You could press control an option in the K and that will get you into voiceover
help with a keyboard what’s your in the help or you can press any key on the
keyboard and it should tell you what it does.

the numbers to dial a phone number on apple keyboard

2018-04-16 Thread Arlene
Malcolm, thank you for sending this list of voice over comands. One of the
ones I didn't know about was that on the apple keyboard that you could dial
a phone number. We haven't been able to get that to work. If you could tell
me more about that. Would it be the numbers located on the top row of the
keyboard or would it be a keyboard with the number pad? I'm just asking this
to make sure I know what is meant by the numbers. Thank you so much.

The way to solve this is to ensure that voice-over can be turned off with
the three click methods. Do this when you are using a keyboard and it
plays up, and it does work, it reverts to writing properly once again!
It's still a bit flaky, and I usually have to do this every time I start

Hi,

I am a little behind with mail, so this may have been answered, but I
haven't seen an answer yet!

The way to solve this is to ensure that voice-over can be turned off with
the three click methods. Do this when you are using a keyboard and it plays
up, and it does work, it reverts to writing properly once again! It's still
a bit flaky, and I usually have to do this every time I start writing on the
keyboard from scratch, but once I have started, it seems to work okay! Hope
this solves your problem

Using the Apple keyboard shortcut commands in Safari

2015-01-27 Thread Terri Elliott
Hi. I found some shortcut commands for Safari with the Apple bluetooth
keyboard. For example. It says command l to open another location or
command b to go to bookmarks. When I try typing these shortcut
commands in Safari nothing happens. I found a list of shortcut
commands on Google. It said that in order to make these keyboards work
that you have to install the omniweb program but when I looked that
program up it said that it was for the Mak computer. If anyone knows
how to tell me how to access these shortcut options in Safari with the
bluetooth keyboard I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

2015-01-22 Thread Richard Turner
If she is getting the typing mode options she isn't on edit but still on typing
mode.
She just needs to be careful when moving on the rotor to not go passed edit to
typing mode.

But, if she is using a keyboard, Command+v will paste the text.

Selecting a text from a website using the apple keyboard

2015-01-12 Thread Terri Elliott
Is there a way to expand the text that you want to select from a
website using the apple bluetooth keyboard? What I mean is: If I
wanted to select a daily quote from a website. I can select the
quote but not the author of where the quote was taken from. So in
order to select the quote and who wrote it is there a way to select all
of that to the clipboard using the keyboard? Is there a way to expand
it a little more so that the whole thing can be selected and copied?

If you ard not in an editable region, edit will not show up on the rotor.

Re: hilighting and selecting and copying a text with the Apple keyboard.

2015-01-09 Thread Sandratomkins
Terry,
Not sure if I'm understanding exactly what you want here, but I will throw in
my two pennyworths:if you want to edit or extract text from an email message,
four example, you can opt to reply to that message which will then put the
cursor at the beginning of the new message in new reply that you are editing
see you can then use the rotor to find edit and then select all and carry on
from there. Obviously you don't have toactually reply you can always cancel but
you you would have added to the clipboard that which you were looking
for.another way, and this one I can use, once in an edit field or even in a
message not in reply mode, if I'd just touch the centre of the screen to draw
attention to even just one word of text or even just one letter of text and
then slide two fingers apart on the screen I might get that letter or word,
depending on the mode on the rotor, selected. Once I have something selected, I
can then find edit on the rotor and work away from there.

Hope this helps and is vaguely clear,
Sandy

I'm not sure where you're confused. The list you quote is a mixture of
bluetooth keyboard commands and touch screen commands. I'm not sure if
that will help or not. Do you have a bluetooth keyboard? If so, it may
make sense for someone to sort that out for you. If not, it's probably
best just to ignore that message. Remember to read the message in

Re: hilighting and selecting and copying a text with the Apple keyboard.

2015-01-08 Thread Isaac Hebert
I could be wrong here so try at your own risk but a easier way to do this is to
press command a to select all and then press command c to copy it.
then switch to the text field that you are going to paste the text in to and
then press command v to paste it.

