RE: CSVitamins Minerals II
htmldivFrom Ruth Strackbein/div/htmlHi, Ruth B. from Ruth S. I have had one Ondamed session with a Dr. Essen at the Whole Life Clinic, Inc. 904 E. 143rd St. Burnsville , Mn. 55337. Phone 952-891-3019. Website: www.wholelifeclinic.com Naturopath. I am currentlytaking the following Alternative Health preparations: Digestazon Plus, Una De Gato Honey Vinegar, Sangre De Drago from Amazon Herbs. Also Fiberzon Plus Rhubarb Root, from the same company. In addition, I use Hydrozyme, Organik-15, Bio GGG-B, Bio FCTS from Metabolic Management, P.O. Box 546, Grant Park,Illinois 60940, 800-373-1373. And Lipophos EDTA from Allergy Research Group. Don't have the address for them handy. And Prescript- Assist , a probiotic, www.safermedical.us . These are all designed to aid in digestion. These preparations are very, very expensive. My son paid for the first round, and I for the second, but don't know if I can continue, at least not in the prescribed amounts. So far I do see some improvement in colon transit speed, but that is more likely due to regular Doctor prescribed daily doses of Milk of magnesia, which Dr. Essen knows about. My regular Drs. also know about the Ondamed things I am using. I am currently taking Milk of mag 3 times a day between meals in doses of 1, 1 and a half or 2 tablespoons as seem to be needed. You may not have read my earlier posts about the condition of my colon which is a great deal longer than usual, very floppy , and has a tested transit time of 7-8 days! It has been recommended to have either partial or total colon removal, but , because of my age (79) it was deemed wise to try some rather drastic methods to get this organ into action more regularly. You may include this information if you think it will be useful to enough people. The sites to purchase the above listed products are probablyof general interest. Those companies carry other natural products as well. Thanks for the further information about Magnesium, Dee. The Phillips Milk of magnesia I have been using has only Magnesium and purified water and something called sodium hypochloride. I should look up the hydrochloride part. I am supposed to consume plenty of salt, since my salt levels always test out low. I salt my food but do not eat potato chips or any of those things. I mainly eat meat and vegetables and put salt on them. Will probably stick with the present Magnesium until I can check out some of these others. Hi, Dee, am going through my e-mail messages from previous weeks. I appreciate your message, I know Charles and the others mean well, but I just cannot go in many directions at once. Different ones on this list have very different ideas of what may be basically wrong with me and they may all be partially right or entirely right, or all wrong. At present I am using alternative methods with my regular doctor's blessing. I have gone to a Naturopath who works with something called an Onamed machine that uses electric impulses to determine which parts of one's body are in trouble. Supplements are listed . I have received my first round of these supplements and between them they seem to deal with many if not most of the things that various ones on Eskimo have posted about. These supplements are from companies like Amazon and several companies that are doing research into some of these sitiuations. I am still exploring the possibility of surgery, but with no definite plans for proceeding in that direction for the present. Neither the surgeons I have consulted nor the gastroenterologist are pushing for surgery. In fact one surgeon flatly refuses to do the surgery. His plan for getting my colon to work did not produce desired results, but the plan of the present surgeon in addition to the alternative things, does seem to be producing some results. What none of them can do is turn back the calendar re my age. Some of what I am experiencing may simply be due to wearing out of body parts. This can very possibly be slowed by using these plans, but probably not turned around. I very much appreciate your comforting words, and realize that the others mean the best for me. RE: CSCeltic diet
Hi, Wanda, Because many fruits and vegetables don't agree with me, my menus tend to get a little monotonous, but they do change with the seasons. I do not eat any desserts other than fruitl. My fruit choices are cantalope, watermelon ( in season) , bananas, once in awhile a pear. an avocado. I can't eat apples or oranges, grapefruit, etc. I also have trouble with the cabbage family. They cause alot of gas which gets held up in my extra long, floppy large colon. I have a hard boiled egg for breakfast with some oatmeal and various veggies like sweet potato, carrot, beet, green beans, yams. I mostly eat the fruit between main meals. Lunch may be beef, various of the less expensive avieties. I stay away from hamburger, though. a head lettuce or romaine salad with either olive oil or canola oil, brown rice, carrots, beets, sweet potato, potato, zucchini, green beans, squash, a kind of stew of a little of whatever I have on hand. Supper is some kind of fish. I mostly use pollock since it is the least expensive, especially if one buys it by the 10 lb. box. Once in awhile friends bring me some Great Northern which is a real treat. I also use some tuna, salmon, mackerel The last three not often. I have been buying different kinds of squash at our Farmer's Markets this summer . They keep well in my cool basement , even until spring. And I can cook and freeze any that threaten to spoil. I tried some broccoli , just a sprig or two at a meal this past week/. I did get into trouble with gas. Since I live alone, I do not need to cook separate meals for another person or persons. There are many ways to make baked goods that are usually acceptible for celiac patients. I just don't like to bake and the ingredients that are wheat, barley and rye free are usually expensive. I really don't miss all the other things. I cook my veggies with steam either in a big steamer kettle or a double boiler. That way I can warm up foods without overheating them. I usually do the original cooking in the larger steamer. Have some very large beets this fall that have to be done in the steamer. A crockpot would work well, too. I wish I had recipes to share with you. I just enjoy the wonderful flavor of my meat and veggies all by themselves. Go to www.celiac.com for more ideas about how to cook for a celiac patient. RE: CSCeliac or Tourette`s-Help!!
