Re: OT: Apple beta mailing list

2020-05-09 Thread KliphnShari Miller
I have been running a list for beta testers for almost 2 years, and have never
had any issues. As long as you are not discussing beta features with non beta
users, you are good. Info is below
Are you testing an apple beta? want to discuss bugs with other testers? Then
come join a friendly, helpful, laid back community where we can squash these
bugs together, and report them to apple. Subscribe here
public-beta-users+subscr...@groups.io
Because of the non disclosure agreement, I have to say if your not a beta
tester, please don’t join the group.

Another way to jump from different items, is to use the rotter option to use

Re: Disney Plus accessibility and described movies

2019-11-13 Thread KliphnShari Miller
Not sure about the audio described, but I know it has all the older stuff from
1930’s and beyond. Rocky and bowinkle, lady and the tramp, even the old Micky
mouse stuff. As for buffering on the appleTV, I have had no issues with it and
I signed up right at 2:00AM when it was ready.

Re: good and bad news about itunes and getting new ring tones on my iPhone 8, please help if possible

2019-11-01 Thread KliphnShari Miller
You can delete sounds in the settings screen. On your IOS device go to
settings, sounds, and select a category like ring tone, text alerts, or mail.
Once you do that it will put you in your list of sounds, swipe up or down on
the tone you want to delete, and it will delete that sound.

Re: Creating A Brand New Email iCloud account Question Please.

2019-06-26 Thread KliphnShari Miller
It’s personal preference. They both can setup mail sorting rules, they are
both accessible threw apple mail, gmail’s website is accessible on both Mac and
PC, although windows 10 just got an update that may work better, I don’t know
cause I use my iPadPro for everything. The only other difference I think is
with iCloud you can create 3 additional email addresses called alias’s. Other
than that they are pretty even. JMO

2019-06-25 Thread KliphnShari Miller
I know how you feel. Up until IOS12.31 my ring tones would not sync at all. I
ended up doing a clean install, and just putting apps the way I like them, and
that seemed to do the trick. I now have over 1000 alerts and tones on my
phone, but that doesn’t even scratch the surface of how many I have. Last I
checked it was over 6000, a great friend who I exchange media with gave me most
of them. Good luck though.

Compared: Brydge Pro vs Logitech Slim Folio Pro

2019-06-23 Thread KliphnShari Miller
Third-party keyboards are really popular for the 2018 iPad Pros, and one of the
best selling keyboards are the Brydge Pro and Logitech Slim Folio Pro. Both of
these keyboards are available for the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Let's
compare and see which one is best for what type of user.

Side by side: Logitech Slim Folio Pro (left), Brydge Pro (right)
Brydge Pro is not a case, but an external keyboard

The Brydge Pro Keyboard is not a keyboard case like the Slim Folio Pro, it's an
external Bluetooth keyboard that transforms your iPad Pro into a MacBook with
its sturdy aluminum body that is cold to the touch and offers an almost
unlimited viewing angle.

11-inch iPad Pro with Brydge Pro
The keyboard itself has decent key travel, as we mentioned in our review and
are backlit with up to three different brightness options. It packs a battery
that can last up to a year and charges via USB-C, has iOS shortcuts above the
number key, and there's also a place for the second-generation Apple Pencil to
sit on the iPad and wirelessly charge.

If you do want more of a "case" with the keyboard, Brydge does offer optional
back covers that work with its keyboards for full coverage.

Logitech offers full protection, and a keyboard

The Logitech Slim Folio Pro on the other hand is a really nice rugged keyboard
case solution for the iPad Pro, which protects protects all four corners of the
iPad while also having enough clearance for the second-generation Apple Pencil.
It's made out of a high quality, durable silicone material and it's rugged.

Unlike the Brydge Pro, you'll have actual drop protection for your iPad Pro.

Logitech Slim Folio Pro
In terms of overall design though, we really like Brydge Pro keyboard in terms
of looks. It's a lot sleeker, and feels way better to carry the iPad when it's
closed, and it weighs less than Logitech's offering.

The Logitech Slim Folio Pro is not a slim device at all, despite the word
"Slim" on its name. It's a bit thicker than the Brydge Pro, and noticeably
heavier too, but there's a reason for that. While the Brydge Pro is lighter and
slimmer than the Logitech, the Slim Folio Pro acts as a case as well, and uses
different silicone materials to help protect the iPad from bumps and drops.

