 Hi,

We actually do these tests with chkuser, see:

We use simscan instead of QHPSI because it give more options and valuable
feedback. Having said that, Erwin Hoffman does write excellent software
 and patches.

Did I see the light, or am I still way off on this? Again, once i get

Correct. You'll need to enter the domain-keys into your DNS records on
your DNS servers, and the caching is only for the checking of the keys
on your machine. Easier/faster to query a DNS server/caching DNS server
on the machine that is running the mail server rather than having to do
the lookups.

Is there anything in any of the error logs? Can you watch the resources

You'll need to run your local users
through the same rules as the others. Edit your tcp.smtp file, and
change the 127 line (I'm assuming they're sending the emails via

RE: [qmailtoaster] My toaster keeps getting blacklisted by CBL

2006-05-18 Thread Warner Moore
CBL blocks because of the host identified by 'helo.' If the host
does not resolve correctly, it could cause issues.

Check your mail logs. (/var/log/qmail) There should be a URL at

That is probably limited in the source code itself. The memory allocated
was probably set to something the author thought would never be reached
(509). You would have to edit the source code itself to change this
above what you're looking. Not to be a pain, but do you really need more
than 509 concurrent connections coming into your server?

Yesterday, a pretty typical day, saw the following on my regular mail
server (not the bulk mail server for the mailing list):

191,010 emails sent (send log)
185,841 emails received (smtp log)

if that is high-volume enough for you, I am running on a Dell PowerEdge
2850, Dual Xeon 3.0GHz, 2GB RAM. Here is what top looks like right now:

top - 09:16:47 up 1 day, 19:40, 1 user, load average: 0.14, 0.22, 0.17
Tasks: 147 total, 1 running, 146 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
Cpu(s): 0.2% us, 0.1% sy, 0.0% ni, 99.8% id, 0.0% wa, 0.0% hi, 0.0% si
Mem: 2074748k total, 1468212k used, 606536k free, 578064k buffers
Swap: 4192924k total, 144k used, 4192780k free, 434636k cached

That is pretty typical. The spike up to 0.22 was my running the
greps against the logs for this email. I am also running munin as a
server on this machine and monit to watch not only its processes but to
ping all the processes on my other machines as well.

I can't wait for Xen to become stable. I would love to partition this
machine and use it as a mysql database replication slave.

W

That is probably limited in the source code itself. The memory allocated was probably set to something the author thought would never be reached (509). You would have to edit the source code itself to
change this above what you're looking. Not to be a pain, but do you really need more than 509 concurrent connections coming into your server? -

Your logs are in /var/log/qmail. The ones you likely want are in
/var/log/qmail/send and /var/log/qmail/smtp. The lines start with a
date that needs to be decoded, so your line will start with something
like:
cat /var/log/qmail/smtp/* | tai64nlocal | grep 2006-05-17
and then you can grep for things like "starting delivery" or "success:"
for send or "CHKUSER accepted rcpt:" in smtp

That's exactly my point. For your requirements, it would make sense
to build, and tweak QMAIL for your needs rather than rely on a series of
packages. It can all be scripted and automated for production
updates/deployment.

Additional benefits include the ability to patch with stuff such as
the high volume, et cetera.

http://www.qmail.org/ has tons of docs.
http://www.google.com/ would have covered all of this.

That's how I do it. Qmailtoaster is for enduser relay and fetching,
little more.

Generally, QMAIL's concurrencyremote by default is set to 20. It's
maximum as set by compiletime is 120.

I am not sure what qmailtoaster defaults to.

http://www.qmail.org/qmail-manual-html/misc/FAQ.html#8.1.

Our application sends out a lot of mail and 120 is default. I do
not know the statistics off of the top of my head, YMMV.

CBL blocks because of the host identified by 'helo.' If the
host
does not resolve correctly, it could cause issues.

Check your mail logs. (/var/log/qmail) There should be a URL

[qmailtoaster] which is the value of QUEUE_EXTRA when you create the packages

2006-05-18 Thread Istvan Köpe

I want to save the outgoing emails and the Qmail faq tells that I have
to recompile Qmail. I don't know where to start doing that, when I
installed Qmail from rpm-s.
Maybe I don't have to recompile, maybe when the Qmailtoaster packages
were created the QUEUE_EXTRA was set to Tlog\0 and QUEUE_EXTRALEN
was set to 5 by default and I can proceed to the next step.

Or may be you have a better solution and you'll share it with me.

[qmailtoaster] ssl certification query

Hello.

I'm curious about the certificates for multiple sites on one server e.g.
qmailtoaster.

You have multiple domains in the .com, .net and .org, none of which are
sub-domains.