Hi, Marshalee, I have a grandson who had Tourette's Syndrome as a child. He is now in his twenties, and I haven't heard lately, but think he has outgrown it. Will write his mom and see if she has any further input as to his condition now and what they did earlier. I would e-mail him directly, but may not get a prompt answer because he is a graduate student at Yale and works, as well, so has very little time for correspondence. As for Celiac, I thought at one time that I might have that. Have been tested which turned out negative, but found the diet to be a healthy one, so have continued on it for around 4 years. It has not made my digestive problems go away, but suspect they would be even worse were I to go back to eating the way I used to. There is a site I used to go to for that. Will check in my files and get back to you. Magnesium Oil, a solution gathered by salt water evaporation has been our favorite magnesium chloride solution until now. I have been recommending a product from Global Light Network and I have seen it do miracles, even saving the life of my oldest online friend. But recently I have received hints of problems when I was in the interior of Brazil sitting clinic with Dr. Augusto Vinholis. We had ordered a gallon of magnesium oil and what came in the magnesium oil bottle was magnesium gel. Global Light was very unresponsive and seemed not to think it was important. I am aware that Global Light had hired an FDA consultant to put a quality program together, but, instead, after a few months, decided against instituting a full quality assurance program. Without such a program their product does not meet minimum requirements and should be re-filtered before any more is sold. It is disturbing to find problems like this especially in the face of something so necessary and positive in terms of furthering the health and recovery of many people from serious disease. Because of this the IMVA can no longer can no longer reccomend Global Light's products.Shiona -- The Silver List is a moderated forum for discussing Colloidal Silver. Mary -- Original message -- From: Shiona Phillips hyasy...@freenetname.co.uk Over on the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/aboutclay/ list there has been a discussion over the last few days on the subject of transdermal magnesium chloride which involves applying magnesium chloride oil to the skin, which is apparently a very effective way of getting it into the body, using oil derived from brine solutions from seawater. I haven't tried it myself but it looks interesting ...This is the home page of Dr. Mark Sircus, the author of a recommended book Transdermal Magnesium Therapy http://www.magnesiumforlife.com/ There are over 200 published clinical studies[iii] documenting the need for magnesium and many examples of miraculous “cures” from the use of this common mineral. Even DAN (Defeat Autism Now) doctors underestimate autistic children’s needs recommending only 50 milligrams twice a day in oral form. Not much of that is going to get into the children’s blood and cells because oral administration of magnesium is not absorbed readily and is made less available because of all the problems in these kids’ GI systems. Professor Gilbert LeLord of France published six studies evaluating the use of vitamin B6 with magnesium, on autistic children and adults. Their studies typically used as much as 500 milligrams of magnesium with more than satisfactory results. According to Dr. Norman Shealy oral magnesium supplementation takes between 6 to 12 months to restore intracellular levels whereas a transdermally applied magnesium lotion with 25% magnesium chloride restores intracellular levels within 4 to 6 weeks. Some nutritional experts now believe that 750 milligrams of magnesium supplement per day is a more physiologic[iv] recommendation but to take that much orally might upset the digestive system, cause diarrhea, and end up not being properly absorbed.Good sources of magnesium include whole grains, nuts, peanut butter, cottonseed, peanut and soybean flours, green leafy vegetables and spices. It's better to get magnesium from foods rather than supplements because high doses have a laxative effect--the body's way of preventing toxic levels. But unfortunately we have to come to terms with the fact that the food values of magnesium have been dropping over the last fifty years making it extremely difficult to receive all we need from foods. The International Medical Veritas Association recommends a system of transdermal magnesium therapy that bypasses the problems evident with oral magnesium supplementation. RE: CSRe: Potassium / Iodine
John, I have been diagnosed as having IBS, irritable bowel Syndrome. It seems to me that this is one of those umbrella ' terms that are used when no one can really come up with an explanation that fits all cases. Kind of like ADHD, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. I think such terminology has a certain usefulness , since without some kind of a title, how are we going to refer to a bunch of symptoms that have some similarities, but also wide variations. My IBS symptoms are almost completely right sided, leading my doctor to think that they may be due to adhesions from my three abdominal surgeries. I am inclined to agree with him to some extent. On Monday I saw another surgeon whose practice involves the colon surgery that has been suggested. This man, like the first surgeon I saw, prefers to try other treatments first. So he provided me with a different plan of procedure to get my colon moving, than that of the first surgeon I saw. Note, that both men are not quick to slice me up as someone else said.. That is only a last resort. This second surgeon's directions will be easier to follow and involve somewhat different medications than the first one. I am also working with a naturopath who uses something called an Ondamed machine to locate areasof trouble in a person's body. I am using 10 preparations designed to bolster my body's immune system, and correct some suspected problems. If you google Ondamed, you will find out more about that. Hi, Leslie, Yes, we have a great God! Our Jesus not only did miracles and showed compassion to the poor, but He lived a perfect life for us, since we can't, and took the punishment for our sins as he died on the cross. RE: CSRe: Potassium / Iodine
Hi, Nancy, Raw food just isn't an option for me at present. My problem is constipation rather than diarrhea. My colon what with aging and physical structure of the organ which has affected me all my life. I have used a wheat free, completely celiac type diet even though I have not been diagnosed with celiac disease. This has been for nearly 4 years now. This colon simply doesn't move anything along in any sort of an orderly fashion. If you could see the X-ray taken in May, you would see that it does not look at all like the pictures in the health books and encyclopedias. The doctors are quite sure there is no cancer involved. Have had several colonoscopies in the past couple of years. My doctor says the surgeon who does my colonoscopies really earns his pay. Sometimes I wonder, if it is so hard to get through my colon with his flexible instrument, maybe these procedures have contributed to the overall problem. I eat a rather limited diet already, have already eliminated citrus fruits, cabbage family, apples which has always given me trouble, I eat only vegetables that I steam in a double boiler which helps control amount of heat. I eat no ketchup or other condiments, no sugar , no baked goods. No tomatoes. I do eat potatoes occasionally, but