I've pasted some of the diag's below to see if anything jumps out. I'll try and give the info that might make a diagnosis possible. Please let me know if I need to post more info, as the diags and logs are really good and easy. I've got a rpi2 , Hifiberry AMP2+, and the 7" screen. I can see the player from LMS. Connected wirelessly. When booted it comes to the HOME screen, My music shows default message. Choose player is empty. I have the LMS ip set within the web page or it won't find it. Yep using Foundation screen, using it wireless, not tried it with ethernet as I haven't got a port in the kitchen, but I think I'll plug a cable in and se if that makes a difference. I can use the screen to set the default screen, but when trying to find player or my music library nothing show up. Really weird. I've always entered the LMS ip, I run standard port for LMS as I have a Logitech boom box that doesn't like it if the standard port is not used. As I mentioned I do run LMS via docker, but all my other players connect fine to LMS, so did this one until I tried the screen :( I'll keep plugging away, again cheers. trythat's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66537 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103330 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Hi Paul. That worked like a charm. Do I need to do anything else since this will always be off the Internet in use? Thanks Greg, Squeezelite is running. I get all the different screensaver views except for any of the VUs or Visualizer. Hook it back up to the Internet and they all work. The only limitation I know of is the "VU meters" only work on pCP that has squeezelite running, which sort of make sense as the meters need to tap into the output of ALSA to work out the volume of the stream. I've noticed that the VU Meters do not work when there's no Internet connection. I use my pi in my car and cannot get the VU meters to display. They will however when I bring it in and connect it to the internet. Is there any work around I could try? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite for piCorePlayer
If you are using the Raspberry Pi Foundation's 7" screen there should be no special setup to do. Is there something on the screen? You only need to set the LMS IP if you have more than one LMS server on your network or you have changed the standard port. Paul, is talking about setting up jivelite via wifi then changing to wired ethernet or visa versa. If you change the ethernet interface you have to removed jivelite settings and do it again. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite for piCorePlayer
OK, did a fresh install and still can't find either music library or find player when installing jivelite. I can get to the settings, from the browser, so not sure what else to try. i see you mentioned networks before, so what exactly are you suggesting, my pi gets an ip from pfsense, so the ip is always the same. I've entered the server ip in the settings as well, so i don't know what else to try. trythat's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66537 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103330 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Still not working, I'm running LMS server through docker, but the player with the Hiberry dac worked fine before I added the official screen and installed jivelite. I have reset and removed jivelite a few times and still can't get it to find either the player or music. I've taken an image of it before i messaged around with it, I'm running 6.1. I might just start from scratch and see if that works. It's really weird though, just had a though do I need to do any more than add the ip address of my server ? Different for me, the main player is in the living room, next to the kitchen. Sometimes I'm cooking and want to change the music, and then the player is closer by. I'm trying out JIveLite for a while now, but still tend to lean towards LMS/Material for the Touch Screen. Mainly to see in one glance which players are turned on and tuned in, but I also miss the grid view browsing albums (the JIveLite covers are quite tiny). > I also don't see the point in controlling from a central server/touch > screen, players that me be 3 or 4 rooms away or on another floor! I always keep all players linked: most of the times the doors are open so I want to play the same in all rooms (and then perfect sync is crucial!). Couldn't there at least maybe be an option in the context menu like in Material Skin where checkboxes appear, you choose the tracks you want to delete from the current playlist and then press ok? I'm sure it could be done somehow. It's software after all. Anything can be done. But I don't know who's going to tackle this challenge. Is it possible to display/use a website (e.g. Wikipedia) from within PCP? If it is possible within Lua could you point me to any code examples? