I have a problem with wlan on Pi4/4GB when running beta 6.0.7. I am making the configuration, saving it, than the wlan connection is established, i can see, that pi received the ip for wlan, than shutdown, i am removing the network cable and ... when booting the wlan connection is not established, i have to connect the network cable. I am using the original pi ps, pi is only player with digi+pro, i have another wired pi4 as a server. One observation - normal kernel with hifiberry dac + pro or digi + pro sounds for my ears better, than the audio kernel, but when i am using pi with one usb dac, than the rt kernel sounds much better. We support the hifiberry ADC products. This one might take a little work. Is there any chance of supporting this device in pCp 6. Just exploring streaming high quality analog audio say FM Tuner, CD Player, Record Deck etc etc The streaming seems to be an available feature on the Tweaks page - but the support for this device isn't there. I encountered various issues like this (see 'here' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?110496-How-can-I-maintain-a-compressed-copy-of-my-music-folder=939901=1#post939901)). Possible issues included different timezone interpretations and different timestamp precisions. The latter is important because although the timestamps may have been updated to match, the differing precision on the two disks means that they are not exactly the same. I don't recall for certain - does FAT have a precision of 2 seconds maybe? So 'identical' timestamps may appear to be up to 1 second different. The solution with rsync was to relax the time comparison to an accuracy of 1 second. Is this an option in CCC? Does CCC keep a log of the reasons for each file being updated? chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110727 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Yes, you can share the disk using samba on the RPi. But again I've never had much luck with samba shares on any of my Macs - something to do with the SMB version? Try it - you might have better luck than me. I don't believe that FileZilla supports synchronisation, but the Mac has rsync that can work with network disks, and I'm sure there are other tools for syncing over the network. It'll be a lot slower than over USB3, so perhaps do an initial rsync over USB. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110727 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

FileZilla (on the Mac) allows me to copy files to my music disk over the network, with a fully intuitive graphical interface, without ever having to disconnect the disk from the RPi. Despite the Mac doing most things very well, I was never able to get disk sharing and screen sharing to work well enough when I had LMS on a Mac Mini. I run a samsung T5 500gb ssd attached directly to my pi4, Formatted ext4. Works every-time. I've not done a throughput test, but this is my build computer, and it handles compiling jobs just fine. Trim support is not real good on this drive. But yes M.2 drives (Or rather the enclosures) are very problematic on the RPI boards. Let it try to startup and get through the delays of it trying to mount, and then look in dmesg. There may be some clues in there. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
I still have problems with starting up piCorePlayer. I have attached a USB 3 enclosure for a M.2 SSD on a Pi 4. This is partitioned with MBR and inside is an ExFAT filesystem (hfs+ is also not working). At startup piCorePlayer is waiting at USB mount forever. If I start without the SSD piCorePlayer is comming up, but LMS is not running (that is OK). When I attach the SSD, it will be mounted (shown on the piCorePlayer webpage for LMS), but if I make a "ls -al /mnt/Musikbox" the shell shows nothing and is not comming back to the prompt. Before it was running for a few days without a problem, but yesterday I did a shutdown of the Pi and attached the SSD to my Mac to sync the music with my iTunes library. I think 30 files were newly copied to the SSD. Then I attached the SSD to the Pi and started it up again. I tried to use a GPT partitioned SSD also with hfs+ or ExFAT, but that didn't change anything. Im using audiophile versions at the moment but would consider making a remote box for my car or when i "DJ" at remote locations using either build. kbeast's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4761 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110727 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
Hello! Today I installed my Pi 3B+ with the new 6.0.0b8 from ground up as I no longer use LMS on this Pi. Everything is working fine! Only my Bluetooth headphone is not working as expected. I switched on Bluetooth of the Pi, activated Bluetooth daemons and paired the headphone. It was on the list and the headphone showed me that it is paired and connected. Then I did a backup and restarted the Pi. The headphone is not connected automatically as in the previous installation. The list of paired devices is simply empty. I did this five times and nothing is changed. Also I looked into Players directly after pairing, but there is no extra player with the name of the headphone shown. But when I switch off my headphones directly after pairing and switch them on again, they are connected again. The free space in the filesystem is 100MB, so there should be no problems in saving the pairing information. What can be the problem? carsten_h's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69113 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110727 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
Hello All, I am trying to investigate what's wrong with this Raspberry 3: PiCorePlayer v6.0.0-b5 | linux 4.19.75-pcpCore_v7 | piCore v10.2pCP | Squeezelite v1.9.6-1198-pCP The system has one USB BT dongle (BT on board disconnected), with two identical BT speakers connected. One acts as alarm clock, and the other is in the shower. While at the beginning I was able to play the two speakers in sync, more or less without hiccups, now I have to turn off one player (speaker) in order to be able to listen with the other without interruptions. If I do so, the player goes on steady. I also found the player frozen a couple of times... but without log files, it's not easy to understand what's happening. Any idea about how can I troubleshoot these problems? thanks for your time, -Gian Madamina, il catalogo è questo... town: Musical Fidelity Dr.Thomas, Preamp II, Infinity 7K, Squeezebox Classic (2), 2 Squeezelite bt on Raspi, Raspberry Pi 2 with HiFiBerry, Ubuntu 18.4 LTS server country: Musical Fidelity A-5, Infinity Renaissance 90, Musical Fidelity A120, Sonus Faber Concertino, Squeezebox Classic, SB Touch, Raspberry Pi 2 with HiFiBerry, Raspberry Pi Zero-w bt, Raspberry Pi 3 server with Debian Jessie on Arm7 gian's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6702 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110727 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

