[Qgis-user] Interesting problem

2016-07-20 Thread Tyler Veinot
I am trying to connect to one of my databases under a postgreSQL 9.5.3
(x86) install on windows 7 and I can connect to my geoprocessing database,
just a location where I use PostGIS function on spatial data, but I cannot
connect to my workorders database. They are under the same install with the
same connection parameters. I get a message "consult message log for
details" when I test the connection but I cannot find the log with the
details in it.
Database; name; host, and port are correct so I don't know what the issue
might be. I was connected to it through libre base but I have since closed
that connection.
Anyone have a similar issue?

Hi Tyler,

To test connections, I always first use the 'psql.exe' commandline
utility, and then once I verify that works I would try the 'ogrinfo.exe'
commandline utility. Both should at least allow you to view the tables
in your database, or, display a readable error.

Hi Andreas,

Thank you for your response, and I think that your 'other' question is
valid. I will see what I can do about that.

But my other point is that there is very little documentation about what
settings 'should' be applied to enable these providers. That makes it hard
for users who want to get on with their work if they have to spend hours
researching and experimenting.

And, I've been around for long enough to know that I shouldn't whinge

Hi Johanna,

Which provider are you talking about?

You have to understand that Processing is an open and extensible system -
many providers can't be shipped with QGIS, because they are very
domain-specific and would bloat QGIS or because of licensing issues. Hence
they need to be installed and configured separately.

However, processing providers that are shipped along with QGIS, such as
GDAL/OGR/Postgis/GRASS/Saga should work out of the box and I agree with
you, it shouldn't require extra configuration ideally. So what provider are
you talking about?

[QGIS-it-user] QGIS 2.16 numero formattato - etichette

Salve a tutti,
stavo etichettando (campo lunghezza) una serie di lineString, da proprietà

selezionato 2 per meglio leggere l'etichetta, fin qui nessun problema,
l'etichetta compare (es: 125,33);

ho aggiunto alla etichetta l'unità di misura 'm' ("lunghezza" || ' m') e non
funziona più la formattazione a due cifre, compaiono tutte le cifre
decimali;

chiedo se accade anche a voi!!!

grazie!!!

PS: funziona bene se etichetto cosi: format_number( "lunghezza" ,2)||' m'

[Qgis-user] Upgrading to 2.16 -> delete Processing in .qgis2 to get new version

2016-07-20 Thread Bernd Vogelgesang

Hi,
I just upgraded from 2.14 to 2.16 on Linux Mint (after uninstalling
everything). I had some strange behaviours with the Processing Toolbox, so
I got the idea to delete the processing plugin folder from
.qgis2/Python/plugins and restarted QGIS. Then there was a new link at the
bottom of the toolbox, telling me that I can activate more providers.
Actually I did not change anything in the settings, but when closing them,
there was visible action on my hard disc. Afterwards, the quirks were gone.

It seems that the new Processing is only working correctly when doing
that(?)

This may apply to Windows as well.

Any comments from devs on that? In case this should be a general case when
upgrading, shouldn't this be told somewhere prominently on the website?

[Qgis-user] Joining csv and shape files in QGIS

2016-07-20 Thread Phillip Money
I am trying to join a csv file and shp file in QGIS. They both have common
fields. I have imported the CSV file properly. It has two fields, a name (local
government area) and an integer (total complaints per area). I have checked the
properties in QGIS and they show string and int.

I want to display total complaints per local government area on a map When I
join the CSV and shp files, I get null values under the total complaints field.
I have tried lots of things, but without success so far.

Any help would be appreciated.

I imagine you are using a field. Would you have an extra space before the

Try loading the shapefile and the csv data without the join? Then, copy a
government value from the shapefile then try to find it using a query or a
filter in the csv. If you know it's there and can't find it, then you
could have a character or something throwing off the join.
Is the gov field a unique value field?

I have not much experience with Manifold, but I guess it should be an

be useless. You would have to create a custom CRS for it.

Reading
http://www.cartoninjas.net/post/Defitions-of-Polish-projections-for-manifold
and the xml file linked there, it is definitely from Manifold. So lets try:

+proj=ortho +lat_0=0 +lon_0=0 +x_0=4393181.425 +y_0=5437772.5
+ellps=GRS80 +towgs84=0,0,0,0,0,0,0 +units=m +no_defs

I'm not sure about the difference between false easting and OffsetX.
Maybe you have to enter negative values. And localScaleX and localScaleY
is strange. Maybe it can be put in +to_meter (or 1/3.175=0.31496?)
instead of +units=m.

Can you load the file into QGIS, and post the extent in map units, as
reported by layer -> properties -> metadata -> Properties -> Extent?

The ubuntugis and ubuntugis-ltr packages have been rebuilt.

BTW debian unstable already has gdal-abi-2-1-1.

Re: [Qgis-user] issues with Processing Options

2016-07-20 Thread Neumann, Andreas
Hi Johanna,

Which provider are you talking about?

