[tw5] Request for help (Dutch translation)

2021-06-05 Thread Ton Gerner

For TW 5.1.6 (6 years ago) I made the Dutch translation and updated it
since then.
Due to lack of time I cannot update it anymore.
I noticed some Dutch speaking members in the group; therefore I ask if
someone can take over updating the Dutch translation.

Thanks in advance,

Ton

[tw5] Re: Breadcrubs (tiddlersbar) browser-like funcionality

2021-03-03 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Damon,

What strikes me is the tiddlersbar displays behind the tiddlers; normally
it is the other way around.
It can be caused by leftovers from the old breadcrumbs plugin: look for
overridden shadow tiddlers
(Controlpanel > Info > Basics; click the search at 'Number of overridden
shadow tiddlers).
Look for $:/plugins/tongerner/breadcrumbs/... and
$:/plugins/tongerner/layout_adjustment/...
Delete all these overridden shadow tiddlers.

Note that the tiddlersbar plugin and the matching layout plugin will have
overridden shadow tiddlers as well ($:/plugins/tg/...)!

Check if you have the newest versions of the Tiddlersbar plugin (v 0.0.21)
and Layout tweaks plugin (v 0.5.4) available at
www.tongerner.nl/TW5/TW5_playground.html. In case of upgrading be sure to
delete overridden shadow tiddlers of both plugins (if required note down
adjusted settings).

The position of the tiddlersbar is controlled by the Tiddlerbar settings:
Left Tiddlersbar and Top Tiddlersbar.

Hope that helps,

Ton

[tw5] Re: How to display buttons on left side

2021-01-05 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Stefan,

To increase the size (and distance) of the buttons you need to add a width
and height for the svg button (plus a margin for the distance).

The color for the svg button can be set with the appropriate button class.

Try something like the following between ... or in a
separate stylesheet (tiddler tagged with $:/tags/Stylesheet):

.tgc-fixed {
 position: fixed;
 top: 60px;
 width: 25px;
 left: 10px;
 background-color: transparent;
 z-index: 200;
}

.tgc-fixed button svg {
 fill: <>;
 width: 2em;
 height: 2em;
 margin: 10px 0px;
}

.tgc-fixed button:hover svg {
 fill: #0044BB;
}

.tgc-fixed button svg.tc-image-new-button {
 fill: green;
}

Adapt to your liking.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Ton

[tw5] Re: [ANN] Moved my TW5 stuff

2020-12-31 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Dave,

You are fast ;-)

But it is better to use *http://www.tongerner.nl/TW5/TW5_index.html* (as
given in the OP) instead of http://80.56.108.132/TW5/TW5_playground.html

1)
I host my TW5 stuff on my home server.
I own the domain name www.tongerner.nl which will be forwarded to the IP
address I got from my internet provider. If for some reason that IP address
changes (e.g. switching of internet provider or when I host my site at an
outside server) I only have to change the forwarding.

2)
TW5_index.html is the starting page for 'My playground' and other TW5 stuff
(e.g. my guides now only available at TiddlySpot).

3)
At the moment some of my plugins refer to demos at TiddlySpot; that need to
be changed.

I also took the liberty of changing the links for the following four items
> to http://80.56..., which are not listed in your plugin dropdown there
> but are in fact there as tiddlers. Are they items you need to add to your

In 'My playground':
Timestamp & Pretty link button can be found via tabs Plugins > Editor
toolbar buttons

[tw5] Re: [ANN] Moved my TW5 stuff

2020-12-31 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Tony,

Thanks for asking.
In the past I hosted my website in (the free version of) Dropbox but at a
certain moment it was not possible anymore.
Thereafter I used an old NAS as home webserver. When that NAS died I used
https://www.pestmeester.nl/index.html to create a reasonable scure nginx
webserver on a Raspberry Pi. I tried - but did not succeed - to get a SSL
certificate (via Let's Encrypt) working.
I did learn a lot creating a Raspberry Pi webserver.
I do not use a CDN or other web creating software. The basis has been made
with pure HTML and CSS, linking to TiddlyWiki's.

And since a few days I hosted 'My playground' on my server as well. If time
permits (some of) my guides (now non-upgradable at TiddlySpot) will follow.