Re: hilighting and selecting and copying a text with the Apple keyboard.

2015-01-08 Thread Isaac Hebert
If you want to highlight a message and copy it to the clipboard you can press
command a to select the whole message.
Then switch the rotor to edit with the up and left or right arrow keys but
first before you can do that you have to turn quick nav on by pressing the left
and right arrows together.
Then you can find the copy option by pressing the down arrow to find the copy
option and then pressing the up and down arrow keys to select it.
Next switch to the app that contains the text field that you want to paste the
message in to and then press command v to paste the message.

First I would let voiceover read the message.
Next press shift vo c to copy the text of that message.
Next go in to a text field for a example choose reply and reply again to get
in to the text field where you reply to a message. then switch the rotor to
edit and then press the down arrow to get to the paste option and then select
with the up and down arrow keys together.
You can also paste with command v.

THE DOUBLE LETTERS ETC WITH THE APPLE KEYBOARD

2014-11-24 Thread carol.pearso...@googlemail.com
Like others, I've discovered I'm now smitten with the problem when wanting to
use the Apple keyboard and have tonight contacted the Accessability Team about
this. I do hope others will do the same as it's really a nasty one for those
of us who rely so heavily on our Apple keyboards.

I am also finding that it's difficult to get into the edit field and write a
message. I didn't see this problem when first I upgraded but, once I'd had the
problem of getting into and writing in the text fields, I then started to get
double letters.

A quick fix on this one, please, Apple Tech!

Meantime, along with others, I'll just have to keep trying to clear everything
and reboot.

I am glad to have seen that information on list, partly because I am assured
that others are having the problem but also I learned of the only work around
for now.

ANYONE ELSE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEIR APPLE KEYBOARD?

2014-11-07 Thread carol.pearso...@googlemail.com
Hi all,

My Apple keyboard has sprung a fault and I'm on the point of returning it to
the store and/or purchasing another if necessary. Three of us have now tried
without success to insert a coin to remove the batteries for replacement. The
end piece just doesn't budge! It looks to be in properly and I've never had
problems in placing the end piece back on.

If you have encountered the problem and found a way to release it, please let
me know.

Re: how do you select text with a apple keyboard?

2014-01-15 Thread Aruni Sharma
hello Anna, things are trickier when readonly text has to be selected. I
am quoting from a website. those commands were written for IOS 6.01 but
are still relevant. please comment.

Copying read-only text using a bluetooth keyboard
1Press the left arrow and right arrow simultaneously to ensure quick nav
is on.
2Press left arrow or right arrow to navigate to the phrase that contains
the desired text or the beginning of a large block of desired text.

3Press VO+shift+M. You should hear three beeps.
4Adjust the rotor to the unit of text that will be used to select the
desired text: characters, words, or lines.
5Use the pinch gesture to increase or decrease the amount of selected
text. Voiceover will speak text as it is added or removed to the
selection. Note that it appears there is no way to use the keyboard to
do this so you must use the pinch gesture.
6Press cmd+C to copy the selected text into the buffer. Voiceover will
announce the entire block of text that was copied to the buffer.
7Move focus to an editable text field and press up arrow and down arrow
at the same time to disable quick nav so you can edit the text in the
text field
8Move the insertion point to the desired location in the text field
using the commands defined in the Entering and editing text section of
this document.
9Press cmd+V to paste the text from the buffer into the text field.
Voiceover will read the entire block of text that was pasted into the
text field.

RE: how do you select text with a apple keyboard?

2014-01-10 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Can you please explain how Apple keys map to Windows keys?

I'm guessing Apple Option key is the Windows Alt key.
What does the Apple Command key map to?

I'm hoping Apples Ctrl key maps to Windows Ctrl key, but wouldn't mind a
clarification.
I have an Apple Bluetooth keyboard I want to start using, but have been very
confused and hesitant about newly trying an Apple keyboard. For example, the
instruction to use Command + arrow keys, instead of Ctrl+ Arrow keys would
never have crossed my mind.