am wondering about that whole family. I do eat bananas, which are probably constipating, but they agree with my upper digestive tract. Whatever works to help the large colon often bothers the organs in the upper digestive tract. The surgery would probably not help the upper problems, but could make things better in the lower tract. I am trying a approach with the surgeon I saw yesterday. I hope this one helps. Thanks for your help and I will check out the site you suggested. Im glad that you have found a solution to your IBS. Hi, again, Nancy, I just reread your message and realized I didn't speak about my use of fermented foods. Have used yogurt, kefir , can't think of the name of the other one. I got some curds from my daughter and got raw milk from a local farmer. That gave me diarrhea. I thought I was getting along fine with it, but all of a sudden had to spend all day in the bathroom. That is how my colon acts. It tends to store up food, medicine etc. and then all of a sudden it all comes. It is not uncontrollable , fortunately, but not good. Hi, John, I will certainly get some coconut oil next time I get to town, although my trouble is mostly constipation, lately I have to use an enema almost every day to keep things in motion. Don't know about the fennel , I am already putting so many new things in there, yesterday and today the spot under my right ribcage that is always sore to touch, hurts all the time. I am using a fiber medicine called Fiberzon which is a mixture of a number of herbs, any one of which, may give me trouble. Another has a vinegar base because most people as they age develop a tendency to not have suffiecient acid to properly digest food. But this burning pain is worrisome. This evening I didn't take the vinegar one. Will wait and see. The products I am taking are the result of an Ondamed treatment given me by a naturopath who specializes in this. Other members of my family have tried this with good results. If you are interested in finding out more about Ondamed, just put the name into the search box on Yahoo and you will get information. Together with some fasting and as you mention kefir (or good yoghurt), certain spices like fennel help because they reduce disease, and as part of your diet, keep it down. 'ZApping' gut disease is perhaps impossible. Ayurvedics say it takes 4 years for an adult to rid themselves of chronic gut diseases. (Ayurveda specialises in gut disease). Here is some testimony , with link (no~-commercial, more or less): http://www.coconutdiet.com/digestive_disorders.htm I've been using coconut oil about a month now, 2 tsp. per day. Mix it in anything possible or just throw it on top of pizza slices. I have IBS and am a compulsive overeater. Within a short time of taking it, I realized I was no longer wanting food. In the past month I have lost 5 lbs. and just as many inches. Instead of being a computer potato, I am up and about, doing thingsjust have so much more energy. The biggest change is the IBS. Instead of the runs now, I almost need laxatives. *laughing* It's been since my early 20's that I've felt this wayI'm 42 now. Coconut oil is fantastic! Hi, Faith, I have long wished I could take more Vitamin C, especially since I have trouble with citrus fruits. It and they, make the sore place under my right center ribcage burn like fire. I should really look for some buffered C of a natural sort like acerola berries, etc. My chiropractor has me working on using mainly diet to strengthen my immune system. Have started eating cantalope for Vitamin C, I have been doing that for awhile. I also get some in my multivitamin, but that is a relatively cheap drugstore variety. Have to work within a fairly low budget. These new ondamed treatment products are going to take some careful balancing. I have in the past read things by Linus Pauling, but not for some time. Should get a book from the library and read up again. Thanks for your input, Faith, I appreciate all that folks put out to try to help and do not mean to be negative. Hi, Zeb, I think my intestines just get kinks sometimes and they gradually loosen up and relax, but form again maybe even in different places. I just know that in the 1950's an x-ray was taken that showed a spot like two funnels with the short ends stuck together, the wide ends filled with , presumably gas or air. They did eventually relax. Except for the one x-ray I have no way of telling if this happens continually or not. I am just guessing from the way my colon works, (or doesn't!]. I am truly hoping that this plan the surgeon I saw yesterday recommended, will truly help. He was much more specific in his instructions than the previous one. I am to make an appointment to see him again in a month. Meanwhile, I can call the clinic and give him a message anytime. Prayerfully , this plan will help. Thanks for your understanding and encouragement, Zeb, I appreciate it. Have you had any recent scans(ultra sound) to check for this? Some soothing herbs you might try would be slippery elm and DGL. They are very easy and safe on the digestive tract. Hi, Tad, Thanks for the message re Thyroid. I am concerned about my thyroid levels which are within normal levels according to the Dr., but some areas, just barely. Have since had the T4 test which also came back normal. Also had the Dr. check my carotid arteries in my neck since I had an ondamed machine test recently which indicated that there may be trouble there. Dr. just says there is nothing he can do unless unmistakable physical symptoms arise. Why in the world do we always have to wait until we are in dire trouble before attempting to get help? I am taking 10 different digestive tract meds for a week now. Since the Ondamed treatment, I have had higher energy levels, but the digestive tract is not responding so far. Have an appointment on Monday to see a different surgeon about possible colon surgery. He is closer to home and was in favor of the surgery back in January when he did some testing for me. The signs and symptoms, if any, are those of an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism). The signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism vary widely, depending on the severity of hormone deficiency. At first, you may barely notice any symptoms, such as fatigue and sluggishness, or you may simply attribute them to getting older. But as the disease progresses, you may develop more obvious signs and symptoms, including: ▪ Increased sensitivity to cold ▪ Constipation ▪ Pale, dry skin ▪ A puffy face ▪ Hoarse voice ▪ An elevated blood cholesterol level ▪ Unexplained weight gain — occurring infrequently and rarely more than 10 to 20 pounds, most of which is fluid ▪ Muscle aches, tenderness and stiffness, especially in your shoulders and hips ▪ Pain and stiffness in your joints and swelling in your knees or the small joints in your hands and feet ▪ Muscle weakness, especially in your lower extremities ▪ Excessive or prolonged menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia) ▪ Depression I was just reading on Hashimoto's as my neighbor has it. Perhaps the synthetic hormone you are getting is not fully eliminating symptoms. I am wondering if your taking iodine is a conflict with your prescription medicine. Re: CSSore throat