Functionality over portability?

When it comes to functionality, and how the keyboards perform, the Slim Folio
Pro is the clear winner here. As mentioned in our review, the keyboard feels
great, and has plenty of travel, very reminiscent of Apple's MacBook keyboard
before they switched over to their new butterfly switches.

Typing on the Brydge Pro is just OK once you have it next to the Slim Folio Pro
as it offers enough key travel, better than the Apple Smart Keyboard, but
without the same key travel or tactile feedback as the Slim Folio Pro. One
thing I do love from the Brydge Pro though is how bright the keys are at night,
with its brightness options able to emit more light than the Logitech Slim
Folio Pro.

Logitech Slim Folio Pro
Logitech offers two different typing positions by adjusting the back which
gives you a more vertical view of the display. You can also set it in drawing'
mode where the keyboard goes behind the iPad, but given the bigger footprint,
and key travel on the Slim Folio Pro, pushing down on the iPad on either side
of the device will make the iPad uneven at times and can be a bit frustrating
when using the Apple Pencil.

The Brydge Pro, on the other hand, offers an almost unlimited viewing angles
which is something I really love about this keyboard. Like a traditional
laptop, you can move the iPad at almost any angle and type away, and you're not
restricted to just two angles due to the free flowing hinge design. You can
also put it in movie mode or drawing mode by taking out the iPad and flipping
it the other way and folding it down.

Brydge Pro Keyboard
Battery life on the Slim Folio Pro is supposed to last up to three months which
isn't terrible, but isn't great either. The Brydge Pro on the other hand is
supposed to last up to a year on a single charge. We haven't had these two
keyboards for more than 3 months to check if these claims are true, but if
you're interested in a revisited video, let us know in the comments below.

Which wins out?

That said, which one gets the edge?

Here's the thing. If you're looking for a traditional folio keyboard case
that'll protect your iPad Pro from drops or bumps and scratches, and you don't
really care how thick or heavy your iPad Pro is, then pick up the Logitech Slim
Folio Pro. But if you're looking for something unique that'll offer an almost
unlimited viewing angles that mimics a traditional laptop that is thinner, and
weighs less, but still want a good typing experience, the Brydge Pro is what
you should pick up.

Where to buy

The Brydge keyboard for Apple's 11-inch iPad Pro and third-generation 12.9-inch
iPad Pro can be purchased

Apple at its recent WWDC opening keynote, announced the upcoming release of iOS
13, iPad OS, TVOS 13, Watch OS 6, and Mac OS Catalina. As expected, these are
major new software releases for all Apple platforms. However, this year
promises to be even more exciting than typical releases, as all platforms
include major new features and revisions.

Would you like a chance to help shape the final releases of this new software,
discovering bugs and reporting them to Apple before the official releases
occur? Are you a fairly competent user of one or more of the above Apple
platforms? Do you possess a positive attitude and a strong work ethic for
volunteer opportunities? If you answered yes, we would love for you to become a
beta tester!

Apple each summer makes available public betas of most Apple platforms, and
2019 promises to be no different. Beginning this July, Apple will release
public beta versions of iOS, iPad OS, TVOS, and Mac OS. Testers can install the
beta software and receive a sneak preview of all the new features, while
helping to perfect the final releases by discovering and reporting bugs and
other issues. This is truly an incredible opportunity and an awesome experience
- a chance to make a difference for millions of Apple users around the world.
As beta testers, Kliph and I run a support group for beta testers. Though not
at all affiliated with Apple, we do help to facilitate the process and provide
a forum for testers to discuss their findings, ask questions, and more. Since
every Apple platform contains massive overhauls this year, we believe it is
especially important to get as many beta testers as possible.

If you wish to become a part of this amazing experience, head on over to
https://beta.apple.com and sign in. Once you have agreed to the terms,
including the nondisclosure agreement, please send a blank email to:

This will let us know of your interest in joining our beta testers support

announcing the date of an important Zoom conference for beta testers.

The 25 iOS 13 Changes and Settings You Must Know

2019-06-11 Thread KliphnShari Miller
By Khamosh Pathak Posted by Khamosh Pathak on Jun 11, 2019 in Featured, iOS 13
A new OS update is more than just the big banner features. A good yearly update
should come with changes to the existing features as well. Changes that make
things better, or fixes flaws from the previous version of the OS. And iOS 13
does that, quite a lot. In some ways, it takes the last couple of years of
small complaints and fixes them at once. Take a look at all the iOS 13 changes
and settings you should know about.

iOS 13 Changes and Settings You Should Know About

To learn about the new features in iOS 13 and iPadOS 13, check out our lists
for What’s New in iOS 13 and What’s New in iPadOS 13.

