Hello,
I left it on 9, primarily for the email reading bug, where
flicking up with 2 fingers reads the entire 9.7 inch screen. I
would otherwise update, but because of this, I choose not to.

were doing before. Yes, I was so mad. I tried android, and I
changed my mind. Apple is better.
Android is several towns behind than IOs regarding
accessibility.

2016-12-13 Thread M. Taylor
Hello All,

Just a quick note to remind you that we're all on the same accessibility team,
here; so let's take it down a proverbial notch or two and be gracious in how we
express ourselves.

I am requesting that we keep this thread on point, said point being the issue
of the disappearing keypad during calls on iPhone 7.

Thank you for honoring my request.

Okay, here's my thoughts.
I have sent plenty of feedback to Apple. I was on the beta program with iOS 10,
probably 9 too. I sent them pretty good ideas, like being able to edit text in
braille screen input mode, being able to spell check, that is, move from one
error to the next and correct them using the rotor, using braille screen input
to input notes, using braille music, into garageband... And of course, the bug
reports. The mail freezing bug after sending an email, that's embarrassing! And
now, the focus bugs with moving from message to message in iOS. That's been
here for months. I reported it all, many times. I received the silence
treatment, though, including in waiting on bugs to be fixed and features
implemented. But I didn't stay silent as well, for long. I decided to jump
ship, and landed on another ship, which is actually moving towards land! I got
a Google Pixel phone. It's fast, has great battery life, and even a headphone
jack! Is this revenge against Apple? Shoot, maybe, but it's what we Americans
call voting with our dollars, and that's what I did. The Pixel isn't some $80
phone, either. It's Google's own phone, around the price of the iPhone.
Does it have bugs? Yes, especially if you use a bluetooth or USB keyboard with
it for a long time. Can it be used just like the iPhone? Yep, it sure can, and
that's what I do. Does it take a little getting used to? Yes, but after a week
or two, it works fine.
Guys, don't feel like Apple is the only way. It's not. If you don't like being
walled in, a prisoner of Apple's guidelines on what you can do with the device
you paid money for, if you don't like the way you can't talk with the
developers of the screen reader, if you don't like Siri, or having to use
Safari, then Android is waiting. iOS or Android isn't really about
accessibility anymore. It's about choice, and all blind people have that choice
to make.
Now, don't do what I did and get a $80 tablet to try Android on. Make sure the
thing you get runs android 7, or will run it soon. Don't get a low-speck device
and expect it to run well, it's just like a computer, which is the beauty of
it. If you know how to get old low-speck things working, then you can, but if
you don't, you'll need to spend a little more money.
All that to say, Android isn't 2.3 or 4 anymore. It's 7, and has grown much
over the years. It's not inaccessible anymore, and is usable. It's a choice
now, like Mac or Windows. The only reason iOS is seen as better is because it
was first.

If you have contacted Apple support many times to report issues then I

So by whining and complaining is never going to solve anything. So either email

For three possible reasons. 1. You had to setup your iPad to avoid downloading

Re: IOS 10.2 and phone keypad issues:

2016-12-13 Thread Mário Gabriel

Hi Pablo
Yes I know VO is still the best screen reader in the world for devices.
And that the apple platform is also the most accessible.

Yes, I prefer issues with accessibility than without accessibility.
Yes, I also know all the talkback issues on android, and everything else
you can talk about.
But all this does not take away my rights to want more and demand what
normal people demand ...

We can not stay all the time saying amen to all the good that apple has
done in the past and now it does bad in the present.

I have my rights and always fight for them.
And my rights have to be respected by apple as well as apple respects
the rights of normal people.

Apple has to work for me as an obligation and respect as a duty.
Apple can not think that it works for me as if it were doing me a favor.
I paid a small fortune to have a phone, and because Apple says on their
official accessibility website that their devices are 100 percent
accessible and can be used with total satisfaction.

And this is not true.
The issues of accessibility have to have the same commitment that apple
has with normal people.

I am being discriminated and I have to fight for my rights.
And that's what we should all do.
cheers.

Mario,

I understand you very well. Months ago, I was so mad. Months ago I was
in the list so mad about the ssame issues that you are talking about.
However, I tried android, and I learned that if IOs is no perfect, it
is better than android regarding accessibility.

IOs is no working well, apple broke the accessibility that was working
before, apple is affecting you because you are no able to use your
device in the way how you should. Yes, all of these are true.

But the accessibility on android is no like the accessibility in IOs.
My suggestion is that you get relax, and write an email with all the
points how IOs is affecting you with this update. If they don’t heard
you, they are no going to fix anything. Android has fixed some of the
accessibility issues in the last 5 yeears?

No, and they have improved accessibility very little in the last
android updates.

I continually give Apple feedback on things that need fixing or

Mario,

I understand you very well. Months ago, I was so mad. Months ago I was in the
list so mad about the ssame issues that you are talking about. However, I tried
android, and I learned that if IOs is no perfect, it is better than android
regarding accessibility.

IOs is no working well, apple broke the accessibility that was working before,
apple is affecting you because you are no able to use your device in the way
how you should. Yes, all of these are true.

But the accessibility on android is no like the accessibility in IOs. My
suggestion is that you get relax, and write an email with all the points how
IOs is affecting you with this update. If they don’t heard you, they are no
going to fix anything. Android has fixed some of the accessibility issues in
the last 5 yeears?

No, and they have improved accessibility very little in the last android
updates.

So, apparently Mario, you discount all the great accessibility Apple has put
into the iDevices because a few things don't work correctly?
If I took that approach to everything, I would still be using a manual
typewriter and braille writer and only sending letters through the standard
mail.
I continually give Apple feedback on things that need fixing or improving, but
I also thank them for all the great stuff they have done.
You are welcome to your opinion, but don't act like if someone has a different
opinion they are stupid or not doing their part.

2016-12-13 Thread regina alvarado

Amy, if anywhere in phone can you touch keypad and have it come up after
dialing? If in keypad and making a call does it still disappear? What about
dialing from a link? I am contacting support also as I have the loud VO on
calls too, but I have not made a call with prompts yet, thus the questioning.
Thanks.

I have a suggestion to make, and for those who feel that there are issues not
being fixed. My suggestion is to call instead of emailing, then you get to talk
to somebody in person about the issues that you're having. Might do some good.
This is what I did for the large text issue that got fixed with the newest
update. Be nice when you call, as it can go a long way.

Hi Sieghard.

I don't have the problem at all on my iPhone 6 s but my friend has a 7
and she does have the problem.

The problem is that the keypad disappears once the call is connected.

It happens if she uses Siri to make the call and it also happens if she
goes in to the phone appp and selects the keypad dials the call manually
as well.

Once the call connects the keypad disappears.

She is not a good iPhoneuser yet and by the time she fines and enables
the keypad again its probably to late.

My phone does not do this at all.

Its frustrating when you need to tenter touch tones to answer menu
prompts etc.

Many people have this issue and many don't.

Apple is looking in to it but I don't think they know why it happens for

Subject: IOS 10.2 and phone keypad issues:

I supposeits to soon to tell but I am wondering if the issue where the keypad
disappears on a phone call when it shouldn't has been resolved?

This is an issue appple is aware of but I suspect they haven't nailed it down
yet so not getting my hopes up.
