previewing PDFs in other applications
Is it possible to preview a PDF in an application other than Preview.app? I would much prefer to use Skim.app. -- -- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list yojimbo-talk@barebones.com. Goodbye to Yojimbo
My last 3 Emails for support of my issues have gone unanswered over a period of two weeks. I still have issues that make Yojimbo unusable for me. Synching doesn’t via .Mac doesn’t even begin to work, although I’ve used the Terminal commands I was given and reset/merged the data. Items I delete still show up in the usernameLibraryCachesMetadatacom.barebones.yojimbo folder Sometimes when I click on a Library item, it doesn’t show up in the viewer window - the last item viewed stays there and refuses to budge. Seems like tech support gives you an attempt or two, then gives up on you. I can only think of two reasons for the poor support: 1. Synching is such a problem (verified by things I’ve read elsewhere) that BareBones is throwing their hands up. 2. BareBones just doesn’t care about losing a customer here and there. I always thought that BareBones was a company of good reputation. I’m a fairly technically proficient user, so I’m not missing something obvious. As my trial runs out in a week, I guess I’m outa here. Don Truett [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Although we never give up on addressing reported issues, because of the complexities involved with syncing (i.e. a lot of stuff outside Yojimbo is also involved), addressing such problems can be very difficult. Accordingly, we appreciate your patience while we work through such matters. Regards, Patrick Woolsey / Director of Technical Services == Bare Bones Software, Inc. http://www.barebones.com P.O. Re: previewing PDFs in other applications
I know there is an AppleScript that can be adapted for this purpose: http://www.listsearch.com/Yojimbo/Thread/index.lasso?481#2780 (last post) Just change Adobe Reader to the name of your preferred PDF view (ie, Skim, PDFView, etc.). You can save the script in ~/Library/Scripts/ or ~/Library/Scripts/Applications/Yojimbo to access it with the script menu. Re: Your favorite scripts, plugins and extensions
Well, I am of course biased, but I use my Bookmark in Yojimbo script nearly every day. As it turns out, I do like having the original timestamps on some of my older compositions, too, so that's a small point in favor of the backdating scripts. http://anoved.net/bookmark_in_yojimbo.html http://anoved.net/2007/05/backdate-yojimbo-items.html There has been a lot of AppleScript shared on this list, so I bet there are some good ones (such as the one to open PDFs in a different viewer). Re: Goodbye
Patrick, thanks for the reply. I'm sure you folks are busy. I have put in so many hours trying to solve this (a bit OCD) beyond what I would normally do, just because I feel compelled to get to the bottom of this. Also, as I have about a week left on my trial, there is some urgency. If there's any way to extend the trial, please let me know I did find one clue. I wasn't able to empty the trash within Yojimbo until I put it on the master exclude list for Application Enhancers (haxies-WindowShade, FruitMenu, Labels). I deleted all of the data from my school Mini, then forced a reset from .Mac, Interestingly it populated the Mini with data from my MacBook, which I just brought to school and not from my G5 at home, from which I followed the above procedure to force Y data from it to .Mac. I may be having what J. W. Williamson observed (and was kind enough to Email me privately about), which is an ISP problem. I hope not, as there is no way around that. Cox would laugh at me before they hung up. -- -- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list yojimbo-talk@barebones.com. Re: Goodbye to Yojimbo
Don, Syncing is a complex issue, for sure. But there's many other factors to look at, and you might consider sharing a few of those details (if you haven't already). - how are you connecting to the Internet? - what speeds/latency are you getting from your ISP? - does .Mac syncing work for other applications, such as Transmit? - how large is your Yojimbo data store? Does a smaller store sync fine? I'll peruse the list archives for past message from you to see if I can build a complete dialog of your experience. And then we can see how to help you out. Other than syncing, how has your experience with Yojimbo been? Anything positive to share? ~Ted On 14-May-07 5:13 AM, at 5:13 AM, Don Truett wrote: My last 3 Emails for support of my issues have gone unanswered over a period of two weeks.
