আমার টেস্ট করা হয়নি, কিন্তু  আমি মনে করি.. BLUA থেকে উদ্যোগ নিয়ে উন্মুক্ত
আহ্বান করা যেতে পারে বিভিন্ন মডেল যেগুলো সবচেয়ে বেশি পাওয়া যায় এমনগুলোর
ইনস্টল করার পদ্ধতিগুলো ছড়িয়ে দেয়া সবার মাঝে। BLUA অনেকদিন থেকেই নীরব।
ব্যাপার কী? রিলিজ পার্টি কবে কোথায়?

[Ubuntu-BD] Mobidata Modem on Ubuntu

বন্ধুরা,
ফোরামে মবিডাটা মোবাইল উবুন্তুতে কনফিগার করেছি বলে সবাই প্রবল অবিশ্বাস এবং
প্রতিবাদও করেছেন।
ব্যক্তিগতভাবে আমি অনেককে ব্লগ, ইমেইল এবং ফোনের মাধ্যমে। আমার এক বন্ধু
খুলনা/মাগুরা ক্যান্টনমেন্টে এয়ার বেজে আছেন। তাকেও তার মবিডাটা মোডেম কনফিগার
করে দিয়েছি। MobiData সম্পর্কে অনেককে বলতেও শুনেছি লিনাক্সে হয়না। কিন্তু আমার
বন্ধুকে সম্পূর্ণ বেসিক টিউটোরিয়াল অনুসরণ করিয়ে তাকে কনফিগার করতে সাহায্য
করেছি এবং সে এখনো ইন্ট্রেপিড আইবেক্সে ব্যবহার করে সেটি।
তবে, মোডেমটি সরাসরি আমার ব্যবহার করা হয়নি। আরেকটি ব্যাপার সবাইকে বলতে শুনেছি
ব্লুটুথ উবুন্তুতে হবেই না... ইত্যাদি ইত্যাদি। কিন্তু ধীরে ধীরে সবই কিন্তু
মোটামুটি ব্যবহার করা যাচ্ছে।
মবিডাটা ব্যবহারের টেকনিকটি একেবারেই বেসিক wvdial কনফিগার করার পদ্ধতি। যেটির
কনফিগারেশন GnomePPP তেও ব্যবহার করা যায়  ইউজার হোম অর্থাৎ ‍~ ফোল্ডারে।
.wvdial.conf নামের ফাইলটি ব্যবহার হয়।
অনেকের কাজে লাগতে পারে তাই লিস্টে দিলাম।

একই রকম মনে হয় উবুন্তু আলটিমেট এডিশন। কিন্তু ওগুলো তো ওপেনসোর্সের মূলের সাথে
মেলে না। নীতি বিসর্জন দিয়ে কি করে প্রোপ্রাইটরি সফটওয়্যার দেবে ওরা?

হ্যাঁ তখন জন্টি'র জন্যই গ্রহণ করছিলো... আমি ইচ্ছা করে তাড়াতাড়ি হবার জন্য
একটির বেশি অর্ডার করিনি। :)

এখন বন্ধ কিনা দেখতে হবে। এর আগে ইন্ট্রেপিড আইবেক্স এর অর্ডার গত বছর ডিসকার্ড
করেছিল, কোনো কারণ না দেখিয়েই।

বুঝলুম জন্টি রোডস.. থুড়ি জন্টি জ্যাকালোপ বের হয়েছে.. তা আমরা রিলিজ উৎসব
করছি কবে? :)

আর ডার্কলর্ড ভাই তো জন্টি টেস্ট করেন নাই এখনো। রুট ইউজার হিসেবে Ext4 কেমন
কাজ করানো যায় একবার চেখে দেখবেন না?