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Nope again. Back in the days the guys from Opera paid us a visit to discuss a potential integration. But we never did it. Does that include internal "websites" delivered by plugins like Material Skin? Or could you display them in Jivelite? With some trick? :) There's no HTML rendering code in Jivelite. I followed this link ( https://www.thefanclub.co.za/how-to/how-setup-picoreplayer-jivelite-use-waveshare-55-amoled-touchscreen ) to get the low resolution VU meters running and to create a Skin that fits the 5.5 inch Waveshare display. However I did the calibration and I also tested the calibration in Command line and the touch function works. I noticed that the calibration and test is done under the full scale display size and not the smaller re-sized Skin. Is that correct or do I need to modify my calibration command in order to calibrate on the Skin size ?? After the calibration at full size and saving and bootin the touch function doesnt hit the correct field, it take many trials to hit a button you want. No error msg. And also the created lower res. skin is selected. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite for piCorePlayer
First post, apologies if I'm totally ignorant or in the wrong thread. I'm running pCP + Jivelite on a RPi 3B+ with a touchscreen. Great stuff! I have a few pCP players setup in my house, so I would like to be able to control volume and zones as easily as possible. The only way to, for example, lower player volume, (that I have found at least) is to go back to the main menu, select player, click the note in the upper right corner and the lower the volume. Also, there is no way to lower the overall volume of all zones. This feels a bit clunky. I have been looking for youtube videos of people using the interface, and as far as I could tell, on the Android version of the Squeezebox software, it is possible to click the "now playing" bar (which I think read [name of player] instead) to get to the select player menu. Or maybe the Android version had an extra bar in addition to the now playing bar, I'm not sure. Is there any way to customize the skin or Jivelite itself to make volume and zoning more easily accesible? Or am I just clicking the wrong places? :) Any help much appreciated! Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite for piCorePlayer
Hello, I have a pCP with Jivelite and Joggler skin running on a 5'' screen. The main control interface is based on buttons and rotary encoders. It works pretty well but I would like to improve the usability a bit. When a radio station is selected or the device is not touched for some seconds the "Now playing" windows gets activate, as expected. However, when I want to select another station or return to the Jivelite menu window I have to push the back/left button first to exit from Now playing and to activate the menu. On the active menu I can navigate by up/down controls as usual. The up/down commands have no effect on the Now playing window now. I would like Jivelite automatically exit from Now playing screen also when up/down command is received. The need of an extra command to exit from the Now playing screen is not comfortable IMO. Furthermore, the internetradio devices I know works on the same way I propose. Technically it could be implemented by mapping up/down key events to back/left/escape event when the Now Playing windows is the active one. I am not sure if it has to be modified in the Joggler skin or in Jivelite. sakos's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70470 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103330 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

I would also like to tweak that a little bit to show my classical music tags in a better way. Could anyone help me to understand which properties (tags) can be read here instead: (NowPlayingApplet.lua, line 1976): Code: function _extractTrackInfo(self, _track) if _track.track then local returnTable = {} table.insert(returnTable, _track.track) table.insert(returnTable, _track.artist) table.insert(returnTable, _track.album) return returnTable else return _track.text or "\n\n\n" end end I would love to read composer and conductor tag here. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite for piCorePlayer
Good question WadDad. Interestingly enough, I used to have about 8 different backgrounds I put in Customize Device. Over the years, I guess, they disappeared, but they still remain on the players. My guess is that if you try to install a wallpaper on a player where it won't 'fit' it either won't be in the selections or it won't install. Part of the voodoo the guys do so well. I'm new to piCorePlayer and very curious which makes for a lot of questions. Very sorry about that but I hope you can help me at least with some: #1# I quite like the *default NowPlaying screen*. And on a Pi3 with the Raspi 7'' Touchscreen I find it more useful than any CustomClock screensaver. There are only 2 tiny changes I'd like to make: - add *rating stars* (the value for TRACKSTATRATINGNUMBER is being broadcast by CustomClockhelper and already shows up in the normal context menu - without any CustomClock screensaver being used. - if that works I could also have it look for other variables that I made CustomClockHelper