Fwd: Email problem with Seamonkey
Hello everybody, Here is a problem with Seamonkey answering an email. When I click on reply, the mail jumps to xyz wrote, on.. (the reply header) but the the mouse-click vertical line enabling me to type my reply is not where it should be. It should be above the line xyz wrote (tjhe reply header) and there it was on previous editions of Seamonkey. Now, the vertical line is somewhere in the middle of the incoming old mail and there is no vertical line. I have to activate it by left-clicking on the mouse and then I must scroll on top of the mail, just above xyz wrote... the reply header. How can I obtain automatically that clicking on reply brings me right on top of the reply header as some months ago? Hope this is clear enough. It's now 2:10p CDT, here, and no change. I confirm * text email still works * text email with graphic attachments work * HTML email WITHOUT graphics work * HTML email WITH graphics are still bombing This is in SM 2.7.2. I've learned to never expect anything effective from ATT phone support. I invested in an external dial-up modem on eBay for those times when DSL dies, so that I wouldn't have to talk to India ever again, but that's no help today. And they think it's ONLY Thunderbird. Perhaps when (if) they fix it for Thunderbird, it'll work for us. Lisa Wiser wrote: Well, it's now 10am EDT and I just got off the phone with ATT support. They still are clueless. Gee ... Since I spent most of the weekend having to email off this server mailer instead of my SeaMonkey and spent 2 wasted phone calls, as have everyone else who called in, why bother? I suppose I shouldn't have been so flip. To me this isn't a fix it's a work around. The problem is on ATT/Yahoo's end. And there are probably a number of people who have not come to the Mozilla group because they wouldn't be comfortable making a change like this. Also, if ATT/Yahoo have to spend time fixing this, next time just maybe when they put in some fix, they'll test with the Mozillas as well as IE, Chrome and whatever. They aren't marked read only. Can I reinstall Seamonkey to maybe fix the problem and not lose anything? Read that link above again regarding profiles. If you reinstall SM the profile is NOT touched. The program and profile (all your settings) are kept in two different locations. A reinstall does not affect your profile. What you might want to investigate is creating a new profile and then migrating your old info (email accounts, bookmarks, passwords etc) to the new profile. Just be careful to not do a wholesale migration. If you do, you'll simply transfer any problems from the old to the new. The same page above has some links to info on this: http://edmullen.net/mozilla/moz_profile.php I have read and don't understand fully. However I did reinstall Seamonkey and didn't change anything. I downloaded and installed Thunderbird and it works OK. Just above the start position on the screen there is a little icon for Seamonkey mail. Is there a way I can get a icon there for Thunderbird? When I installed Thunderbird I didn't have to fill out port, security or the pop and smtp info. Did it get all that info from Seamonkey? With Seamonkey closed, use you My Computer or Windows Explorer to locate your inbox (the one without an extension) to see what size it is, then right click on it, have a look at the Properties to make sure it is not marked as Read Only Report back. Looked in Mozilla, Seamonkey and did a search for inbox On a Windows machine, the default location would be C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\Application Data\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\Profiles\.default\Mail\maildirectory where YourNameHere is your name for purposes of the Windows OS, is a random alphanumeric string, and maildirectory is normally your ISP's POP mail server name (if you have several accounts within the profile, this is the easiest way to tell them apart). You should see a file called Inbox, another file called Inbox.msf, and a folder called Inbox.sbd. The first one contains the actual messages, the second is an index file, and the third would contain any subdirectories of Inbox. Under the conditions you describe, it seems likely that the error message is erroneous (some program somewhere is confused). As a last resort, I checked the cookies that had been blocked. Deleted all the blocked cookies and everything is now working normally. I would delete this message but that wouldn't help, so hopefully this will take care of needless responses. When I jump over to the ATT/yahoo home page and check mail there for the filters that I have set up, I am asked to verify my password, over and over and over. I tried it with IE and firefox and it works just fine so I have concluded that it is something with SM since firefox and SM use the same profile etc. Any hints, suggestions or go to's would be appreciated. 1. SM1.1.18 is the latest one. 2. Test with a new Seamonkey-profile (use Profile-Manager) 3. Even if it is a bug, SM1.1.x won't receive anything except security fixes, feel free to test again with the release candidate of SM2.0 http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/2.0rc1 regards Martin Martin, thanks for the suggestions, I did in fact install .18 and it didn't make any difference. Email problem
I'm having trouble getting the Sea Monkey Mail Client to work with my Yahoo account, it keeps telling me there is an password failure though the password I set works OK if I use the Navigator and log in manually. Any help would be appreciated. John Belton ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
email problem
I have a problem with an error message saying that the email cannot be saved to the sent mail folder. This message comes up twice with each email that it happens with. Also, and I don't know if it is connected, but the emails that are saved are saved twice. I have 2 saved messages for every one that was sent and saved. One shows being read, the other being unread. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