আশাকরি... আগ্রহী হবার ব্যাপার নয়। শেয়ার করুন প্রয়োজনে আলাদা থ্রেডে। আমার
জানামতে অনেকেই উবুন্তুতে অভ্র মিস করে, আপনি যদি চালিয়ে থাকেন সেটি এই লিস্টের
অনেকেই জানতে চাইবে। কেননা, আমি যতদূর জানি অভ্রের ফোনেটিকটিতে অনেকে প্রভাতের
চেয়ে বেশি স্বাচ্ছন্দ্যবোধ করে। আমি ব্যক্তিগতভাবে নির্দিষ্ট লেআউটে লিখতে
পছন্দ করি। বাংলায়ই যদি লিখবো তাহলে  অ আ ক খ মনে না রেখে  ENGLISH er ন্যাজ
ধরে কেনো?  আ'কার দেবার জন্য কেনো বড় হাতের বিজাতীয় অক্ষর? ইংলিশে বাংলা ... সে

Google will be killing off its web site creation and hosting service, Google
Pages , in a few months. Users who have Google
Pages accounts will automatically have their data migrated to Google
Sitesunless they opt out. But while Google
Sites lets you put together quick and
easy web pages, it's more of a service for creating and sharing Wikis than a
full fledged web page creation service.

Here are a few things that Google Pages could do that Google Sites cannot:

   - Support CSS
   - Support JavaScript
   - Web hosting

Here again. Its to be mentioned that you are using Ubuntu under windows it
might not work properly. After installing you need to update the Ubuntu
distro as well.

Search in there with wvdial as the topic.

Usually you wont have to install driver.

you use this command in shell:

*sudo wvdialconf*
then edit the resulting configuratioin file using *sudo nano
/etc/wvdial.conf*
for the necessary settings to enable there.

After you set those.

Run :
*sudo wvdial*

and it should connect you to internet :)

Usually we have not reports saying Ubuntu failed to handle DVD/CD media
where windows succeeded.

Brother, I didn't show any excuse at all. I dont want to blame on anyone
even. Problem is there is dedication of some members. I know I'm not that
dedicated. But I have very optimistic views about this organization. If by
any means, this organization was and being raised to earn personal name and
fame etc. It will not last. If we bottom-liners talk like this this wont do
a fair thing to the organization. As, ST mentioned, the problem lies there,
some seniors must at least respond or initiate.
I would rather ask everyone, why at least not us communicate in every couple
of days possible. That could be over the twitter, IRC etc. I sometimes visit
the IRC I dont see anyone there.

Could we just forget everything? And promise from this thread to be active?

[Ubuntu-BD] Oracle on Ubuntu and its developing tools

I just tried this https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Oracle10g and
successfully setup Oracle 10g on my P4 3 Ghz desktop and HP 520 laptop. Now,
need to know if anyone worked on Oracle forms developer / reports in Ubuntu
platform.

Any suggestions? I am googling a lot and getting close results but not yet
there.

তবে লোগো প্রিন্ট এর জন্য
দামে কম হয় অথচ সুন্দর
সবার ক্রয় ক্ষমতার মধ্যে থাকবে এবং
ফ্যাশনেবল এসব সবদিকে নজর দিতে হবে।

উবুন্তু এর নিজস্ব মার্চেন্ডাইজগুলোতেও কলারওলা স্যাম্পল দেখা যায় না। তবে আমি
ব্যক্তিগতভাবে কলার পছন্দ করি।

You can also write such files yourself.  Just  type in your most used
commands and save it with a name.
then run the file after doing   chmod 0777 on the file

sudo chmod 0777 filename  <-- makes it executable
sudo ./filename

yes that can be one. And as tanjir said, it can be for many reasons.
You just have to start from basic ideas for troubleshooting such
errors. Just like replacing/inspecting hardware components one by one.
Ram, processor or motherboard mismatch could cause such errors. If the
error occurs to a particular machine only then you can be sure
something is not working right. And you just try to get the things in
fine condition to avoid it happen again.

This clearly sounds like a hardware error for you.
Making sure your hardware contacts are just as it has no loose contacts is
HUGEly important. And its the ideal situation after which others can base
on.

Now, if there's no hardware errors present but you see a 'Kernel Panic'
error:
1. First try to checkdisk from your BIOS or HDD's utility. Wihich helps to
rebuild/repair the damage done.
2. use diskcheck utilities to fix any lost clusters etc.
3. recovery from Live CD will help to rebuild kernel and other sections
again.

OT: darklord এর মাথা আজকাল একটু গরম গরম :) মাথা ঠাণ্ডা রাখলে অনেক সমস্যা সহজ
হয়ে যায়।

[Ubuntu-BD] X server corrupted

It solved!

Thanks to all who participated. I thanked Russell Bhai over phone just now.