broadcast, maybe some kind of icon that shows if a track is favorite/loved. I've looked at the NowPlayingApplet.lua file but anthing I've tried failed. I can't even get it to show the TRACKSTATRATINGNUMBER even though LMS sees and uses it. Do you maybe have any ideas where/how I should look/start? #2# Is it still ok to just unplug a piCorePlayer device? I'm just asking because there's a submenu item to power down pCP. Since I can't add item from the Settings > pCP-Menu to the home menu (only the entire menu group) what's the correct string to add it manually in -CustomizeHomeMenu.lua-? I've tried -piCorePlayerApplet_MENU_SHUTDOWN- but it didn't work. #3# I'd like to get rid of any console text output messages when I boot my pCP device. I've already reduced them to a minimum using cmdline.txt codes but I still get the pCP ASCII logo and the console prompt for couple of seconds before the pCP splashscreen kicks in. Is there any way to call the pCP splashscreen earlier to hide the console prompt and the pCP ASCII logo? #4# If I copy an applet from /tmp/tcloop/pcp-jivelite/opt/jivelite/share/jive/applets/ to /home/tc/.jivelite/userpath/applets/, will it always/reliably be used instead of the original readonly applet? Or do I need to modify anything else? #5# Do you leave SSH enabled in your LAN? Thank you so much for your help. AFAICT the ScreenSaver applet changes also works with the "have a touchscreen you need to enable Enable Power Button when Off for the remote to work correctly" case, therefore I've applied the change and activated the "Enable Power Button when Off" option by default. HDMI screen and remote users, you will need to clear the check box in the piCorePlayer settings so the power button turns the screen back on but should just work for rpi 7" touchscreen users. The pcp-jivelite extension in the repository now includes the changes. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite for piCorePlayer
HI Greg, I figured it worked through Jivelite. I don't think this remote works through IR though. It's got a dongle and works like an MS keyboard. I have Jivelite running on both RPI's and only the one with the screen has any remote functionality. I also made sure it wasn't picking up a IR signal from the remote. The phone would work great except Android checks to see if there is WiFi internet connection and if not, it drops the WiFi signal. I would love to get some sort of remote working in the car that doesn't depend on a touch screen or IR. Thanks. Thanks Peter. That's what I have on my player downstairs and it works great. However it uses infrared and the one in my car isn't really in a spot where an infrared remote can hit it. Also, not that it matters, but I really don't understand why the one with the 7" screen will work somewhat and the other will not. Pretty much the exact same set up. Without doing anything several of the buttons worked. Play and forward, vol up and down, power, home, return. I then tried it on a RPI3B with the same software, but a Boss DAC and no screen. The remote did nothing. I admit I know nothing about how any of this works, but it seems odd that one works half way and the other does nothing. The long and short of it is I'm trying to get some sort of basic remote to work on the RPI3B for in my car and don't know where to even start. If anyone has gotten one of these remotes to work I would greatly appreciate some info. If anyone can point me in a direction to get me started, I would also appreciate that. Here's how to use winSCP with root access. Code: Click [New Session] tab Select Site Click [Edit] Click [Advanced Site Settings] Select Environment > SCP/Shell Edit Shell: sudo -s Click [OK] Click [Save] Click [Login] There is no root password. You log in as tc and: use sudo before each command, or $ sudo -s to get s shell as root, or $ sudo chown tc:staff ~/.jivelite Greg Erskine's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7403 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103330 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite for piCorePlayer
I wanted to use WinSCP to create a directory and transfer files to pCP into the /home/tc/.jivelite directory (well, actually a directory deeper down) but I can't because of permissions. I connect using the 'tc' user account and its password. The .jivelite directory has root as its owner. Can I change it to tc without any issues? Is root supposed to be the default owner of /home/tc/.jivelite? Or if I had the root password I could connect using that account, but I'm assuming that the password is not publicly documented. I didn't find it. prabbit's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11142 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103330 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite for piCorePlayer