No communicatioon at all. I put in the output setting: iec958:CARD=M20,DEV=0 . I restarted both units several times. No cmmunication. Then I chosed a USB 3 port on the Pi4 and voilà. It works now. To sum it up. The output setting ( iec958:CARD=M20,DEV=0 ) is valid. But it still was a challange to get the communication to start. I have no patent solution but don't give up. I got it to work with older PiCorPlayer software 3.5.0 on a 3B-pi with output setting: [ iec958:CARD=M20,DEV=0 ]. I haven't got it to work with pi 3B+ (5.0.1) or on pi 4B+ (6.0.0-b7) I am using Beta mode on all. Is there a known, working output setting in the newer software releases, or do You have plans to add these. Finally a million thanks for Your hard work with this excellent player. /Jan JaMo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56386 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110727 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

I'm pretty sure we violated KISS a long time ago with pCP. lol But yes, pCP is designed to be lightweight. The RPi hardware itself is really not flexible for mass storage. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. words!). The most cost- effective way to do this, whilst maintaining maximum flexibility, would be to use Logical Volume Management. I use I believe pCP and "maximum flexibility" don't go together. If you want maximum flexibility, then use something else. -- Michael ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

ChipMonk wrote: > Any help or pointers would be most welcome. Hi Chip I loaded the piCorePlayer web interface and on the MAIN page I checked EXTENSIONS. I then changed from the Information tab to the tab named Available. Here you can see what packages are available. The package for LVM is not available in the piCorePlayer repository, nor did I find it in the piCore repo. Therefore my best tip is to check the tinyCore forum, but be warned this probably requires some Linux knowledge to incorporate. Today I tried my GPT partitioned drive with a hfs+ filesystem and it was mounted instantly and also reading the musicfiles ist really fast. I don't know why it didn't worked a few days ago, I changed nothing in the configuration, it was only switched of a longer time. Very strange! But it is great that GPT partitionformat works again! carsten_h's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69113 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110727 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
Whilst commissioning my recent RasPi4 pCP v6 setup, I realised that I need to increase my HDD capacity to make it future proof (famous last words!). The most cost- effective way to do this, whilst maintaining maximum flexibility, would be to use Logical Volume Management. I use Stablebit Drivepool on Win10 systems with very satisfactory results but I have no experience of LVM on Linux. Can LVM be used in the pCP ecosystem with USB attached HDDs? Does anyone have any experience or tips on its implementation and use? Any help or pointers would be most welcome. Yes you can, we can probably run the scripts(Daemon) that they use. You just can use the installation script. Can you start a new thread with all the detail you previously posted. Never could have worked that out myself! Thanks Paul, seems that's exactly how it's done. But I think I will have to move my LMS to the Raspberry to get it really usable. The way my system is set up, it doesn't work well enough. LMS is on a NAS on the 2nd floor, living room with piCorePlayer is on the 1st floor. The stream has to squeeze via BT from my phone to piCorePlayer, via WLAN to the LMS and then back to the player.. This leads to a massive lag, and volume control is a nightmare. But at least now I know how to make it work. Thanks a lot!
