[U2] B2B
Posted for non-member (Colin Lucas (The System Works) [EMAIL PROTECTED]). We are trying to test a secure B2B solution from within UV (version 10.0.8 on Unix variant TRU64 5.1b on an Alphaserver ES80) using XML https. The internet connection is via a proxy server that only listens for client connections on port 80. I have used setHTTPDefault to set the address of the proxy server and the port to 80; amongst other things. However, when I use submitRequest with a request handle created by a call to createSecureRequest it is directed to port 443 (SSL) of the proxy server. I have been able to determine this by using protocol logging and inspecting httplog. Normal http(80) through the proxy server is not a problem. Short of re-inventing the wheel and using the direct sockets API, can anybody shed some light on how to stop submitRequest when seeing https, deciding it must go to port 443 of the proxy. Unfortunately, due to some corporate constraints, changing the ports the proxy server listens on is not a trivial task. [U2] AIX printers direct
Forwarded on behalf of a non-member ([EMAIL PROTECTED]): We have approximately 600 printers that will be attached to UniVerse 10.1.2 on AIX 5.2.3. We do not want to use the Unix spooler, but want to keep the spooled files in UniVerse so they can be managed by the SP commands. Every time we us lp driver the file ends up in the Unix spooler and we have lost control through the SP commands. These printers are HP type printers connected through our network. [U2] Clarification - Free as in Liberty - Free as in Beer
All, A concern has been raised that the Charter discussion, and the U2UG as a whole, have accidentally blurred the line between the e-mail lists and the user group. Hopefully, this will help: The list has been a labor of love, first by Mike, then by Clif, and now by a team which includes myself and Larry Hiscock. As per our promise to Clif, the list is and will remain Free as in Liberty / Free as in Beer. This means that you don't have to belong to the U2UG to post on the list. You don't have to pay dues to post on the list. You don't have to share confidential information like phone number, street address, or favorite color in order to join the lists. You don't even have to contribute. Most list members are lurkers, neither asking nor answering questions. I, myself, lurked for six months before I felt I could even contribute occasional posts. The U2UG is a different labor of love. It started on U2-Community (part of the confusion) when Dawn found some like minded people (including Clif - another part of the confusion) and presented a simple idea: while the list is powerful because it has a free format, a user group could offer a focused format for the times when that is more effective (like planning events, coordinating with IBM on enhancements, and other more organized activities). The U2UG does have stewardship of the lists. We (U2UG) don't own them, we (everyone on u2-users u2-community) own them. All U2UG offers is the infrastructure to keep them running. And U2UG can only offer that due to Larry Hiscock's unselfishly providing free hosting for the lists. While I have your attention, I should also point out the IBM does not own the lists. They are glad we are here and several of their people contribute posts. However, the lists exist solely because we (everyone on u2-users u2-community) see a value to them. - Charles Barouch, Moderator and Proud of It [demime 1.01d removed an attachment of type text/x-vcard which had a name of u2ug.vcf] --- u2-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/

[U2] DATABASE write problem
POSTED FOR NON-MEMBER Anmol Chandrakant Khopade [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi, I am facing a problem wherein a WRITE operation to a type 19 file is failing in some cases. The call to STATUS() function within the ON ERROR clause returns error 40019. Strangely this problem does not occur for all the writes operations, but approximately 100 times (out of 60K write operations). The record id contains the current time, so it doesn't seem to be an issue of 2 concurrent writes using the same record id. A point to note that this file has read and writes happening simulatneously i.e. A process keeps writing records, while the other process keeps on polling this file to read the records. Any pointers to the below points will be highly appreciated 1. Documentation where the error number can be looked up (40019 in this case) 2. If anyone has encountered a similar problem with write operation on a type 19 files, and has a solution, it would really help. REPOSTED FOR NON-MEMBER: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I am trying to figure out how I can lock a UniData file (one that is in the process of being update) so that a 'list' command executed from a uniobject call will wait until the lock on the file is released before retrieving the data. To subscribe or resubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/. -- Phil That's one for Accuterm - Accuterm supports connectivity to U2 rather than vice-versa. Try using Dynamic Connect - if that works then the problem is with the Accuterm software, possibly with the DL software version included in this case. If DC does not work on a straight telnet outside SSH and you have a valid database license for DL then either you have a (very old) version; the version of DC is out of step with the database; or you have something else getting in the way. Device Licensing exchanges tokens between client and server using credentials obtained from the client (see SYSTEM(51)). If this information is being denied or trashed in some way then that would explain it to some extent. If DC works direct and not via SSH compare SYSTEM(51) between the two. I have assumed that you are using the correct DL shell if you are on Unix .. uv, uvsh and udt will not cut it. If however DC does not work within SSH - and it *does* work outside SSH then you have an issue with something SSH is doing. This may not be an easy one to resolve. Of course there is always SSL (included with the U2 clients and int he databases), Default port 992 I recall. REPOSTED FOR NON-MEMBER ADDRESS: [EMAIL PROTECTED] One thing everyone should remember when using find is that it is best to specify the exact directory that you want it to work on. cd /ud/production/_PH_ find . -mtime +90 -exec rm {} \; That works fine if you are manually typing it in and have confirmed that you are in the proper directory. But a dangerous problem arises if you are running the find command in a script or you neglect to verify what directory you are in. The . tells find to start searching in the current directory. For example: #!/bin/ksh cd /ud/production/_PH_ find . -mtime +90 -exec rm {} \; The above script works perfectly until the directory structure is changed or a drive mount fails to mount. What happens then is that the cd line fails but the find command is still active in the script. Then the find command then starts executing in whatever directory the script is running in. If it is a cron job run by root then the active directory is: / The find command will then go through the entire disk happily deleting any file older than 90 days and before you know it, you have a lot of extra drive space. To stop that from happening always specify what directory that you want find to start looking in, don't use the ., instead type it in like this: find /ud/production/_PH_ -mtime +90 -exec rm{} \; Sure, it is a little bit more typing but in the long run it will save you a lot of extra work restoring files. Here is how I script my routines to purge old files: #!/bin/ksh if cd /ud/production/_PH_ then find /ud/production/_PH_ -mtime +90 -exec rm {} \; else echo Directory is missing fi If the /ud/production/_PH_ directory is missing or unmounted the script does nothing more than print Directory is missing, it skips the find command altogether. The find command specifically states what directory to work in also. Jim --- u2-users mailing list u2-users@listserver.u2ug.org To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/