Hi, Sol, About the dry mouth, actually my mouth doesn't just feel dry, rather it feels like there is something adhering to the inner tissues. It isn't like just needing a drink of water, and drinking water doesn't take it away. It gradually fades. I was interested in the article recently posted about negative side of CS. My doctor is cautioning me about using it internally because there are folks out there who say silver does build up in one's system. I mainly use a small amount when I feel like I might be coming down with something. The feeling never develops into a cold, but then I have had very few colds in the past few years and none that required an antibiotic. I am sure I would prefer constipation over diarrhea. And diarrhea is what the doctors say I may well have if I have the surgery. The thing is that the leftovers would be coming directly from the small intestine if I had the total removal. My rectum would be left intact, but nearly all of the waste material would go into the bag. There could be a few times a year when I would pass some rectally, I am told. The gastroenterologist surgeon I have consulted calls this a terrible surgery to have and encourages me to try every possible means to avoid it. So I am currently working on variations of the different means I have used over the years to deal with it. Actually I do have a sort of alternating constipation and diarrhea , if it can be called that. For one to three days I will be in the bathroom alot passing stool at more or less frequent intervals, then for a couple of days nothing. I usually have to use an enema to get it started again. The first material is generally quite hard. It rarely goes into a true diarrhea without form, however. Not eating carbs will not give me much of a problem since I have been on this celiac diet for three years now. I do have a piece of candy once in awhile, but rarely and eat no grains other than oatmeal and brown rice. For several years I didn't use those either. Actually, I doubt I am a celiac patient, but, as you say, there are probably levels of problems involved with celiac. I am currently working on something I used for many years , mineral oil by mouth and by rectum. All the three doctors I deal with say Use whatever works: including these, and I mentioned them by name. I haven';t done this long enough to know what the results will be. Am also experimenting with various kinds of fiber supplements. I think I would like to abandon these. The one the surgeon recommends is the powdered Citrucel which goes against everything I have learned about what to put in one's body. Am presently trying Fibersure which is made from inulin bearing plants. This has been spoken of on Eskimo. But I think it is causing things to stop up more. I eat 3 or 4 vegetables with every meal including breakfast, so I have to be getting enough fiber, also eat fruit between meals, mainly cantalope and bananas, and lately watermelon. The others don't agree with me. Sol, It is good for me to hear from folks like you who have such a variety of problems . I try to remember, also that I am slowing down a great deal, but I still do not need to use a cane, and I can function in caring for myself at home for the most part. I indend to go on experimenting, trying to keep a routine in place for a decent amount of time before trying something else. Any of these things are to some extent limiting to activity. I, for one, am never sure if I am really going to be able to manage a particular activity or outing. This is more than enough for now. I hope that the others know to skip my messages if they find the content too gross. I've never noticed it doing so, but then I am so very dry I've even been told I have Sjogren's Syndrome. My eyes get so dry I've had keratitis, am at high risk of corneal ulcers, and always have some of what the eye doc calls dry spots on my corneas which would quickly turn into keratitis again if I get careless about my eye drops. I drink liquids continuously all day everyday, if I don't I just can't stand the dry mouth/throat, which makes me sort of feel like I'm going to choke. Yes, I've had IBS, spastic colon, (whatever the latest name for it is--its all the same thing to me) for over 30 years. But I don't have anything like the problems you have, at least nothing like that has ever showed up in any imaging studies. What I had was constant diarrhea, which is also very life limiting. You can't go much of anywhere when you might have sudden explosive diarrhea without warning. In my case a very low carb diet almost cures it. I say

Hi, Simon, I know that 1/8 tsp is not very much, but with my particular problems I have to go easy with new things. What works for my lower tract often gives my upper tract fits or vice versa anyway as near as I can tell. I am not continuing this experiment for the present due to another protocol I am following with regard to trying various things to hopefully keep my digestive tract working without need to have 90% of my large bowel removed. Re: CSHelp for heavy metal detox (from amalgum fillings)?
To Ode, Miranda, and everybody, For those of you who have had amalgam or mercury or metal fillings of any sort removed from your teeth, in what ways has it helped you? Are these improvements possibly due to any other interventions you have tried at the same time? Actually, now that I see these posts, I realize that more recent fillings I have had say within the last 10 -20 years have all been mercury. I don't think the most recent ones have been. It's been several years since I have had any. What I don't know is of what material the earlier fillings were composed. The first ones were put in when I was 17, 62 years ago. Thanks, Faith, I am presently in process of making several quarts of CS for Barb and John to take home with them. She gets quite severe Herz reactions, flu like symptoms. She uses it mainly when she knows she will be in a crowd and exposed to many pathogens. That is the information given me in the last post from them. Will have more opportunity to talk about the herx reactions, etc. when they come, however, her cance , I think it's called Waldenstern's (not sure of the ending) is very rare and does affect the immune system since it is associated with white blood cells. She is presently doing very well, much better than expected, on alternative therapies. Used to need a complete cleaning of her blood every three months. Now she has gone 8 months without needing one. Yes, It does help , Kathryn espcially since your directions are without the dishwasher. Will print out just to be sure I remember, I am getting so forgetful! I used to make lots of jelly when all our kids were home. We would go blackberrying on one of our members farms with the cows grazing nearby. One time we picked around 12 gallons! Made jelly and jam and pie, the works. I am amazed when I think back to those days, but then at least 4 of our 6 children were big enough to be a real help. The two youngest just stayed clear of the cows and ate their fill. Then would come the scalding water, but I don't do this for the CS, and the dishwasher does not either. I then rinse with distilled water, pouring in a little and swishing around, then I pour that into the next jar, if I am using one. I rinse in distilled water like that 3 times (only because in the lab that is what we used to do- 2 times is sufficient). Then I pour in the distilled water for my batch of cs. This seems to work fine. Once I used peroxide to clean out a small glass jar with a small neck- 3% H2O2, a couple of times, shaking it around pretty good, then the distilled water rinses. I use that for storing the CS by the bedside, and it seems to be fine. Hope this helps. Why is it bad for the silver to touch the glass? I make my CS in glass quart jars. While I am on this subject, what is the best way to dlean quart jars that have been stored in the basement? I never actually had a setup where the electrodes