1. Peek Works Across All iOS Devices

You can now tap and hold on any link or photo to open a little preview, with
action items at the bottom. This was something that was only reserved for
phones with 3D Touch. Now it works on all iPhones and best of all, all iPads.
Even on the iPhone X, there’s no need to 3D Touch for this feature.

2. Volume and Silent Mode HUD Moved

The new Volume HUD appears in the top-left corner of the screen in an
unintrusive manner. It first shows up as a full sized slide. But it immediately
shrinks and becomes unintrusive.

The intrusive HUD for ringer switch is gone as well. Now you’ll see a
pill-shaped drop-down when you enable and disable Silent mode.

3. Redesigned Now Playing Screen

The Now Playing screen in Apple Music has been redesigned. Features are no
longer hidden behind the scrolling menu. While that’s the great news, it also
means that Shuffle and Repeat buttons have been moved again.

And even this time they are hidden and quite small. You’ll have to tap on the
Up Next button and then find the Shuffle and Repeat icons next to the Up Next
title.

4. Better Card Sheet Interface

One of the issues of redesigning iOS 13 must have been the card sheet
interface. This is when a scrollable sheet pops up from the bottom of the
screen. Apple has fixed it by removing the card sheet interface from places
like the Now Playing screen in the Music app. And they’ve made it more
pronounced.

The card sheet actually has a header now, with the name of the section at the
top. There is empty space and stacking UI at the top to make it easier to
discern which card sheet you’re viewing.

5. Redesigned Tabs Everywhere

It’s a similar story with tabs. The previous, plan tabs would be hard to
discern in the dark interface. So Apple has added color inside the tab and
depth around it. You can easily tell which tab is activated and which isn’t.

6. Persistent Connectivity for Hotspot

This change will be appreciated by Mac users who rely on their iPhone for an
internet connection. Apple has reworked the Personal Hotspot process so that it
doesn’t immediately disable itself when your Mac is inactive. It stays on in
the background for a while. This little change will reduce the frustration of
using an iPhone as a hotspot.

7. Accessibility in Main Settings Screen

Accessibility is now a main section in Settings. And each sub-section in
Accessibility gets an icon. The whole section has been reshuffled and features
are now paired in sensible buckets.

8. New Undo and Redo Gestures

Along with the new gestures for copy and paste, there are new features for undo
and redo that work on both iPhone and iPad. To undo text entry or an action,
you can just swipe right with three fingers on the screen. The opposite gesture
will redo the change.

9. Separate Icons for Globe and Emoji Buttons

This little change makes things much simpler. In iPhone X and higher, the Globe
key is now detached from the keyboard and is now replaced with a persistent
emoji button. This gives you quick access to all your emojis and you no longer
need to tap and hold the Globe button to switch keyboards every time.

10. Redesigned Markup Toolset

The redesigned markup tool is great to use on the iPad. It can now be moved
anywhere on the screen. Plus, there are new tools for quickly selecting a part
of the image or the screen using your Apple Pencil.

11. Voice Control

Voice Control is a new accessibility feature that allows the user to control
the whole device using just the voice. In this mode, the user can ask the
iPhone to open apps, take actions like pressing a button or enter text and
more. The audio is constantly working in the background and is processed on the
device.

12. Redesigned Share Sheet with List of Actions

Share sheet in iOS 13 has one tap suggestions for sharing a photo or document
with some who is in the photo. There’s a new actions bar that comes up based on
the content.

13. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Switching from Control Center

Finally, Apple is letting users switch between different Wi-Fi networks right
from the Control Center.

