RE: [libreoffice-accessibility] Does Java Access Bridge Work in 3.5.4?
Hi. The issue with JAB not working in 3.5.0 was fixed in 3.5.1 and I'm currently running 3.5.3 on a 32-bit Win7 machine with JAB 2.0.2. I installed JAB 2.0.2 using a nifty lieelt program called Jwin written by Jamal Mazrui. Jwin automatically downloads and installs the correct version of JAB 2.0.2 since Oracle no longer offered an executable installer. I don't have the Url but if you search for Jwin Jamal Mazrui You're sure to find it. I can try it with 3.5.4 if there's a chance that accessibility might be working and can report back to you if you'd like. I guess I'd just rather know if it works or whether it will fail if someone knows for certain. OK, Libo 3.5.4 seems to work with JAB 2.0.2. I haven't done exhaustive testing but menus read and I can use arrow keys to read text within a Writer document. If JAB wasn't working menus and arrow keys would be silent. RE: [libreoffice-accessibility] Does Java Access Bridge Work in 3.5.4?
Stuart, I also attempted to manually install JAB 2.0.2 and could not get NVDA to read the program and it was probably due to a similar error. I honestly do not understand why Oracle does not release an executable which nicely installs JAB as they did with 2.0.1. Jwin did a great job and it's what I'll use unless Oracle releases something which is more efficient. David, Thanks for the JWin tip and for checking your JAB 2.0.2 function in LO 3.5.4 Jamal Mazrui's JWin scripted installation ( http://empowermentzone.com/JWin.htm ) installs the correct Oracle provided DLL's and the JAB Jar files. But JWin does nothing different than Oracle's manual installation steps, so I must have made the error. It looks as if I'd borked the Java Access Bridge installation--guess it must be a common issue. Still poking around in the Windows specific LibreOffice configurations for NVDA--but it looks like the JAB 2.0.2 is mostly functional for LibreOffice 3.5.4 Will visit with the developers and probably now suggest closure of the 46114 Bugzilla report, although the LibreOffice crash was of concern, will not likely be able to reproduce. [libreoffice-accessibility] Issue with LibreOffice 3.5.4 Accessibility
Hi. A few weeks ago I downloaded the latest version of LibreOffice but hadn't used it until today. I'm using it with NVDA 2012.2.1 with the latest version of Java access Bridge and the latest Java runtime for version 6. I'm experiencing the following problem. When I open LibreOffice Writer I am told that I am in an edit field and things appear to work normally. After I type some text I am able to use arrow keys to review the text with the cursor and it reads properly. Menu items along with their corresponding tooltips also speak as they should. However, I noticed that when I pressed ctrl-A to select all text followed by the delete key to delete the text it appears that the text is deleted but pressing up or down arrow still reads the line of text as though it is still there. Even worse, once I open a new file from the Open dialog box the file opens but NVDA does not report that I'm in an edit field and I am unable to navigate through the document. This is extremely disappointing. Can anyone duplicate this? [libreoffice-accessibility] LibreOffice 3.5.5 and Screen Reader Accessibility
Hello. A while ago I wrote about accessibility-related issues I was having with Libo 3.5.4 and NVDA 2012.2.1. In this situation I was unable to consistently obtain feedback while moving the caret through my document with arrow keys. I was dismayed to see the same results with 3.5.5 even though assistive technology support is enabled and Java Access Bridge is installed via Jamal Mazrui's Jwin program. However, after tweeking some of the settings in the View menu I have discovered a workaround. Apparently the problem seems to go away when I switch the view from Print Layout mode to Web Layout mode. Once I set the View settings to Web Layout accessibility seems to be back to what it was. I haven't done extensive testing and so I can't say for sure it's 100% normal but it seems to be usable. Admittedly, accessibility should not be broken when using the program in Print layout mode but at least we have a workaround until this can be resolved. Hello. I uninstalled the components in the order in which you suggested. Using another installed screen reader I reinstalled all software in the order suggested and ensured that the a.t. support checkbox was checked when installing Libreoffice 3.6. I also enabled JAB via the control panel under accessibility settings but I still find that I have no access with LO 3.6 and NVDA 2012.2.1. I hate to keep harping on this. And I know it must seem like we are asking you to jump through hoops. But as Tom notes the effort is to clear it everything off and start clean from a known state. In your latest attempt you've ended up non-functional. To have a correct outcome, the install order IS important. LibreOffice gets install LAST. Remove in this order: 1. LibreOffice 2. NVDA 3. Java Access Bridge 4. Java Runtime Environment Install in this order 1. Java Runtime Environment 2. Java Access Bridge 3. NVDA 4. LibreOffice But note this: with JRE 1.7u7, the Java Access Bridge v2.0.3 is installed automatically and just needs to be enabled with a jabswitch.exe /enable command. Only for JRE 1.6 do you still need to use the JWin utility to install and configure Java Access Bridge v2.0.2. In other words you should no longer use the JWin program with JRE 1.7 greater than update 6. Rather, simply enable the built in Java Access Bridge and then install NVDA and finally LibreOffice. Also, during LibreOffice 3.6 installation, on the last page of Installation Wizard configuration Ready to Install the Program there will be two check boxes 1) Create a start link on desktop, and 2) Support assistive technology tools Check that box and then select the Install button. The assistive