Still curious about why Jivelite uses Custom Clock v1 instead of v2 (which was released in 2010). I have downloaded the latest version from https://github.com/erland/squeezebox-customclock. I tried copying files to /home/tc/.jivelite/userpath/applets/CustomClock (taking a recent hint from ralphy to me about the NowPlaying screen), but that resulted in Custom Clock not working at all. Saving a backup and rebooting had no effect. One of the things I'm looking to add to my screensaver is ratingicon, which is a Custom Clock 2.x feature. (Since ratingicon has url attributes for images, my next question may be about how to get those images into pCP...unless pulling image files from some location would be better.) What is the proper way to update the Custom Clock applet on pCP 6.0.0 to the latest version? prabbit's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11142 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103330 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

I normally use iPeng to control it, I just like to see album art or meters, and clock screen saver when there's no music. (I can probably get the latter to happen). I had a very similar problem earlier, but that was when there was a router between S and C, and I abandoned that configuration very soon. It did become clear that these pieces of software were developed independently, and that Jivelite's networking wasn't integrated into the Squeezelite code. tastewar's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32399 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103330 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite for piCorePlayer
Hi Ralphy, I've finished evaluating your mod for the "When off not being detected" problem. Sorry to take so long, I thought I found an inconsistency due to having one pCP with Touchscreen and one with HDMI out as they behave differently before and after the mod ! Here are my results, first two are 6.0.0 Standard with and without Touchscreen the second two are pCP 6.0.0 Audio with and without touchscreen but they behave exactly as 6.0.0 so can be ignored I believe. Basically it seems if you have a touchscreen you need to enable "Enable Power Button when Off" for the remote to work correctly. If you have HDMI you need to enable the "Enable Power Button when Off" AND perform the mod to get SS's to work correctly. Sorry if this is mixing two issues but as I said I have one of each system ! pCP 6.0.0 on Rpi2 with Touchscreen Code: Resize whole card "Beta Functions" NTP Server (My network disallows NTP outbound) Install JL Install IR Key Tables (Default SB3) Setup JL Time/Date display SS's NP = NP Stopped = Digital Clock (Black) When Off = Word Clock Setup GPIO 13 (To monitor On/Off) Save to SD All SS work as they should Play/Stopped/Off Power Button on Remote toggle fails Perform Mod Quit/Restart JL No Change in behaviour (Power Button on Remote still only briefly powers on JL) pcp br No Change in behaviour (Power Button on Remote still only briefly powers on JL) Changed "Enable Power Button when Off" to ON Everything behaves correctly now Save to SD Hard powered down Everything behaves correctly on reboot pCP 6.0.0 on Rpi2 with HDMI TV Code: Disconnected RPi TS ribbon cable Resize whole card "Beta Functions" NTP Server (My network disallows NTP outbound) Install JL Install IR Key Tables (Default SB3) Setup JL Time/Date display SS's NP = NP Stopped = Digital Clock (Black) When Off = Word Clock Only Play/Stopped SS work as they should, Off is NOT detected Power Button on Remote power toggle WORKS correctly Perform "Mods" Quit/Restart JL All SS work as they should Play/Stopped/Off now POWER BUTTON ON REMOTE NOW ONLY BRIEFLY POWERS ON JL pcp br No Change in behaviour (Power Button on Remote still only briefly powers on JL) Changed "Enable Power Button when Off" to ON (Even though No touchscreen attached) Everything behaves correctly now Save to SD Hard powered down Everything behaves correctly on reboot pCP 6.0.0 AUDIO on Rpi2 with Touchscreen Code: Resize whole card "Beta Functions" NTP Server (My network disallows NTP outbound) Install JL Install IR Key Tables (Default SB3) Setup JL Time/Date display SS's NP = NP Stopped = Digital Clock (Black) When Off = Word Clock Setup GPIO 13 (To monitor On/Off) Save to SD All SS work as they should Play/Stopped/Off Power Button on Remote toggle fails Perform Mods Quit/Restart JL No Change in behaviour (Power Button on Remote still only briefly powers on JL) pcp br No Change in behaviour (Power Button on Remote still only briefly powers on JL) Changed "Enable Power Button when Off" to ON Everything behaves correctly now Save to SD Hard powered down Everything behaves correctly on reboot pCP 6.0.0 AUDIO on Rpi2 with HDMI TV Code: Disconnected RPi TS ribbon cable Resize whole card "Beta Functions" NTP Server (My network disallows NTP outbound) Install JL Install IR Key Tables (Default SB3) Setup JL Time/Date display SS's NP = NP Stopped = Digital Clock (Black) When Off = Word Clock Only Play/Stopped SS work as they should, Off is NOT detected Power Button on Remote power toggle WORKS correctly Perform "Mods" Quit/Restart JL All SS work as they should Play/Stopped/Off now POWER BUTTON ON REMOTE NOW ONLY BRIEFLY POWERS ON JL pcp br No Change in behaviour (Power Button on Remote still only briefly powers on JL) Changed "Enable Power Button when Off" to ON (Even though