14. Siri Sounds a Lot Human

The new Siri voice is created completely from text-to-speech and isn’t based on
snippets of recording. This means it’s a lot more

to let others know. Let me start by saying I am not a beats fan. I prefer
bose, or generic knockoff models with long battery life. The thing that has
turned me off from beats in the past was the wire going between each earbud.
So when apple announced “power beats pro truly wireless” I immediately became
interested. I hate wires, there always getting tangled up and over time become
unusable. These power beats pro bring a new life to music. I almost never
listened to music with the apple wired ear pods that came with each iPhone,
sound was poor at best. Plus wires always were tangled. The power beats pro
come ready to use. There is a hook that goes around the back of your ear, and
yes the tip goes in your ear, but its so soft and comfortable that you barely
notice it is there. If the tip is to large or small, there are 3 other sizes to
choose from in the box. You open the case, and a message appears on your
device asking if you would like to connect. It also gives you the battery
percentage of each ear, as well as the case. In some reviews, they say the
case is to large. It is a big case, but the headset needs room to charge and
not be damaged, especially the hooks, wouldn’t want those to get bent up. So i
understand. Plus, with the way my wife loses her airpods case, because she just
tosses it in her purse, this case being a bit large will benefit her. Music
sounds excellent! Base is balance and not overwhelming. I here sounds and
instruments that I had never heard before in some of my favorite songs. I
listened to some classics. Easy byLionel Richie, en of the road by boys 2 men,
some 2Pac classics, Kieth Sweat, even some New edition favs with some 70 and
60’s mixed in. Hey siri works flawlessly! When using hey siri, I didn’t have
to yell. A quiet voice still prompted siri and she did everything I asked.
Sports scores, wether, battery percentage, even sent my eldest daughter a text.
Dictation no issues at all. And skipping back and forward between songs is
also easy. Both earbuds have the same set of controls, volume up and down, and
the side button used for answering and hanging up calls, and playing music. I
am not even a audio book fan, but can’t wait to listen to some on this pair of
power beats pro. Battery life, all I can say is wow! Apple advertises 9
hours, each ear, and 9 hours is what you get. I tested this at work listening
to music and movies, and it lasted 9 hours 3 minutes. The 2nd time I drained
the battery I got 9 hours 18 minutes. So in this case, you are getting what you
pay for. Even caught myself dancing a few times cause the sound when playing
music sounds so good!
Apple’s own AirPods can’t touch these beats, the battery life alone was enough
to make me want to try them. And the sound quality is 2nd to none. If someone
says there airpods are better then power beats pro, then they haven’t even
tried them.

To wrap this up, this is the best headset I have ever used. They sound so
good, if I had the money all my closest friends and family would have a set,
already ordered my wife some before she steels mine lol. If you buy these, you
will not regret it.

Re: Any Tips on Using the Zoom Cloud Meeting App, for iOS?

2019-05-01 Thread KliphnShari Miller

No, it is straight forward. I use it 3 times a week, although mine is a pro
account. You just need email, password, and you are ready to go. They do not
spam you, and there customer service is great! The only difference between a
pro account and free account, is every 45 minutes you must restart the meeting,
unless it’s just you and one other person, then there is no limit, but 3 or
more with a free account, the meeting times out every 45 minutes. Then of
course there is the cost, witch I think is way to high, but who am I?
Thankfully I share the cost with someone who I share the account with. Lastly,
I think you cn only record with a pro account also, and you need to be in the
desk top app to do that. HTH

Re: iOS app to export contacts to a text file?

2019-03-29 Thread KliphnShari Miller
It depends on what your trying to do. I would recommend a app called,
“contacts backup”. It’s free, and it creates a csv file of the contacts on your
phone, emails it to you, when you want them back, you just tap on the file on
your phone, and it puts them in contacts

That is a nice feature, but I still don’t think that keyboard is worth the
price, especially when Logitech’s version of this keyboard is half the price,
and you don’t have to delete the emoji keyboard. JMO, everyone had there own
preference, glad it worked out for you.

You can also go to the discover tab, choose your network, and watch it there.
That way you can choose from on demand, or watch what is live at that moment.

Re: Best streaming TV app

2019-02-05 Thread KliphnShari Miller
Direct tv Now has improved dramatically over the last 6 months. It use to be
horrible, almost unusable on IOS, but do able on appleTV, now it is excellent
on iPhone and iPad. Even has tabs along the bottom with categories, and
sections of each channel that allow you to watch the 72 hour rewind if that
channel has it available. I have a little more riding on leaving them, since I
am locked into a permeation they had when the service 1st launched.

Re: Voiceover Navigation With iPad

2018-12-24 Thread KliphnShari Miller
Same commands you use on the Mac work on the iPad. Command r will reply,
command shift r will reply all, command shift d will send, command shift f will
forward. You can also hold down the command key in any application and it will
give you list of commands for that specific app.