touched the glass sides, but I know if the wires are too close to the bottom, with no stirring, you get residues and sometimes plating on the bottom of the glass which need to be removed by scrubbing, or with Hydrogen Peroxide. I think Ode sent a post quite a while back about the benefits of stirring that mentions something about this, maybe he would chime in. Something about Nernst diffusion layers and scavenging oxygen from the glass, etc, but, you do not need worry about this or even about stirring in order to make a simple CS that you can use. As you get familiar with the process you may want to get more elaborate. You might try some sort of canning jar where the opening is of smaller diameter than the main container, so you would not have this problem. If there is no water where the electrodes touch the glass, there certainly wouldn't be any problem. Because of the nature of my innards, and the experiences I have had in dealing with them, I will continue to hold off for awhile. John will be visiting here in August, perhaps I will be persuaded then, for the present I will still use the current Dr.'s plan which is really quite flexible.snip You see, I do read my posts and I do pay attention! --- Hi Ruth, If you do decide to give homozon a try, you can always start at a VERY low dose to assure a GENTLE cleanse while eliminating the mad dashes to the bathroom. Some have mentioned starting at only 1/8 tsp. to get the gentle cleanse. Others start at 1 tsp. and have to make a mad dash to the bathroom for a couple of hours. However, after the colon is cleansed (it does take some time, tho), the mad dashes are not as urgent. I am not trying to pursuade you one way or another. They didn't help. Have tried them both relatively recently and longer ago. They did not help. Which brands? What 'meds'? For how long? In combination with what other drugs/supplements? One of the biggest mistakes people make (because it is so easy to do due to the inordinate amount of mis/dis-information on the internet) is to try a poor brand/version of 'x' that is supposed to be good for some particular ailment - or try something while at the same time doing something else that is contra-indicated and will nullify the effects - then declare that 'x' doesn't work'. Analogy: *Both* of the following statements - as far as they go - are 100% true: 1. Eggs are extremely unhealthy and should be avoided as part of any healthy diet 2. Eggs are extremely nutritious - some call them natures perfect food - and should be included as part of any healthy diet. The reason both of these are true is, I didn't differentiate between: 1. RE: CSProduct information for Ruth
Hi, Gail, I have a can of Homozon right on my kitchen cabinet now. My oldest son gave it to me some time ago. He says he and his brother have used it with excellent results. However, John says that in his experience , he has to be sure to be near a bathroom when he takes it which is daily. Because of past experiences with products with many elements in them, I am leery of this one as well. Because of the nature of my innards, and the experiences I have had in dealing with them, I will continue to hold off for awhile. John will be visiting here in August, perhaps I will be persuaded then, for the present I will still use the current Dr.'s plan which is really quite flexible. Have tried a new OTC product called Fibersure which is insulin based. It causes alot of gas which tends to build up in the nooks and crannies of my colon. May try it again. Someone once said that inulin causes gas, but after using it awhile the gas tends to taper off. You see, I do read my posts and I do pay attention! I'm sure I have a printout of this information , but need desperately to organize my printouts. Actually, now that I have internet at home, I can access my on-line files easily. Before I was very limited for time allowed at the library. Will keep all these things in mind. I had quit making any suggestions because most have already made several good ones, plus from the beginning, you said you were going to follow the guidance of your doctor. If you do decide to take us up on some of the suggestions in the future, I'll give you a quick run through of some of the pricing of some of the products. Homozon runs around $28 or more. Cheapest I've found is at www.excellentthings.com. I realize right now you are on your doctor's protocol, but if afterwards you want to try this, it would be at the top of my suggestions. I think this would accomplish the same thing your doctor is trying to accomplish as it would help to get/keep the bowels up and running. I've also heard some don't even use the lemon/lime drink following the homozon and still get good results. Many have also suggested Dr. Schultz #1 colon cleanse. Sorry, I can't remember how much that runs. Bragg's raw apple cider vingar runs about $4-5 for 1 QT. at most local health food stores. Soloray has a good HCL with pepsin 180 capsules for about $11-12. Also, NOW has a good super enzyme product with bile extract, HCL, and a multiple of other enzymes, 90 capsules for about $12. So if you do decide to try the homozon, ACV, one of the digestive enzymes, these products would run you a total of about $45 for all of them together, and that would last you for some time. Personally, I do not believe your main problem is a result of not having your gallbladder, but I do believe is is contributing. Everybody needs help digesting as we age and especially if the gallbaldder has been removed. That would be a good starting place. I believe the problem you have with your colon, you were born with. You've mentioned having trouble even at a very early age (I'm assuming you still had your gallbladder then). I would love to see you not have to have the surgery. Please consider the homozon before making your final decision. Most people have a significant amount of hardened fecal matter lining the walls of their colon anyway. Not only would this help with that, but it actually gives one a boost of energy by the ozone in it. I also recall you mentioning being on a limited income and not wanting to waste money on yet another supplement that will just line your medicine cabinet. I understand. There's no guarantee these products would help your individual situation, but they have been known to help many. RE: CSBrain injuries
Hi, We had a girl about the age of your son who also received severe brain injuries as a result of a car accident last December. She also had to have several tough surgeries and was in a coma . I forget how long the coma lasted. Actually, the doctors induced the coma , I believe. I kind of think she was in a natural coma first, woke from that and then the doctors put her into an induced coma. She has recovered nicely . Will be returning to school in fall. She is an organist and had to learn to play the organ again from scratch. She is playing for church Services again now, although the music goes a bit slower than before and she does not attempt the level of difficulty she did before the accident. She is able to work part time in our local grocery store and participates in all the activities sshe did before. It is my prayer that your son will have good results from his treatment as well. This might sound far out and who knows if it will even help, but you never know. Years ago I suffered from a concussion that seemed to take forever to heal due to the type and placement of the injury. It had been a good year and still I struggled a lot. Then I was reading a book I believe by Dr. Lee (?) called something like Everything Your Doctor Didn't Tell You About