The problem was as the sutdown button was depressed, it caused some
damages to the filesystem. And it failed with X Server at first. Was
failing fscheck inside linux also.
Then I tried with the BIOS's memcheck and HDD integrity check.

Then the recovery worked (before recovery was failing with fatal errors).

After this I was being able to see the login screen.

That means the /tmp was not writable, so it couldn't bring up the desktop.

its related to the GUI Desktop loader

i get this error directly:

if you could tell the address of  xorg.logs exact path would have been a
help. As I have this single machine now, cant experiment too long.
And your analysis sounds very close to me. Cuz I trid the 'try to recover
X-Server' that that enabled this login screen. Compiz or  Any loader that
brings in the Desktop is the reason behind this failure thats what I
believe.

I have other user accounts and I forgot their passwords(common scenerio :P)
 And I tried to login those dont authenticate.

Yes still using Gnome as didn't feel comfortable with KDE didn't have much
time for getting familiar with lots of features (ie. shortcut keystrokes and
many other handy things).

I tried to login with sessions like  :  default, gnome, kde, failsafe etc
 all of them  just  does the blank screen attempt to load the
xserver(desktop) then flicker and come back to  login screen.

with   df  command it showed usage  stats of  less than 26% at any
partitions.  /home was not shown there.

need an urgent solution as I am using IRDA on Nokia 6020 ( the cable dont
get the modem detected on windows) which is really slow like less than 1kB/s
to 3.5kB/s

Then what?
I guess I have enough space. While at recovery it removed 85 obsolete
packages from installatioins. Still no solution.

I brought my laptop to let the seller check if it has any problem. Without
doing any good they blessed me by shutting it off by pressing the shutdown
button to terminate it quickly.And this has just brought a hell for my
Ubuntu's X-server.
It wasn't even loading to gui at first.

Nothing was possible with  Recovery Mode.

then, I did fschek from the BIOS's default.

then tried the recovery mode .. now it sounded to have fixed a bit.

Now, I get my my login screen for GUI... but when I enter password and hit
enter... it blanks the screen tries to load the X-server(desktop) but with a
flicker it comes back to login screen.

Tried with all the options available for login sessions. result, same!

I tried to connect to net with my Nokia with  Live DVD of  Intrepid Ibex...
I made it possible to connect with  wvdial  but it fails to write  at
 something folders 'pppd'  And konquerer dont get net because of the
failure.

How do you fix a corrupted XServer with the Live CD?

I have really important works on Ubuntu drives, dont have a backup computer
to work, Dont feel comfortable to work on Windows anymore. And have piled up
works to accomplish...
so I need some urgent help from you guys.

In ubuntu or debian you'll almost never need to use root user. Usage of root
user is being deprecated.

the SUDO command does the actions as a SU or SUPER user  SU-DO = super user
do.

So, you do write commands like:

sudo apt-get install .. is just okay.

Do not use root user without knowing. For admin rights on FileManager you
can use like:

gksu nautilus

এখানে জুনেল রহমান একটি সমাধান দিয়েছেন ইন্ট্রেপিড আইবেক্স এ স্কাইপ(Skype) এর
বাগ এড়িয়ে চলার। তার সমাধান থেকেই আরো একটু ঘাটাঘাটি করে আমার সমাধানটি পেলাম।

আমি এইচপি ৫২০ ল্যাপটপ ব্যবহার করি। ইন্টারনাল মাইক নেই এতে।

সাউন্ড কনফিগারেশন থেকে সবগুলো(sound in, sound out, ringing) সাউন্ড ডিভাইস
pulse করে দিন।
এবং Volume Control Dialog টি ওপেন করে, Preferences থেকে

  Recording Ext Mic এবং
  Switches  Ext Mic চয়েস করে নিন।
দেখুন রেকর্ডিং লেভেল অন্তত শূণ্য যেনো করা না থাকে।


এ পদ্ধতিতে স্কাইপ অন করার আগে killall pulseaudio কমান্ডটি প্রয়োগ করে
পালসঅডিও অফ করার প্রয়োজন নেই বরং পালসঅডিওকেই ব্যবহার করা হচ্ছে।