Thanks in advance. Keith

Re: how do you select text with a apple keyboard?

2014-01-10 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Pretty much all of the pages I've seen, except for those from Apple,
which list the bluetooth keyboard shortcuts you can use also explain the
differences between a Windows and an Apple keyboard. The best
description I've seen is on http://www.hllf.net/70 where it says the
following:

... for Windows users, there are a couple noteworthy differences between
a traditional PC keyboard and an Apple keyboard. Instead of the control,
Windows, and alt modifiers, Apple devices use control, command, and
option. Control maps to control, Windos maps to command, and alt maps to
option.

Re: how do you select text with a apple keyboard?

2014-01-07 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

As with a Windows keyboard, the up and down arrows move by line, and the left
and right arrows move by character. Add the Option key, and left and right move
by words, while up and down sometimes move by paragraph. If you use Command
with the arrows, left and right move to the beginning and end of the current
line, and up and down move to the beginning and end of the document. Add Shift
to select. Use Command instead of Control; Command-C to copy, Command-X to cut,
Command-V to paste, Command-S to save, Command-Z to undo. Command-Shift-Z is
the Redo command.

Best,
Anna

2013-10-23 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Robert,

You probably have quick nav turned on on your other devices and not for your
iPhone. Try using the arrows with the Voiceover key pressed and see if that
works. If so then quick nav it turned off, you can turn it on by
simultaneously pressing the left and right arrow keys. This is a toggle, if
quick nav is off, Voiceover will say Quick Nav On, if it is on it will say
Quick Nav Off.

Hi Pablo,

I have been running iOS 7 on my 4S for about a month now,
first the Beta and
now the public release and the F8 for Play/Pause on my Apple
Wireless
keyboard is working fine. Maybe try to turn your phone off
and on again now
that you have done the update, also you might want to remove
your keyboard
and re-pair it, but as I said, it works fine here on my 4S.
I remember you
had the same problem after upgrading to iOS 6, could it be
that maybe you
have an old version of the keyboard or that maybe something
is wrong with
the keyboard?

play functions with the apple wire less keyboard. Before I
play music
pressing f8, but this key is not playing audio any more. Any
body knows how
play music from the music app, with the wire less keyboard?

2013-01-30 Thread Maria And Joe
Hi. If you happen to check this out, or if you know of anyone that does,
please pass on a review. I have a mac, an iphone, and an ipad. I'm not sure
how to disconnect the keyboard from the mac if I want to use it with the ipad
or iphone. I don't have a usb keyboard attached to the mac so I just shut the
mac down then I can connect it to the ipad.
I am thinking seriously of getting another keyboard for the ipad, but if there
is one that will switch, well.

for the battery's, I have had mine for almost 6 months, and have never had

On the Logitech one I don't know yet as it hasn't arrived. On the second
one, there is a pairing button right next to the on off switch, you hold it
for 2 seconds, and your device finds it.

Hi, to add more to this, if you have a keyboard which supports multiple
Bluetooth profiles, then it can be paired with more than one device.
Unfortunately keyboards like the Apple one and the Amazon one are for
only one device at a time.

I read last week about a new product called the Logitech Easy Switch keyboard.
It has buttons that allow you to switch between 3 devices, so you can have them
all paired, and just press a button to switch to the one you want to control.
Sounds quite nifty.

Re: USING APPLE KEYBOARD WITH MORE THAN ONE ITEM

2013-01-19 Thread Cheryl Homiak
You can pair with more than one but then you have to turn one off or be out of
its range to use another. I've done it with two and in the Apple store
questions I found people who had paired with three devices. it was warned that
there may occasionally be problems and that it will tend to pair with the
computer first so definitely don't be near your computer when trying to connect
to something else or turn the bluetooth off on the one you don't want to
connect with.

You should be able to pair a bluetooth device with multiple iDevices,
but you may need to turn the bluetooth device off and on before going
from being paired from one to the other. As long as you're not in
range of the other iDevices, or as long as neither of them are using
the Bluetooth device, it should be fine. I do this with braille
displays at work quite often.