You have to understand that Processing is an open and extensible system
- many providers can't be shipped with QGIS, because they are very
domain-specific and would bloat QGIS or because of licensing issues.
Hence they need to be installed and configured separately.

However, processing providers that are shipped along with QGIS, such as
GDAL/OGR/Postgis/GRASS/Saga should work out of the box and I agree with
you, it shouldn't require extra configuration ideally. So what provider
are you talking about?

Greetings,
Andreas

Hi Chris,

Yes - see Menu --> View --> Panels --> Tile Scale Panel.

Of course you need a tiled layer loaded in the project in order to enable it.

That's what I think also. The data are probably within a locally defined system. If not, the EPSG code would have been named during export. Any chance to get more information's from the author of the data?

2016-07-20 Thread Johanna Botman
Hi Andreas,

I was having specific issues with Orfeo Toolbox and GRASS. I’m running QGIS
2.14.1.

I work where I have no permissions on my PC, so I struggle with basic
read/write. My IT unit don’t like installing via OSGeo – so that doesn’t help
either.

Hi Johanna,

Which provider are you talking about?

You have to understand that Processing is an open and extensible system - many
providers can't be shipped with QGIS, because they are very domain-specific and
would bloat QGIS or because of licensing issues. Hence they need to be
installed and configured separately.

However, processing providers that are shipped along with QGIS, such as
GDAL/OGR/Postgis/GRASS/Saga should work out of the box and I agree with you, it
shouldn't require extra configuration ideally. So what provider are you talking
about?

Greetings,
Andreas

Hi All,

I always struggle with the Options in Processing when I try to insert the
correct path for a Provider. Is there anywhere that there is some documentation
about what those settings should be?

I do realise that these come from a variety of sources and may vary from
installation to installation. But isn't it time that QGIS moved away from users
needing to know the intricacies of each installation? Why can't QGIS work
straight out from the installation by now? I want to be getting on with my GIS
work and analysis of data. I don't need to know about the details of the
entrails, do I?

And yes, I am a Windows user and I am quite happy with being provided with an
.exe file that just installs everything I need.

in effetti anche nell'esempio usa solo group_by:

sum("population",group_by:="state") → summed population value, grouped by
state field

ma faccio notare che questa sintassi funziona:

 ( $area/sum( $area , "cod_pro" , "cod_pro" =82 ) ) *100

cioè basta toglier il group_by:=

grazie!!!

Not quite sure what you are looking for, but If I have your gist.
I have done some work on a OSM Dataset for Ireland, both styled in QGIS and in
Geoserver.
The dataset is stored as a PostGIS database and served on Geoserver. So I
would have examples of how I replicated styling on both.

I could provide a dump of the database, which also has the styling for QGIS
saved as a table, and a copy of the SLD files for Geoserver.

You may have some difficulty with the symbology though on the GeoServer Side,
even though I used QGIS Symbols we have them served centrally so as they can be
accessed by geoserver.
The SLD's for GeoServer where created a while ago, and I was still learning so
they may be a little messy. I also have little to no experience in
programming

I could also give examples of other issues I have come across, along with my
solutions to these.

As a topic of discussion though, the biggest issue at present is labels, QGIS
SLD'd don't save labels, I found that to be the most tricky part of styling to
date. Also the use of attributes in the styling, for example, having a text
rotation and size attribute, I have examples of this also, but wont be able to
provide data, as its commercially sensitive and we don't own the dataset
ourselves.

There has been some issues with using QGIS SLD's in Geoserver.
The following should enable you to utilise the styling power of QGIS and make

In the main, this process only works for geometry, and will not work for

Firstly, style your layer the way you want.
Next save your style as a SLD.

[QGIS-it-user] QGIS 2.16 funzioni di aggregazione

2016-07-20 Thread Totò
In QGIS 2.16 sono state introdotte oltre 80 nuove caratteristiche, quella
che mi ha colpito particolarmente è legata alle funzioni di aggregazione;

 ( $area/sum( $area , "cod_pro" , "cod_pro" =82 ) ) *100

dove 82 è il codice provinciale di Palermo secondo ISTAT, fin qui tutto ok;
la guida suggerisce di scrivere, subito dopo $area: group_by:="cod_pro" cioè

syntax: sum(expression, group_by, filter)

( $area/sum(  $area , group_by:="cod_pro" ,  "cod_pro" =82 ) ) *100

ma questa sintassi non funziona; cioè l'aggiunta di group_by:= non genera
nessun nodo root, analisi fallita

discutendone con un amico, abbiamo pensato che forse Nyall Dawson ha ideato
il tutto sotto linux, può essere questo?

saluti

QuickMap Services delivers TMS, not WMTS. You might use the Tile Map

I don't know if TMS tiles are being cached in QGIS.

A working example for WMTS is

The slider works with that, although I see no map content from the service.