আপনার মতো ইতিবাচক মনোভাবই আশা করছিলাম সবার কাছ থেকে। ছোট-খাট প্রকল্পের পক্ষে
সবাই। কিন্তু আমি আগেই বলেছি লোকালাইজেশন আর মেশিন ট্রান্সলেশন কিন্তু এক নয়।
আপনারাও তা জানেন। আমাদের এই গ্রুপেই অনেকে আছেন যারা এমন লোকালাইজেশন করেন এবং
করছেন। সুতরাং বিপক্ষে যুক্তি না দিয়ে আসু কী কী দুর্বলতা আছে, কী কী উপায়ে
সামনে আগানো সম্ভব চিন্তা করি। কাজ ভাগ ভাগ করে নেই সবাই, আরো সবাইকে উদ্বুদ্ধ
করি।

মাসুম ভাই যে পয়েন্টগুলো তুলেছেন এগুলো এবং আরো কি কি পয়েন্ট হতে পারে তা নিয়ে
আমরা আলোচনা শুরু করতে পারি।

গুগলকে প্রভাবিত করার জন্য একটি দ্বিভাষিক বিশাল শব্দভাণ্ডার সহ তাদের অবহিত
করতে হবে। কাজটি কঠিন নয়! আমার আগের মেইলে তার লিঙ্কগুলো দিয়েছি।

এখানে কতোগুলি বাংলা অভিধানের লিঙ্ক দিয়েছি সবাই মিলে এই অভিধানগুলো থেকে একটি
সমন্বিত শব্দভাণ্ডার তৈরি করতে পারি অনায়াসেই। *গুগলকে জানাতে হবে আমাদের বাংলা
শব্দের এই এই ইংরেজি প্রতিশব্দ সহ এই হলো লিস্ট এবার যোগ করো আমাদের ভাষা।*

প্রথমে অনেক ভুল হবে... সমস্যা কি? ভুল ছাড়া কিছুই নেই। যে সবচেয়ে কম ভুল করে
সে মহামানব। কিন্তু সবাই ভুল করে।

I am in fact joining the project of Anubadok by Golam Mortuza Hossain(
http://anubadok.sourceforge.net/index.htm). I am learning the technology.
And as a CSE student I should this out, what do you think? Not everyone came
in this world knowing everything.

And what I got in my little brain is:
1. Informing everyone who could contribute in this.
2. Reaching donors like ADB and UNDP to obtain funds for this.(Its huge so
needs lots of funding to settle it under one roof)
3. I feel all the past theses have to be taken into account. All the
research papers related to machine translator need to be gathered, listed
and indexed.
4. Need to call for more researches to obtain the clear path to accomplish
the task. Can be carried out by the different faculties in the Universities.
Students+Teachers of Bangla, Linguistics, Computer Science can help on these
research.
5. More thoughts can come from you...

For these sort of projects UNDP provides aids I guess.

Not everyone in these lists represent whole bangladesh/Bangalis. So, we must
reach everyone. And in doing so we shall find the best guys to work with.

আপনার কথায় যথেষ্ট যুক্তি আছে এবং তা বাস্তব হলেও, তার ব্যতিক্রম সৃষ্টির
প্রণোদনা, উদ্যম, প্রেষণার জন্য সপক্ষে যুক্তি উপস্থাপনেই আহবান জানাবো।

লিনাক্সের কাজটি ভলান্টিয়ারের কাজ বলা যায় মোটামুটি ভাবে। এ ব্যাপারে বোধহয়
আপনার বেশি জানা আছে কারণ আপনি অনেক কিছুর সাথে সম্পৃক্ত আছেন পরোক্ষভাবে হলেও।
সম্পৃক্ত না হলেও যারা সম্পৃক্ত এমন লোকদের সংসর্গ পেয়েছেন। ফেসবুক'এর জন্য আমি
কাজ করছি, মানে স্বত-প্রণোদিতভাবে অনেক অনুবাদ এবং ভোটিং করেছি। ওখানে কমপক্ষে
৩৮০ জন এভাবে করছে। আমার স্ট্যান্ডিং ৯ম।

এগুলোর কোনোটির সাথেই মেশিন অনুবাদের তুলনা চলে না। কারণ অন্যান্য অনুবাদ হলো
নির্দিষ্ট বাক্যমালা বা শব্দমালার উপযুক্ত ও গ্রহণীয় অনুবাদ।