No touchscreen attached) Everything behaves correctly now Save to SD Hard powered down Everything behaves correctly on reboot Mod Code: cd /home/tc/.jivelite/userpath/applets/ sudo wget http://ralph-irving.users.sourceforge.net/pico/ScreenSavers.tar.gz sudo tar xzf ScreenSavers.tar.gz sudo rm ScreenSavers.tar.gz Hope this helps ! Has been working fine for quite some time, but now, Jivelite apparently no longer sees the LMS server, but Squeezelite does and vice-versa. Confession: A few days ago, I did make some changes to my network. C used to be plugged into an Apple TimeCapsule with built-in ethernet switch. I swapped this out for a small Ubiquiti switch, which allows per-port VLAN configuration. The port that C is plugged into, however, has no restrictions on it. C and S are on the same VLAN, same subnet, etc. IP connectivity is fine. Name resolution works just fine, though I don't think that matters. I have since updated all the software on C and the version of LMS on S. I have removed and re-added Jivelite. Still nothing. So I am suspicious that something is not working as expected network-wise, but I don't know what. There is no routing involved, and as I said, IP connectivity is straightforward and works fine as far as I can tell. I just don't know what to look at next. Can someone describe how Jivelite discovers LMS and what I need to check on to see what's working/failing? tastewar's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32399 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103330 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Thanks, ralphy. I had been able to find that. I dug through it and I don't think it's what I'm looking for, although it is what I asked for. The tweak I would like to make is increase the font size of the artist and song title of the NowPlaying screen. I'm not seeing anything in the NowPlaying lua files that would allow that. Is the font size(s) set elsewhere? Where? prabbit's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11142 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103330 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

The code is currently limiting the feature to only the rpi 7" and pirate audio boards, so as I test I've relaxed that restriction. Before I update the jivelite extension could you both try the following. Login to pcp using ssh as the tc user. Code: tc@rpi37-wls:~$ *cd /home/tc/.jivelite/userpath/applets/* tc@rpi37-wls:~/.jivelite/userpath/applets$ *sudo wget http://ralph-irving.users.sourceforge.net/pico/ScreenSavers.tar.gz* tc@rpi37-wls:~/.jivelite/userpath/applets$ *sudo tar xzf ScreenSavers.tar.gz * tc@rpi37-wls:~/.jivelite/userpath/applets$ *sudo rm ScreenSavers.tar.gz* >From jivelite select the Quit menu item and when jivelite restarts, try it out. If you want to keep the test version across reboots, backup the pcp config. Please remember to delete the ScreenSaver folder and backup the config, once I've released an updated jivelite extension, or this test version will override all future updates to the screensaver applet supplied with the jivelite extension. It's located in /tmp/tcloop/pcp-jivelite/opt/jivelite/share/jive/applets/NowPlaying but you can't modify it there. You have to copy the folder to /home/tc/.jivelite/userpath/applets/NowPlaying, make changes and ensure you backup the pcp configuration before a reboot or all the changes will be lost. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite for piCorePlayer
I like the default Now Playing Screensaver, but I would like a couple of tweaks. Where is it located? I imagine it's possible to use that file as the basis of the Custom Clock Helper screensaver I would to make. Searching the LMS repo, on my LMS server, the Jivelite repos, and this forum didn't result in me finding any posts that gave the file name. At least nothing that jumped out at me as the obvious one. prabbit's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11142 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103330 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Hi Greg, The creator was user ronaldmcdonald. The thread was Linux/Unix Jivelite for picoreplayer on 10/15/2019. I wrote to him about installing it, but never heard back from him. The file is on reply #1044 Thanks, Howard Greg Erskine wrote: > Where did BLUE_GLOW_VU meter .tcz come from? > > Who is the author? > > It shouldn't be a problem given the authors OK. Where did BLUE_GLOW_VU meter .tcz come from? Who is the author? It shouldn't be a problem given the authors OK. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite for piCorePlayer
Would it be possible to have the BLUE_GLOW_VU meter .tcz file be one of the downloads in Jivelite? I have it in there now, but I think others might like it and it will save those who do from having to load it manually when changes are made. My CustomClock applet is still at 1.01.004 but I can now add screens. I'm not sure what I changed to make it work, but I can move forward. And your tip about saving changes is a good one. Since I'm new to the pCP/Jivelite platform I'll take that to heart.