Cheers,

Ton

[tw5] Re: Improve search function

2020-12-30 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Stefan,

As Mario states: "Not everyone has the same preferences. That's why we do
have plugins. ... "

See the way I implemented my Tags search (as part of my Top toolbar
plugin): http://www.tongerner.nl/TW5/TW5_index.html > TW5 playground

* Click at Advanced search in the top toolbar and choose Tags search
* Choose e.g tag 'documentation'
* Select a sorting criterion
* The resulted list show titles with creation and modification dates
* Options are:
** Expand a tiddler
** Open a tiddler
** Delete a tiddler

Cheers,

Ton

Hi guys,

(And yes, http://www.tongerner.nl/TW5/TW5_index.html translates to

Since TiddlySpot cannot be used anymore, I decided to host my TW5 stuff at
my Raspberry Pi home server.

'My playground' with themes, plugins and a few code tiddlers can be found
at: http://www.tongerner.nl/TW5/TW5_index.html

At this moment only the TW5.1.22 guides at TiddlySpot are available.

When time permits I will upgrade (some of) my guides and host them on my

[tw5] Re: Emphasized theme and Tinka plugin style

2020-11-25 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Wu Wei,

The Emphasized theme overrides default button styles.
After playing with palettes I can conclude the problem you mentioned with
the Emphasized theme in combination with the Tinka plugin occurs with
certain palettes.
When you use the Emphasized theme with 'working' palettes like Contrast
Dark, Contrast Light, Nord, ... the Tinka buttons display as expected.
When using 'non working' palettes like Blanca, Blue, Vanilla, ... the Tinka
buttons turn white.
So what is the difference between these set of palettes?
The 'working' palettes all define button background and button foreground.
The 'non working' palettes do NOT define the button background and button
foreground.

Adding:

button-background: <>
button-foreground: <>

or

button-background: transparent
button-foreground: inherit

to the 'non working' palettes makes them 'working'.

Hope this helps,

Ton

[tw5] Re: Emphasized theme and Tinka plugin style

2020-11-23 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Wu Wei,

Sorry but I cannot reproduce your results.

Using TW 5.1.21, Tinka 0.5.0, the Emphasize theme 0.0.17 and the Vanilla
palette I get the attached screenshot.[image: Emphasized_vanilla.png]
But using other palettes and/or stylesheets can give problems and it looks
like you are using a special palette/stylesheet (colors of the tabs;
missing line below the tabs)

Anyway try to inpect the CSS of the tabs using the developer tools of the
browser (F12).

Hope that helps,

Ton

[tw5] Re: How to make the tiddlywiki only can be edit in some of the ip or the read only mode?

2020-09-25 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi

Since you mention 'predifined button', I assume you did install the 'simple
readonly' plugin.
If you refresh your wiki after installing that plugin, a 'publish' button
(square with pencil) will be available next to the hide/show sidebar button
(top right).
Clicking that button openes a separate window with 4 tabs.
Do read the Help tab (the tutorial you asked for) carefully before
proceding.
Carry out the mentioned steps and reload your wiki after the last step
(save).

Hope that helps.

Re: [tw5] Re: TW5 top toolbar 6.19 - Tagging in view mode broken

2020-09-15 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Victor,

Ah, I see that it is broken. I only checked in my last post if the tag
field did appear, but did not check if adding tags works. Must have to do
with changes in TW 5.1.22 (the tagging in view mode button toggles the
$:/core/ui/ViewTemplate/tags at a (an old) copy of
$:/core/ui/EditTemplate/tags

That said, the experimental versions do work as you can check at
http://tw5exp.tiddlyspot.com/
Here the tag will be toggled at $:/core/ui/EditTemplate/tags itself and not
a copy of it.
Do this test at a desktop PC; on mobile there are problems, see below

I made these plugins for desktop use; on mobile there is not much room for
all these buttons.

The plugin tweaks window opens in a new window on desktop but in a new tab
on mobile.
In this window you have to check the 'Tagging in view mode' and readjust
the order of tags (especially $:/core/ui/EditTemplate/tags) via the
$:/core/ui/ViewTemplate/tags tag pill.
I did not manage to reorder the tags on mobile; drag & drop does not work,
so you have to do it on a desktop PC. Otherwise the tag field in view mode
stays at the bottom.

Hope that helps,

Ton

Hi Victor,

Just tested with http://tw5toolbar.tiddlyspot.com/
On my desktop PC I use Linux Mint 20. Firefox 80.0.1 and Chrome
83.0.4103.116 do work there.
On my phone (Android 8.0.0) it works with Firefox 80.1.3 and Chrome
85.0.4183.101.
On my iPad (iPadOS 13.7) it works with Safari and Chrome (don't know
version numbers).

Hope that helps,

2020-09-15 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Victor,

You are referring to my guide TW5 top toolbar v 6.19, so I assume you are
using:

* Layout plugin v 0.4.34
* Toolbar plugin v 0.3.38

As Birthe says it works at http://tw5toolbar.tiddlyspot.com/ (using TW v
5.1.22). It works in her wiki(s) and my wiki(s).

