RE: fire fox

2017-10-11 Thread David Moore via Talk
to show as soon as you start
Chrome.
There are three radio buttons to pick from, but I chose to open with a specific
page or pages, which is the third radio button.
Under this, you can type in the URL of the web site that you want to open when
you start Chrome.
Under this, there is a link where you can add more pages you want to show when
Chrome starts up.
Now, we are up to the search engin heading.
This is a heading.
There are headings on this settings page.
I chose to use Google search engin in the address bar. This is a combo box.
The next heading, is on start up.
Finally, here is where you set up your home page.
There are three radio buttons here.
I chose the third one, to open a selected page or selected pages.
Next, I was able to enter:
www.Google.Com.
That is my home page that will open each time I start Chrome.
Next important group of settings, the advanced settings.
Now, you have to press enter on the advanced settings button before more
headings of settings will show.
The Advanced settings are collapsed, so you have to press enter to show more
headings of settings.
Now that these advanced settings are open, we get to the next heading of
settings.
There is much more we can customize under the advanced settings.
Privacy and security heading:
Down arrow from here, and you hear:
Use a web service to resolve navigation errors.
You have a clickable, and a toggle.
Press spacebar to toggle this on or off.
Again, ignore the clickables.
Now you have:
Use a prodiction service to enable you in searches.
I left this unchecked.
Next, you have a setting to speed up the loading of web pages:
I checked this with spacebar.
The next three settings I just left alone.
I checked the one that says:
Use a web service to help with spelling.
I leave manage certificates alone.
Next, you have content settings, but this is not a new heading.
We are still working with the same heading.
The only thing of interest here, is the clear history button.
This was available in the virtical menu, so don't worry about this.
Now, we get to the next heading of settings.
Passwords and forms:
Under this heading, just make sure that you check to be able to have Chrome
save passwords.
Languages Heading:
I did nothing with this.
Downloads heading:
This is where you choose where you want your downloads to be saved on your
computer.
Printing heading:
I did nothing with this.
Accessibility heading:
I did nothing with this.
Now, we have the System heading:
Down arrow, and you hear:
Continue running background apps, when Google Chrome is Closed.
I have this unchecked.
Next,
Use hard ware excelloration when Available.
I have this checked.
Next, you hear:
Open proxy settings button.
I left this alone.
Last Heading LOL!
Reset.
Here, you can reset all settings back to their origional.
We are done with Settings.
Now, just press CTRL+F4 to get back to the Freedom Scientific Web site.
This settings web page, opens in another tab.
That is it for settings.
Notice, we made a lot of changes under the advanced settings. You cannot see
these, unless you press enter to expand these.
Now, press the Alt key again. Up arrow once to get to the end of the menu where
we were with the settings.
You see exit, up arrow and you see the help sub menu, right under the settings
choice.
I press right arrow on this help sub menu, and you can enter on the help center
to get a lot of help using Chrome.
To open a web site, just press CTRL+L or Alt+D and type the URL.
Chrome for me, is so much quicker with web sites that involve streamming TV and
Watching movies, and so on.
For me, Chrome opens large news sites very quickly compared to IE.
Lastly, All JAWS and NVDA navigation key commands work in Chrome. For example,
you can press F7 to open a list of links with JAWS, and the elements list with
NVDA. All of that is the exact same.
This is the end of the tutorial.

Hi. Are you sure that FF isn't opening a new tab when you hit this
link? If it seems like it's doing nothing use ctrl-tab to see if there's
an additional tab open. I actually have FF set to immediately open new
tabs if they are created. This is not FF's default behavior.

RE: QuickBooks with WE?Re: fire fox updating itself

2015-07-12 Thread slery via Talk
I am currently using Freshbooks with NVDA and Talkback on my android phone.
There a couple of things that are a little tricky, but once you figure them
out it is okay. The only thing I haven't been able to do is remove tasks
from a project. You can add tasks just fine. I am still a novice screen
reader so I am just not know how to get there.

I still have some vision, though I use a screen reader 90% of the time now.
When I go to remove a task with the mouse, it does say remove, so I guess I
just haven't figured out how to get there with the keyboard yet.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. And, their customer
service is awesome.

QuickBooks with WE?Re: fire fox updating itself

2015-07-12 Thread Janet Brandly via Talk

Hello,

I'm looking for an easy-to-use accounting program for a small business and I
understand QuickBooks has been made accessible. Has anyone out there used it
with WE? If so, would you mind sharing your experiences-positive and
negative? If you'd prefer to do so off-list, please write to me at
jbran...@shaw.ca.

Thanks in advance,

Jan

Quickbooks works, but not all parts of it, I don't think anything will
happen unless we get more users who are going to actually USE it in
their every day business. More information is available at
http://myblindspot.org/services/a-tale-of-restored-abilities-and-infinite-possibilities
and there is a list for testing under WindowEyes.

Sounds good in theory but if Firefox is anything like Thunderbird from the

everything I can think of to stop TBird updateing from 31.7 to 38.1 but
nothing stops it. Well, that is on my system anyway.

I am interested in trying to rename Firefox in order to stop automatic

Do I go in to FF property's and rename FF there? Or, do I go some where
else to do the renaming?

And, just one more question please, which version of FF is the most
accessible with WindowEyes 9.1 and Jaws 16?

Thank you,

RE: fire fox updating itself

2015-07-10 Thread Don Mauck via Talk
You might find that even after unchecking the update box, Firefox will still
try to perform the update. If that happens, you can stop this behavior by
renaming the firefox.exe to firefoxold.exe and then launch that renamed
executable. This will force Firefox to create a new firefoox.exe which will
then recognize your current version and stop trying to automatically update.

Tools, options, advanced check never update. It will say not recommended but
will allow you to check it.

Re: fire fox help

2015-03-12 Thread net bat via Talk
make sure that the ff window is not maximized or you will not be able to
open any of the pull down menus. you max and restore the window with f11.
you can open the bookmark list from the pull down menu, by pressing control
i or control b.
the book mark menu i think is the one. it needs to be maximized before the
book marks will show.