Menopause. In it he talked about how good progesterone cream is for the brain and brain injuries. He even made the comment if he was ever in a car accident and suffered any brain injury, he would want somebody to pour the entire bottle over his head. Long story short: I purchased some progesterone cream and started using it for hormone replacement along with also applying it to my heard. It felt like my body was starved for it. I never even took a break from it like the directions say to use 3 weeks on and take a week off. It was only after I started using it did I finally recover from the concussion. I tried CS for this and the fungus which had been in only 2 nails spread to another, I theorize because the CS killed off beneficial flora keeping the fungus in check. When I spoke of this with the doc this morning, he really didn't have any help for me other than that the inflammation needs healing. Don't all the wastes that the kidney's produce go into the urine? They surely wouldn't pass large things. Doesn't CS kill all the parasite eggs, so eventually when the adults die you'd be parasite free...assuming that the CS could reach them? Hi, Sol, I , too have run into several people who have had this done, one with a total large colon removal. She was at death's door with an infection. Apparently it had to be done or she wold have lost her life. Not sure if this was actually an infection or something else, at any rate, she is living a normal life with her bag. I'm sure she probably wishes she had not had to have it done, but is only glad to be alive and doing everything she did before without problems. The other person I only found out about last night. She had the partial done 3-4 years ago. She had a tumor, She didn't say if it was a cancerous one or not. She also is leading a normal life and has no problems. What I didn't ask her is how much of her colon was removed. I just know it wasn't all of it. Will ask her when I get a chance. The doctors all have warned me of the possible consquences. And nobody, not even the surgeon is pushing me to a decision. The surgeon definitely does not want to do the surgery if we can get my colon to work more normally without. Thanks for your input. RE: CSRe: bile salts
Hi, Charles, Please read my reply to Sol's post . That explains where I am right now. I am not being rushed into anything. The surgeon uses the same words you just did, a horrible, terrible surgery. My regular doc, who has been through 12 years of working on this with me, is more in favor of doing this, not because he wants to get rid of me coming to his office all the time , but because, having now seen the X-rays that show that I have a great deal more colon filled with nooks and crannies where gas and stool get held up. The long transit time may very well be due to my lifetime of bad habits like enemas. However, in my 25 years of teaching plus many more of tutoring, I had to be on hand every day and couldn't be running to the bathroom. There is more to this story from my early years, I won't go into all that. I ate garden produce fresh and home canned from our family's garden throught my early years. I never had money enough to buy pop and all kinds of other goodies. Except for a couple of years when I was in High School in a big city and worked as a page in a library. I earned enough money to buy my supplies for managing my colon, school supplies and enough left over to have a malted milk at the drugstore on the way home from work. During my marriage we almost always had a garden and a big one to help feed our six children. After they got big enough, they worked hard , too both at raising the garden and at preserving it. I always get started and run on longer than I should. Sorry. RE: CSChoices, Alternative or Mainstream ?
Hi, Wayne, And the trouble here is that I probably don't have a whole lot of time to try many healthy interventions. To give a particularly intervention a try means to use it for an extended period of time without varying your other procedures overly much. And to find interventions that will fit within what I am able to handle is difficult. I may , indeed , end up having the surgery and I may regret it , probably would to some extent. I did try an inulin based fiber medication calle Fiber Source,(not sure if that is both words combined or not), It is new on the market, apparently. Sounded good to me, especially in view of the encouragement I have received to use garlic, etc. This one is made from a different herb, chicory root. You can google it and get lots of information. Trouble is it gives me a huge amount of gas which I already have trouble with. The gas piles up in some of the pockets and loops in my intestine and makes me miserable. I know I have been told that the gas will diminish in time and I may continue with it later on. Enough for now. If you read my post to Sol, it will help you see where I am coming from. For you to really see, I would have to tell you about my entire teen years. I may have posted this information some time ago. Can't remember. and now I am guessing that many on Eskimo would be offended. Maybe I have said too much today already! Re: CSRe: bile salts
Thank you from my heart, Kathryn! I'm glad you got your message on before I read the one below it! I have a friend who has had her entire colon removed . She was close to death from some sort of infection. She doesn't like to talk about it, understandably. She functions very normally, does everything she did before. Now she can eat anything! Of course I realize that I am much older than she is and the problems in my upper abdomen will not respond, at least not immediately to the surgery. Again, if indeed I have it. That is what the surgeon and I are working at, albeit not in natural ways, to avoid the surgery. He definitely does not want to do this . And he is bending over backwards to keep me from having to have it, that is, in the ways he is permitted by his license to use. As you have said, there comes a time when medical Drs. are useful and even necessary. I would be hard put to choose between all the possible natural treatments that have been proposed on this list, and I am grateful for all of them. I have gained valuable information, but I can't afford to fill my medicine cabinet with even more alternative things that I buy without a clue as to how they will work in my system, which is definitely compromised. My sons get a little upset with me, too, because I don't try a colon cleanse they have suggested. This one, like many others, contains so many different herbs. Apparently they act in an explosive fashion. This is an intervention you are supposed to continue to use daily. As it is , I have a very hard time maintaining my weight at 110-112 lbs. on my 5 ft. 6 and a half inch frame. When I look in the mirror , I scare myself, although I am getting used to it now. Actually maybe at my age, it is better to weigh less , then the heart doesn't have to work so hard. I forgot to say before, in connection with the upper ribcage pain, it is hoped that not having to push so much on my lower tract would relieve the pressure on the upper structures over time so it or they could heal. There is some slight inflammation in there according to the last endoscope. Now I am getting long-winded again. Sorry! And thank you again, Kathryn.. Also thanks to the others for all the ideas you have offered. I think some have been hard on you (and somewhat insensitive) but I'm sure they mean well in their own way, and are concerned for your health, basically. You can only do what you are comfortable with, and maybe if you try some of the things less likely to cause more problems, then it won't interfere with what your doctor has said, and may even help. I wish you well, whatever you decide to do and I hope your problems get less with each day. Love Dee 'Tis not right, a woman going into such places by herself. Granny nodded. RE: CSOT - chlolestrol / doctors / thieves / hospitals