> However this functionality doesn't work anymore...

When did it stop, what changes did you make?

Anyway, you can try simplified (checkboxes instead of buttons) experimental
versions of both plugins, available at http://tw5exp.tiddlyspot.com/:

* Layout plugin v 0.4.35
* Toolbar plugin v 0.4.1

Hope that helps,

Ton

2020-08-11 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Mat,

Tried version 2 of your SideEditor at TiddlySpot and love it, especially
the possiblity of 'Open in a new window'.

A few remarks:

1) I don't see a way to cancel the SideEditor (other than using the Save
and close button (√))
2) When opened in a new window:
2.1) The Save and close button (√) disappeares from the toolbar
2.2) Resizing the window (width > 960px) results in
2.2a) Change in layout (centralized with margins > 240px)
2.2b) The toolbar disappears

See attached screenshots

Cheers,

Some time ago I listed all used z-index values in TW see

And yes it is working now. I see the chevron at it's original position so
the right aligning is there as well.

P.S. I totally missed the checkbox for Page Conrol buttons which adds the
active Page Control buttons. The right way to add buttons for a simple menu
bar!

Hi Jeremy,

I am using TW only on a desktop PC not on mobile; you have to deal with
mobile devices as well. That's different.

For a simple menu bar only a few buttons are of importance I think. E.g.
Home, New tiddler, Save, Control Panel, ... For experienced TW fans no
problem to add them by adding $:/tags/TopLeftBar / $:/tags/TopRightBar but
how do newbies it when they can't select buttons the way is done for the
other toolbars?
Or may be add a few default buttons?

The content of my topbar does not wrap. So if you decrease the window
width, my toolbar buttons fall off the screen ;-) But the Top Right Bar
buttons overlap my Top Left Bar buttons, but that's another problem. As I
wrote I only use a desktop PC where the problem does not exist (and there
is a more button).

Hi Jeremy,

Linux Mint 19.3, Firefox 73.0.1

First impression:

* Nice simple menu bar
* Sidebar button (chevron) not visible although selected: 'Legacy Top Right
Bar activated'
* Buttons tagged with $:/tags/TopRightBar are left aligned instead of right
aligned as in Top Right Bar
* I do miss the added buttons in the Menu Bar Configuration (like in the 4
toolbar configuration tiddlers) ** Like I missed these for Left and Right
Top Bar
* Legacy Top Left Bar & Leagcy Top Right Bar. Do I hear something like
deprecate?
* What do you mean with: It doesn’t work with sticky titles?

Hi David,

Why don't you use the core buttons for theme and palette switching?

$:/core/ui/Buttons/theme
$:/core/ui/Buttons/palette

You can just add an appropriate tag (e.g. $:/tags/ViewToolbar) or, if you
don't want to override shadow tiddlers, transclude them in tagged tiddlers.

You want to modify these items in the vIew toolbar?
If that's what you are after, you have to modify the buttons all tagged
with $:/tags/ViewToolbar

Create a tiddler containing <>
Click on the tagpill and you get a list of all tiddlers tagged with
$:/tags/ViewToolbar

But know what you are doing.
My Customization guide (http://tw5custom.tiddlyspot.com/) contains info

My Exploration guide (http://tw5exploration.tiddlyspot.com/) let you

I don't know what you mean by 'modify' but anyway In Control panel >
Appearance > Toolbars you can select what will be displayed in the
toolbar(s). The rest can be accessed by the More actions button(s).

When you create your own buttons, you can assign them to one or more
toolbars by adding the appropriate tag(s). These new button(s) can be
displayed on the toolbar, or - if unchecked in Control panel - under the
More actions button.

Does this answer your question?

As far as I know the problem stems from the fact that the editor is used in
an iFrame. See e.g. [2]
Another problem is that (caused by the iFrame) bookmarklets don't work
(they work with the editor toolbar switched off!)
I created a small toolbar (below the tags) for e.g. toggling the editor
toolbar on/off, preview on/off, scrollable preview on/off.

[tw5] Re: Free Button - Toggle Side bar Tabs

2020-02-01 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Tony,

An impressive piece of work.
I haven't had the time to look into the internals, but will do later.