You access the accounts via encypted email and/or the squirrelmail https: web
browser.

How does all this work when you want to create, and have signed, a certificate
where you can only put in a single domain ?

Hi Erik.

Yes, I found that in the archives and was on the registerfly web site and
started thinking about the other domains I will be adding and how the cert
will effect them.

So there are Two issues ?

qmail ssl - if cert is for domain1.org and I have people also logging in with
domain1.com, they will see a pop-up/discrepancy e.g outlook security prompt
until they accept it permanently.

apache - 1 IP per domain/ssl cert, so only having one IP (name based) they
will also see an alert unless they accept it as good in their browser
certificate manager. I could improve that by getting more IP's and more
certificates.

Is that about right ?

Regards...Martin

I got my cert with one name, secure.domain.com, and I have all my
users point their clients to secure.domain.com for pop3-ssl/imap-ssl
and outgoing smtp-ssl.

No need to accept, since the RegisterFly certs are trusted by default
in Outlook and Thunderbird (and just about any mail client).

Yes, but buying a wildcard ssl cert is in the thousands of dollars
mark. In addition, you still can't have more than one documentroot (or
virtualhost) per ip address in apache.

Nor can you have more than one cert for qmail.

Is this a cron issue or email has to arrive and leave before it creates log

Re: [qmailtoaster] which is the value of QUEUE_EXTRA when you create the packages

2006-05-18 Thread Scott M Andrews

Use the qmail-tap patch
(
http://www.inter7.com/?page=qmailtap) which is already included in
the toaster. This will allow you to tap for the entire domain, or a
single account - it's just a matter of how you configure the tap line in
/var/qmail/control/taps
Instructions are here

http://www.inter7.com/qmailtap/README.tap
This requires users to send via your server in order to catch
outgoing. If they send via another ISP or mail server, you wont get
a copy.

I want to save the outgoing
emails and the Qmail faq tells that I have
to recompile Qmail. I don't know where to start doing that, when I
installed Qmail from rpm-s.
Maybe I don't have to recompile, maybe when the Qmailtoaster
packages
were created the QUEUE_EXTRA was set to Tlog\0 and
QUEUE_EXTRALEN
was set to 5 by default and I can proceed to the next step.
Or may be you have a better solution and you'll share it with
me.

You need 1 mail to be processed, then have the cron job run, either
normally or manually.

You appear to be in one of their blocked lists. As shown here:

Might want to contact Yahoo! and ask them why.

Does this happen only when using webmail or can you replicate with a
more traditional client, such as Thunderbird?

All needed changes will need to be made to your DNS record.

Essentially, you need to contact Yahoo at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and they

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.

If emails sent by your servers are being delivered to the Yahoo! Bulk
Mail folder and you would like to prevent this from occurring, please
complete the following application below to help us determine where your
email is most appropriately delivered. We ask that you provide
responsive, complete and truthful information. Please note that by
submitting this information to Yahoo!, you agree to adhere to the Yahoo!
Terms of Service (TOS). You may review these Terms by visiting:

http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/

If you use a shared mailing service and do not have an IP address solely
dedicated for your email, please forward this questionnaire to a

evaluate their overall mailing practices and policies rather than yours.
Your mail server IP reverse DNS should reflect your domain in the name.

In addition, this application process is not a guarantee for delivery to
our users' Inbox. Individual user filtering preferences may override
system-wide settings. If Yahoo! is made aware of any indication that
your answers are false or inaccurate, or that your mailing practices
have changed, we may, in our sole discretion, take appropriate action,
including but not limited to directing email to the Bulk Mail folder and
refusing to evaluate any future questionnaire submissions for a period
of six months.

To begin this application process, we would appreciate you taking the
time to provide us with the information requested below:

1. Do you rent, lease, buy or otherwise obtain email lists from
companies, individuals, organizations, or websites (other than those you
own) that do not indicate that the customer will be subscribed to this
specific email list?

   a. If yes, do you explicitly send an opt-in confirmation email to
the

email addresses you have acquired?
  i. If yes, please send a text-only example of this email.

   b. If no, please explain how you obtain email addresses.

2. How do you verify that the true owner of the email address you have
obtained is valid?

3. Do you offer list management services for other companies (i.e., as
an ASP)? If so, please provide us with your standards for accepting your
clients' email lists.

4. Do you rent, lease, sell, or otherwise give email lists to other
companies, individuals, organizations, or affiliates without providing
notice to the email users that they will be subscribed to the buyer's
specific email list?

5. Please indicate the information below pertaining to email sent to
Yahoo! mail.

   a. How frequently do you send email to Yahoo! users in a given month
and how many emails are sent in the average mailing?
