Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Search No Longer Works?
If anyone else has this problem, that would be the first thing I would try: disable that plugin. YMMV Nope, wrong advise. You should do what I asked you to do twice: check your log files. They probably would have told you that the scanner crashed during the creation of the fulltext index. Which caused the search failure as well as the "infinite" scan duration. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Search No Longer Works?
Reviving this just because after all of this time of not being able to do simple searches, I found out completely by accident what is keeping me from doing searches: the "Full text search" plugin. I disabled it last night for a completely different issue and for the first time in almost two years, the simpler method (and more responsive for me, anyway) of searching now works. If anyone else has this problem, that would be the first thing I would try: disable that plugin. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Search No Longer Works?
There is always the option to try it with a virtual machine running linux - you can mount your network share in there and you could see if it is the file server or the LMS installation on Windows. If it works under Linux with network share mounted in Linux, you can rerun the scan but with a shared folder which points to your mapped network folder under Windows - if this works, the problem is with the windows LMS installation (or configuration). I'm not concerned about how long it takes to scan, although I do agree that even with this setup it does take very long. There is a lot of idle time at night (early morning) and mornings and early afternoon where I'm not listening to music anyway. But I would like to get it to do searches again, if at all possible. BTW -- the HTPC is plenty fast, but for some reason it just got to where it would bog down regardless of trying fresh installs, etc. Even at times where I'm not streaming video at all. Not sure why. The original installation on the HTPC had gotten to where it was extremely slow, trying to access it via WebUI or the Controller would just lock up forever, and Scanner.exe would never finish and would completely lock up requiring a manual Force-Stop. I tried completely uninstalling/reinstalling several times over several months and clearing the library and rescanning multiple times. Nothing worked. Until I set up the server on the other computer. Playing music and radio is MUCH more responsive now but I cannot get it to do searches. Scanning 24k files over a network? Man, that's ugly. Have you tried mapping a drive letter to that share? You'd need to then reset your library location in LMS. I have this problem (no returns on searches) on all of them. They all come back with: 0 songs 0 albums 0 artists 0 genres I am occasionally able to run an advanced search and get a result but often that returns only 1 result (when there should be many) or even none. I really miss being able to do a quick search like I used to. That's a problem that's been around (for me, anyway) through two different server setups since LMS 7.8. I have done all of the suggested steps to check file tags for errors and nothing seems out of the ordinary. In fact, when I remove a file that the scanner seems to hang up on, it just hangs up on another (tried this about 30 times without success). But even when scans were taking forever and often hanging up completely (had to constantly kill scanner.exe via Task Manager), I was still able to do simple searches without a problem. I've had this problem for a while on a new server that I set up. Search no longer works except for Advanced Search which isn't always easy to do on my setup. Running 7.9.0 on a Win 10 machine. The library stats show: I guess you're talking about the web UI? What about other UIs, mobile apps etc.? Do you have a player connected to that LMS? Scanning new music files: \\HTPC\My Music (23496 of 25967) Running 692:46:22 And yes, that's much too long for a scan... Most likely it has crashed.