It always strikes me this functionality can be also be done with one line
of wikitext:

<$checkbox tiddler="$:/core/ui/SideBarSegments/tabs"
tag="$:/tags/SideBarSegment"> Sidebar tabs

And although you can disguise checkboxes as buttons (as Mat already
mentioned in the other thread), I do use buttons as well instead of
checkboxes ;-)

Some remarks to be inline with the TW5 layout:

   1. Under the Tools tab, the information next to the checkbox of the
   'Hide sidebar button' misses a real button (with icon + caption text). The
   tagpill can be better left out. Description as: 'Toggle the sidebar tabs
   on/off' would be enough.
   2. Under Control panel > Appearance > Toolbars > Page Toolbar: the text
   next to the button (in the core buttons in the caption field) needs to be
   in lowercase and needs to be short (this caption text is the same as in the
   buttons under the Tools tab!). The description thereafter (in the core
   buttons in the description field) the same as under the Tools tab.

Cheers,

Ton

Yeah, lots of things in TiddlyWiki are triggered by button widgets as we

them.
When I have more time I 'll have a better look at all the core buttons.

I upgrade my macro to:

\define buttonto(tiddler,image,description,caption,tag)
<$button to="$tiddler$" tooltip="$description$"
class=<>>
<$list filter="[all[current]!has[caption]]">
<$action-setfield $field="caption" $value="{{$image$}} $caption$"/>
<$action-setfield $field="description" $value="$description$"/>
<$action-setfield $field="tags" $value="$tag$"/>

<$list filter="[match[yes]]">
{{$image$}}

<$list filter="[match[yes]]">
<$text text="$caption$"/>

\end

So after the first click (when a tag and fields are created) the action widgets
will not be active anymore.
And I corrected the tooltip which uses the text in the description field (the
naming in buttons is rather confusing with caption, description, tooltip, hint,
text).

Cheers,

Ton

Can you describe what occurs?

I just tested it at tiddlywiki.com and all seems normal.
Anyway, if you set in Control panel > Settings > Tiddler Info Panel Mode to
'Tiddler info panel stays open until explicitly closed', you can open the
info panel of the button tiddler.
At the first click at the button, made with the macro, you can see the

[tw5] Re: Button Factory how to?

2020-01-30 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Tony,

I was thinking of macros for making buttons.
In case of a button that calls a tiddler (in many use cases, and in the
core the buttons for control panel, tiddler manager and tag manager) it can
be done.

As proof of concept I made the following macro:

\define buttonto(tiddler,image,description,caption,tag)
<$button to="$tiddler$" tooltip="$tooltip$" class=<>>
<$action-setfield $field="caption" $value="{{$image$}} $caption$"/>
<$action-setfield $field="description" $value="$description$"/>
<$action-setfield $field="tags" $value="$tag$"/>
<$list filter="[match[yes]]">
{{$image$}}

<$list filter="[match[yes]]">
<$text text="$caption$"/>

\end

To 'recreate' the Control panel button, create a tiddler containing:

<>

When clicking the button (cogwheel in this created tiddler)

   1. the tiddler will be tagged with $:/tags/ViewToolbar
   2. the caption and description fields will be created
   3. a control panel button will be added to the tiddler controls
   4. in Control panel > Appearance > Toolbars > View toolbar an extra
   control panel button with checkbox will be added

With given macro tiddler manager and tag manager can be `recreated` as well.
Many user buttons that call a tiddler with certain functionality in it can
be created with this macro.

Notes for this proof of concept

   1. You need to click the button in the button tiddler once to add tag,
   caption and description field; thereafter th real button will be available
   2. After that the 3 action-setfield widgets will be activated with each
   button click while there is no need for it anymore

So it needs some polishing but in principle it works.

Cheers,

Ton

Hi Markus,

Sorry I misunderstood.
As you found out transclusion is displayed as pure text.
The same holds for HTML entities like .
But if you copy/paste the displayed entity it works.

Hope that helps, there are a lot of HTML entities supported by TW 5, see

   1. Click the Stamp button

   4. Fill in the caption field with a descriptive name
   5. Enter a title for the tiddler

If you set the opening behaviour of tiddlers to 'Open at the top of the

can use the following button - displayed at the bottom right - to go to the
top of the story river.

Create a tiddler, tagged with $:/tags/PageTemplate, containing:

<$button class="tc-btn-invisible tgc-button-color">

<$list variable='Target' filter='[list[$:/StoryList]first[]]'>
<$action-navigate $to=<>/>

.tgc-fixed-bottom {

Upon inspection the (sidebar) Recent tab ($:/core/ui/SideBar/Recent) and

tiddlers (and with different tags $:/tags/SideBar & $:/tags/MoreSideBar)

It looks like $:/core/ui/SideBar/Recent is in the list of overridden shadow

If that is the case, just delete $:/core/ui/SideBar/Recent and the original

Hi Jon,

My Layout tweaks plugin can do this sticky behaviour although it does not
work well in preview mode.

