I see that in ordinary folders.

No wonder I can't see any difference. I only have three virtual
folders and their parent is "< Root Folder >", so there is no "upper
level".

Thank you for clearing that up for me.

Just tried it. When a folder has some sub-folders, the counts Unread
an Total in the parent folder will show in parenthesis the
corresponding counts of the sub-folders, except VFs if they don't have
the option "Count in upper level" selected.

Virtual folder properties - Count in upper level

For virtual folders, in the properties dialog the Filter tab has a
checkbox called "Count in upper level". What does this do? I can't see
what effect it has, although I don't know what to look for.

Using folder properties in filters and templates

2009-07-05 Thread Alexander E. Gutman
Hello, friends.

I have got lots of folders and reorganize them often.

Whenever a new penpal (P) occurs, I usually create
a folder (PF) for storing the related communication.
Since I want the incoming/outgoing messages be stored
in PF automatically, I usually create the corresponding
pair of filters which move incoming/outgoing messages
to PF according to Sender/Recipient.

What I am dreaming of is automating the filtering
and making it as easy as entering P's address (or two)
somewhere in PF's properties (e.g., in PF's memo).

If folder memos were searchable via macros, I could
create a single pair of filters with condition like
Some folder's memo contains 'addr%Sender/%Recipient/addr'
and action like Move to the folder
%FirstFolderWhoseMemoContains='addr%Sender/%Recipient/addr'
or something similar.

I do understand that the above is realizable via AB
with some clever macros/regexps but I cannot use fixed
folder paths in AB, since my folders are permanently
reorganized.

In addition, I would like to use PF's properties
(rather than AB) for specifying additional info on P
(such as greetings, etc.) for using in message templates,
but I am not aware of macros which can help me.
Currently I enter P's info in PF's templates,
but this leads to unpleasant duplicating the info
needed for New Message and Reply templates.
Again, I could store the corresponding info in PF's memo,
but it is useless without a %FolderMemo macro.

Any ideas?

I don't know about an older release, but beta 18 is available:

This folder issue is reported to have been fixed in beta 13, so I shall try

4.0.34.15 to 4.0.34.19 and 4.0.34.21 are all available from links like
the one you posted. A quick look at the TBBETA archives confirms them
all as ALPHA versions.

Perhaps I should go back to an earlier version to avoid the folder

known issues with reverting from 4.0.34 to either of these?

Oh, you did do it absolutely correctly, and I very much appreciate it,
including the illustrative jpeg you appended.

I wrote a response to your note there, as you've probably seen by now:

Just to clarify that at 120 dpi, no matter how far I drag the window's
margin, the check boxes never appear.

However, even at 96 dpi, I had to make the window size almost the
width of the screen to see them.

I think that the Folder Properties dialogue box should operate at
settings above 96 dpi as flawlessly as the Account Properties dialogue
box does.

Seems like similar code writing to that for the Account/Properties
buttons, scrollable menus, and check boxes should do the trick.

Although, I'm not a programmer, so I don't know that for sure.

Create an account for yourself by going to

clicking on Signup for a new account at the top of the page.

That's what Chris was suggesting in his post,

You will then get an automatic e-mail from Bug Tracker whenever the

From other posts, I gather that more major revisions to The Bat!'s

unsatisfactory one.

There's only the hard way: Typing/pasting them in each subfolder.

Folder properties

2002-08-17 Thread Pat Gilbert

Hi,
I am starting to recieve more unpleasant spam (hardcore) at home and I
have set up necessary filters. The Bat! neatly moves all the rubbish
to the trash folder and I have set it to delete on exit. The problem
is that I want to prevent my young children, whilst still in the same
session from then opening the trash folder and reading the spam
anyway.

I was hoping that the Bat! allowed passwords on a folder basis but I
can only see an account password. Is there a way to do this?

Many thanks for any assistance - I am still trying to get a handle on
the power in this excellent program.

No, there isn't. You can however use Selective Download filtering
instead, that way the spam won't even reach your computer. The problem
with this method is that you can't browse the filtered messages to see
if something has been filtered which shouldn't, but if you don't want
to do that, try the Selective Download.

In the selective filters, you can choose to ignore the spam

The problem was i was confusing myself about what the "Do not use from
name for reply-to address" actually did. I was thinking that it would
remove the from name from *every* replied message, instead of from the
messages that had a different reply-to address in it.

Folder Properties -- Use Account Default Settings

2000-09-25 Thread Gary Mort

Hello TBUDL,

I use one fairly standard set of sorting/columns for all my folders.

I noticed in the folder options a setting to "use the account default
folder properties".

So, I go to my main account window and change the columns, then go to
my inbox and select use default and it goes to the program default,
not the settings I want. Going back to the main account line show the
program default again.

So, where is this default set?

I did not quite get it: you have different email addresses for