Hi, Jeanine, But that doesn't mean that all Drs are fraudulent. To the extent that they prescribe medicines that come from drug companies they are, in a way. But the one in Wayne's message was clearly a far-out case. I realize that one has to be extremely careful . Check into a doctor's background and history before proceeding . I enjoyed our conversation the other day. Hope I didn't keep you on the phone too long. It sounds like you are moving, or do I have you mixed up with someone else. I had my blood tested last year; it had been several years so I figured it was time. I had something happen that I have never had happen and although I can't prove it - yet; I am sure I am right. First - the doc sent me to a hospital to have the blood drawn - claimed that he couldn't write the script for a laboratory in the next town over.. okey dokey although I have premium health insurance... Next thing I know, I get a call asking me to come in right away...something about my test results...well it seems that my cholestrol is really really high (never been before BTW). Doc wants me to start in on prescription meds - I refuse of course. I start back on a strict regimen of lecithin and red yeast rice... I re-test two different ways: 1) at a red cross type of free blood testing at a seminar; 2) I go back to my old doctor and have it tested (by the same company BTW - since the insurance is all the same)... VOILA - my cholestrol is not high. Now - I may have a case for fraud here. You see this doctor (the first doctor) had told me at one time that he was really good friends with a pharmaceutical supply / salesman. BEFORE all of this - about 6 months before this bloodwork; He also prescribed for me a diabetic medication and did not tell me why; when I tried to get it filled, the pharmacist, who knew me rather well ??? questioned it. He said did Dr. So and So run blood work - I said no... and you could tell that he knew something I didn't hmmm I smell a jail cell for somebody. I found out last week, this same doctor is on a 3 year VERY strict probation in Georgia for a very serious offense. Conclusion - I believe - like I said - can't prove - yet; that the doctor and the hospital are in collusion and that my blood was never tested as none of the results were normal.. OH also - they said I had been in menopause for 5 years - that turned out to be a lie, too. My old doctor was like?? say what? oh no... I've known you for years and that's when the new testing started. Oh, and I ain't done yet. Then the hospital tried to throw me into collection within 3 weeks of the test - BEFORE I received a bill; I received a collection notice Beware of the thieves. So moral of the story; you can't believe everything you hear; you can't even believe what you read AND FOR sure can't trust doctors... or hospitals. More of the story; now a local woman died in April under this same doctor's care in the ER at the same hospital.. what do you think - anybody know a good attorney, officer of the court? Hi, Gail,,Yes, sometimes I have a bit of a cough, but not one that I associate with the acid reflux and upper right ribcage burning. I have those every day to a varying degree of pain through the day. I think my cough comes from post-nasal drip and from my right lung mainly. I swallowed something the wrong way one time, my right lung has felt different in a strange way, I can't describe. I get this little tickle in there, have been X-rayed and nothing shows up . LAPS -- Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus TAPS -- Proteus, Pseudomonas, Salmonella, Escherichia, Bacteroides, Clostridium, Peptococci, Peptostreptococcus, Streptococcus, Staphylococcus LAPs play a pivotal role in digestion. Lactose intolerance is a very common clinical problem. It is often not fully appreciated that a major portion of lactose ingested in dairy products is actually broken down to simpler sugars by lactase enzymes produced by lactic acid producers. Lactic acid and lactase producers also play important roles in protein digestion. This is one of the primary reasons protein intolerance is so common among individuals with bowel dysfunction. Repopulation of the gut with microflora that have been destroyed by indiscriminate use of antibiotics or crowded out by the unrestrained proliferation of yeast and bacterial organisms helps the bowels to work properly again. Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus (probiotics) are crucial to this effort as are B vitamins, especially B12, biotin, and pantetheine (a more potent form of pantothenic acid). Are your hands often cold? This symptom gives some clues as to where to look for the bowel problems. Cold hands and slow bowel transit time is caused by one of the following -- oxidatively-damaged thyroid enzymes (underactive thyroid gland), oxidatively-damaged autonomic nerve cells and fibers (dysautonomia) or an oxidatively-overdriven adrenalin gland. Another thing to consider is that chronic anger, hostility, conflict, and a sense of being a victim both slow down the bowel transit time and significantly reduce perfusion in different parts of the alimentary tract. These emotions adversely affect the adrenalin gland. This may or may not be factor for you. You may or may not find some of this helpful. I just thought I'd throw it out here. RE: CSRe: OT - Apple Cider Vinegar Tea - OT
Hi, Charles, I'm afraid it was plain old Heinz variety. Will have to get some raw organic at the health food store when I go to town next Thursday. Our Farmer's Market opens that day, It is only open on Thursdays from 2:30 to 5:30 and this year, for the first time, on Saturday mornings for a couple of hours. I am looking forward to fresh green beans and zucchini. I rather doubt that much of this produce is organic, but at least it is relatively fresh if you get there early, and hasn't sat in the store for who knows how long. Many of the folks keep their produce in ice chests. People were able to garden early this year, hence the early opening. We had spells of really warm weather, reasonable rain most of the spring and no late frost like last year. I do so much appreciate all the ideas you folks are sending me. Think I sent you a message earlier, a day or so ago, Charles about why I doubt that I can use the meds suggested on the link you sent. Unless I am speaking to two different Charlses. Hi Ruth, Well, I'm sorry to hear that... the only question I have is, what brand of vinegar was it? Was it raw, and organic? The next question is, in the subject you said 'Tea' - I just want to confirm that the water is plain, unheated water? Hot water would kill/deactivate most if not all of the enzymes in the vinegar, which is what works the magic. One other thing you could try is also mixing some raw honey with it - and again, by raw honey, I mean truly raw. There are only a very few commercially available brands that are truly raw - YS Organics, and 'Really Raw' are two that I am sure of. I have seen a couple more brands at Harry's the last time I bought honey that looked like they were really raw, but haven't tried any of them yet. -- The Silver List is a moderated forum for discussing Colloidal Silver. You can pick both up at your health food store, ACV and the booklet. One of my all time