To see it in action go to http://tw5toolbar.tiddlyspot.com/

Create over there a new tiddler and scroll up/down.

Note the extra toolbar below the tag field (not part of the Layout tweaks
plugin). With the buttons in there you can:

* Toggle editor toolbar
* Toggle preview
* Scrollable preview
* Toggle sidebar

Plugin and code for extra toolbar available at

(Or you can have a look at the sticky code in

 Danielo's Context (search) plugin v 2.1.0 does work in the latest version
of TiddlyWiki:

[image: Context_search.png]

There is one minor issue that does not affect the standard highlighting.
The class tw-context ought to be tc-context (TW 5.0.16 beta changed the
prefix for classe from tw- to tc-). 2 tiddlers contain tc-context:

* $:/plugins/danielo515/ContextPlugin/Stylesheet/results
* $:/plugins/danielo515/ContextPlugin/widgets/context.js

Cheers,

Ton

[tw5] Re: CSS: A sidebar for mobile

2019-11-07 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi all,

There are many ways leading to Rome.
Some time ago I made an experimetal mobile theme
,
where a menu button toggled between story river and sidebar. One of the
drawbacks was that after searching (in the sidebar) you had to switch back
to the story river to see the searched tiddler.

Lateron I changed the structure: with a button you can now toggle the
sidebar: it slides up/down.

I forgot to publish the new version. You can see a demo at
http://tw5mobile.tiddlyspot.com/ where you can import or drag & drop the
theme to your wiki.

NOTE: It is a real theme, so you can switch from e.g. Snow White to my
Mobie theme and vice versa.

Cheers,

Ton

[tw5] Re: What are the styles for a left menu?

2019-11-06 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Luis,

See also my answer here
. If
you use a centralised story river there will be no overlap. Only the left
menu AND sidebar decrease in width together.

Hope this helps.

[tw5] Re: Create a very simple left menu

2019-11-06 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Luis,

The left menu as described in my guide
uses a centralised story river.
As stated there it assumes a wide screen monitor, so left menu, story river
and sidebar can be seen together.

If you do not want a centralised story river (as is your case), you have to
shift the story river to the right AND you have to shift the sidebar to the
right as well. Add something like the following to your stylesheet:

.tc-sidebar-scrollable {
left: 1000px;
}

Adjust the left value to your needs.
Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Ton

[tw5] Re: Toolbar editor: 'Stamp' button: How do I delete a default snippet

2019-09-02 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi,

All snippets are tagged with $:/tags/TextEditor/Snippet

You can remove that tag from the $:/language/Snippets/MacroDefinition
tiddler which in effect creates an overridden shadow tiddler.

By creating a tiddler containing:

<>

you create a tagpill for the snippets. Clicking the tagpill let you select
all tiddlers tagged with $:/tags/TextEditor/Snippet.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Ton

[tw5] Re: TW & accessibilty (vision impairement)

2019-09-02 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi

The only problem I noticed with TW is the faded svg icons (like in the edit
> toolbar) but I don't believe that is so easily addressed since their
> reduced opacity if linked to function (that they gain full opacity for a
> hilited effect on mouse over)
>
> It has nothing to do with opacity; there are just separate colors for
standard, hovered (and sometimes sected) colors of the button svg icons.

Create a stylesheet with the following CSS code (extracted from the Vanilla
theme):

/* COLOR TIDDLER CONTROL BUTTONS */
.tc-tiddler-controls button svg, .tc-tiddler-controls button img, .tc-search
button svg, .tc-search a svg {
 fill: Magenta;
}

.tc-tiddler-controls button.tc-selected svg, .tc-page-controls
button.tc-selected
svg {
 fill: LimeGreen;
}

.tc-tiddler-controls button.tc-btn-invisible:hover svg, .tc-search button:hover
svg, .tc-search a:hover svg {
 fill: Blue;
}

/* COLOR PAGE CONTROL BUTTONS */
.tc-page-controls svg {
 fill: Magenta;
}

.tc-page-controls button:hover svg, .tc-page-controls a:hover svg {
 fill: Blue;
}

/* COLOR TOPBAR BUTTON */
.tc-topbar svg {
 fill: Magenta
}

.tc-topbar button:hover svg {
 fill: Blue;
}

/* COLOR EDITOR TOOLBAR BUTTONS */
.tc-editor-toolbar button {
 fill: Navy;
 background-color: Silver;
}
.tc-editor-toolbar button:hover {
 fill: Cyan;
 color: Cyan;
 background-color: CornflowerBlue;
}

And adjust the colors to your liking.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Ton