কাজটি কঠিন কিন্তু শুরু করতে হবে। কতোটা কঠিন তার গবেষণা করতে হবে। কী কী করতে
হবে তারও গবেষণা করতে হবে।
ভাগে ভাগে কাজ করবে বিভিন্ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে অধ্যয়নরত ছাত্র-ছাত্রী সকল শিক্ষকগণ
এর তদারকী করবেন। শুরু হলেই এর চালিয়ে নেয়ার জন্য কী করা দরকার তা বের হবে।

Thats what my point is. There's no reason to be afraid thinking that
Automatic/Machine translation gonna be real hard job to accomplish. And
there's no saying Bangali people are worthless. And this is one of the main
tasks Bangali people should do.

Yes you may go like, "WHAT IS EVERYBODY'S TASK IS NOBODY'S TASK". We just
need a plan. Bangali nation maybe a little slow learner. But everyone
learns.

Bangla being the most honored languages being the only language to have
martyrs. 21st February being regarded as the International Mothertongue Day
are enough reasons to plead for this task to start this work as immediately
as possible. There can be no reason saying its too early to start! What we
lack? point them together!
What are our plus points? point them together!

Be positive and contribute your positive thoughts related to this to
everywhere and encourage, motivate all sorts of people for this. This wont
require 150 million Bangladeshi to accomplish the task. Take examples of
other successful such works. Do comparative study. Its a doable task!

And localization is nothing like machine translation at all.
Localization/Internationalization is allotting the proper phrases for preset
phrases in English or other starter languages. And machine translation is
not a final task as well. If you use Google Translate you'll see that they
take your opinion on every translation made by the engine.

শাবাব ভাই, আপনার যুক্তি কিন্তু হাস্যকর।

আমি বাংলা ভাষার অনুবাদের প্রয়োজনীয়তার কথা বলেছি। হিন্দী ভাষার অনুবাদ হয়েছে।
কোনো কাজ শুরু হবার পর তা আলফা, বেটা, ফাইনাল এমন পর্যায় অতিক্রম করে আসে।
ছোটোখাটো কাজ যে হচ্ছেনা তা তো নয়। লিনাক্স, উইন্ডোজ, পিএইচপিবিবি, পানবিবি,
ফেসবুক এরকম অসংখ্য ব্যাপারের লোকালাইজেশনের কাজ হয়েছে এবং হচ্ছে।

এগুলো প্রত্যেকটি করতে গিয়েই সবাই যে সীমাবদ্ধতায় আটকায় তা হচ্ছে বাংলা অনুবাদক
না থাকা। বাংলা পৃথিবীর কঠিনতম ভাষা নয়। চাইনিজ/জাপানীজ ভাষায় ৫০,০০০ এর বেশি
অক্ষর বিদ্যমাণ আর তাদের ভাষার সহজ সংস্করণের অনুবাদকের কাজ সম্পন্ন হয়েছে বেটা
পর্যায়ে। তারা সর্বস্তরে নিজেদের ভাষা ব্যবহার করে। আপনি যেকোনো শহুরে হোটেলে
গিয়ে কোন প্রয়োজন জানালে তা একজন ডেস্ক অফিসার কম্পিউটারাইজড অনুবাদক দিয়ে তার
মানে বের করে নেবে।

আর এতো হাহাকারের কোনো মানে দেখছি না! দেশে বাংলাভাষা নিয়ে কাজ হচ্ছে না তা
কিন্তু নয়। আপনার না জানা থাকতে পারে কিন্তু বাংলা ওসিআর, বাংলা ভয়েস
সিনথেসাইজার(লেখা থেকে শব্দ উৎপাদক), বাংলা অনুবাদ ইত্যাদি নানান বিষয়ে বিস্তর
গবেষণা হয়েছে গত ২৫ বছর ধরে। এগুলোর মান অনেক ক্ষেত্রেই অনেক উন্নত মানের।

আপনার কথায় মনে হচ্ছে সর্বস্তরের বাঙালি এতো বৃহদায়তন প্রজেক্ট শুরু করার মতো

তাহলে আলু পরাটা খেয়ে বাংলা অনুবাদের উপায় শেখার প্রশিক্ষণ নিতে পারে সবাই।