favorite things to do with ACV is make Tea. One or two teaspoons of ACV in 8-10 oz. of boiled pure water, with a teaspoon of good honey. YUM! Especially after dinner, or for a treat during the day. Sasha ---Original Message--- From: Charles Marcus Would you describe this as 'heartburn', or 'indigestion'? If so, one very simple thing that will usually solve this kind of problem is, believe it or not, raw apple cider vinegar - say, a teaspoon or so in an 8 oz glass of water. Most people don't know that heartburn is not a problem of too *much* acid, it is a problem of not *enough* - demonstrated by the fact that adding raw apple cider vinegar will cure the problem (it is good for many other things as well). Hi, Barbara, I found Fiber-sure a Clear-Mixing Fiber Supplement. sugar free, 25 calories per 1 tsp . serving, can be taken 3 times a day. The tsp. should be heaping. Total carbs 6 grams, Dietary fiber 5 grams, Soluble fiber 5 grams. That is in each heaping teaspoon or each dose. If you take it 3 times a day, you would get 15 grams of fiber.Flavor free, grit free, non-thickening. Active ingredients: Inulin, natural vegetable fiber. Distributed by Proctor and Gamble, Made in Belgium. www.fibersure.com. Mix with room temperature liquid or mashed vegetables, etc. The Inulin thing struck me in a positive way due to other posts on Eskimo.com about its value. They suggested starting with once a day and working up, but since we have been using fiber for longer, not sure if that would be necessary, still this product does have alot of fiber per dose. Re: CS Colon and Coconut Oil
Hi,. Rowena, I feel blessed to have so many helpers on this website! Thank you all! Wish I could do all the things that everyone suggests. I haven't yet tried coconut oil, that is an option since it is a food not a pill. Actually, I may also heed what others are saying about my body being my own and the doctor doesn't have the final say about what I put into it. But I feel I need to give this regimen a reasonable try. I have changed from Citrucel which burned going down and went against everything in my diet plan. My body has had very, very little sugar in the past three years for instance. Citrucel contains alot of sugar and additives. I eat no additives, only plain fruits and vegetables, though limited in variety. Now I am trying something called Unifiber that can be mixed with food. Still not what I really want to put in my body, consists ofposered cellulose, corn syrup solids (sugar), and Xanthan Gum. Know I have read something negative about the last one. Yesterday I tried an idea I got from the list (smitt?) , about using a few drops of apple cider vinegar in a little water for the burning pain. That did work. Felt really good. I did that late afternoon and again at bedtime. I am wondering if that is contributing to the diarrhea I am having today. Pain was better all morning, but now is strong again. Will try the vinegar again. I also realize that it would be better to go all alternative, however, there comes a time when something definitive has to be done when one's individual anatomy is concerned. I keep praying that the Lord will guide me . I can see definite purposes for his allowing this in my life. I know - I have a medical grade ozone generator made by Saul Pressman (and have been using it for many years). -- The Silver List is a moderated forum for discussing Colloidal Silver. RE: CSAnatomy of Ruth's colon/doctors unpopular on list
Thanks, Gail. I agree with all you have said. My age is certainly a big factor. It is one of the things that makes the surgeon reluctant to just go ahead and do the surgery without exploring alternatives first. Of course, I have to turn to places like the Eskimo list to get help in that direction, and I do have to pick and choose carefully and not try more than one thing at once. You asked about the extent of the surgery proposed. Several options have been spoken of. One is the total removal. My personal physician is in favor of that, because if taking only part of the colon does not help enough, or fails, which it sometimes does, then a second surgery becomes necessary at a later date. I don't have too many later dates, comparatively speaking. However the surgeon (3 of them!) and one gastroenterologist have spoken of removing 90% but leaving the rectum. With this one, I would almost surely have diarrhea or very loose material at the beginning, but that often wears off and can be helped with medication to thicken things. I am torn between the two possibilities. Will see if it comes to that. I try to remember not to drink around mealtime, though. I realize the word Doctor is not a very good word here, but , nonetheless there are enough actual physical problems with my colon to warrant seeking help from one. == Hello Ruth, I accord to me that this is the very problem which you've suffered from at a very early age. Probably born with it. You mentioned you have an extra long, floppy colon that tends to kink. You also mentioned your age to be 79, if memory serves me. Perhaps in younger years, when there was better muscle support, the problem wasn't as bad? However, like everything else, when we age, things start moving south. That alone could cause even more kinking. With all that, I'm not sure if the things that have been suggested would be adequate to correct the situation. I was also wondering if they do have to do the surgery, would they just be removing some extra colon, taking out the excess while leaving the rest? As far as the word doctor being unpopular here, each will have to speak for themself. It's not unpopular to me. However, you have to realize most have not been able to get whatever problem they are faced with resolved by allopathic treatment, and have thus turned to alternative means. I don't have a problem with that at all. Personally, I would love to see things integrated so that one would compliment the other. There are times when both alternative and allopathy have their limitations. IMO, sometimes we need the help of both. Take care, Gail Looking for earth-friendly autos? Certainly not here in the UK would they come out at night! You have to be literally dying for them to do that, and then they only send out a locum who usually knows diddly squat (one diagnosed me with gastric enteritis when it was actually almost a ruptured gall bladder) my husband called out an ambulance against his wishes, or I could have been dead! Also, even here in the UK the GP's are if not stinking rich, then very nicely off. The consultants are stinking rich though, and they don't do any work. Hi, Charles, Thank you! I do believe this may be the answer. The symptoms listed certainly fit.Ruth From Ruth Strackbein From: Charles Marcus tansta...@libertytrek.org Reply-To: silver-list@eskimo.com To: silver-list@eskimo.com Subject: CSRe: Ruths digestive problem... Date: Wed, 27 Jun 2007 13:16:27 -0400 I don't have a gall bladder any more. Bingo! Ruth, the gall bladder is responsible for storing bile produced by the liver, and then dumping it when it is needed for digestion of fats - bile is what is *required* to digest fats of any kind... See this link for more info: http://tinyurl.com/32eeva Then see this link - scroll down to where it talks about 'Gall Bladder Relief Kits'... You absolutely need to start taking bile - and I'd say HCL supplements - asap... this very well may be the 'miracle' you've been looking for. I put 'miracle' in quotes because it really isn't - it is just the ignorance of the doctors that have been treating you. -- The Silver List is a moderated forum for discussing Colloidal Silver.