technology checkbox is off by default--and must be checked to enable assistive technology in LibreOffice without navigating the Tools - Options - Accessibility and Tools - Options Java menus. Without the Accessibility Support assistive technology tools checked, NVDA will read the outside frame elements of LibreOffice-but will not be able to read or navigate text within the components. Hello, Stuart. The last time I worked with Symphony I definitely noticed that accessibility was much better. I continued to stick with LO because Symphony does not have a built-in function in the File menu to send a document as an email attachment and Writer handles this function quite nicely. While Symphony has a plug-in to accomplish this task I found that installing plug-ins for Symphony via the keyboard was next to impossible. I'm glad, however, that LO developers are at least discussing how to best handle these accessibility shortcomings. I thank you for your explanations, patience and the time you are taking to explain as well as to verify these issues. NVDA does require the JRE and Java Access Bridge to properly control programs that are implemented with the Java Access Bridge API, unfortunately that includes LibreOffice. But NVDA will remain functional with the JRE JAB removed. NVDA only needs to be momentarily shut down when uninstalling the JAB JRE and can be restarted as the uninstall completes. =-=-= Another issue, per-user LibreOffice profile from past installation attempts or prior versions must be removed. Uninstallation of LibreOffice leaves the per-user configuration files intact. This is intentional from the LibreOffice developers perspective--but it adversely affects installation or re-installation of LibreOffice with accessibility tools and needs to be rebuilt cleanly. The per-user configuration is located at: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice Simply delete the LibreOffice folder and subfolders. And proceed with removal and reinstallation of the JRE, enabling the JAB, and lastly installing LibreOffice with AT enabled. =-=-= Finally, I am curious as to how incomplete the Flat Review LibreOffice JAB based Assistive Technology tools are compared to the Windows IAccessible2 based tools, or Linux AT-SPI based, or even the Apple Accessibility API based renderings. Since IBM continues to develop and distribute the Lotus Symphony suite, current release is 3.0.1 and is free to download and use. http://symphony.lotus.com/software/lotus/symphony/home.nsf/home/ http://symphony.lotus.com/software/lotus/symphony/home.nsf/home/ I grabbed a set of Windows installers (32-bit), and the FixPack1 for 3.0.1 from http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/downloads/ls/symphony/ http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/downloads/ls/symphony/ In a side by side comparison using NVDA and the same .odt document -- the IAccessible2 based Symphony clearly accessed more of the MSAA-IAccessible roles than did the Java Access Bridge based LibreOffice. Cursor navigation, and object based mode functioned--as did reporting of font changes, style and header levels and voicing of program annotations like spelling errors. Clearly under NVDA Symphony Document is more useable as an editor. Similar results in the Spreadsheet compared to Calc. =-=-= I'm going to press on and do the same comparison between a Linux Orca session of LibreOffice's AT-SPI based interface, and Symphony (in both Windows and Linux versions)--but suspect it will simply confirm there are serious shortcomings to the Java Access Bridge -- UNO a11y role mappings in LibreOffice on the Windows side. I can't say if this has been the state since inception, or is a recent change but will have a little better feel of what roles are working in Linux with ATK side versus in Windows with JAB and may then be able to rationally present the case of regression or needed enhancement to the developers. There is an open metabug on the Linux AT-SPI ATK AT-SPI2 side for Orca , maybe we need something similar on the Windows JAB side.( https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_activity.cgi?id=36549 ) =-=-= In the interim, until the Java Access Bridge based Windows functions are corrected--or until LibreOffice moves fully to and UNO a11y role - IAccessible2 role mapping under the IBM Symphony contribution--you may want to look at using the free IBM Symphony 3.0.1--of course that leaves you without Draw, Base or an Equation editor. [libreoffice-accessibility] Many, Many Thanks for Accessibility Fix
I am writing to say that I am doing the happy dance with the accessibility fixes in Libreoffice 4.0.5. I would like to thank any of the TDF developers who were involved with this fix. [libreoffice-accessibility] Question about using Libreoffice with New version of Java from Ninite
Hello. As I indicated in a previous message, I've had great success using Libreoffice 4.0.5 with my screen reader. However, I decided to use Ninite to install the newest version of Java. I have fixed the accessibility problems I was experiencing after installing Java via the Ninite installer. RE: [libreoffice-accessibility] Libo 4.0.5 and Accessibility/Follow-up
Hi. I just reinstalled Java from the official installer via the java.com Web site. Access Bridge lists itself as being enabled in the ease of access section, and yet Libo 4.0.5 did not have any accessibility using the latest release candidate of NVDA. I went to the Install Java Access Bridge option from the window-eyes program group and, after running their JAB installer, found that accessibility was restored. I contacted GW Micro to ask if their installer is doing anything differently, and they told me that it may be installing it in some additional folders beyond what the Java installer is doing. Can anybody confirm this? In other words, does installing Java via the java.com installer allow Libo to work with NVDA? Perhaps the Libreoffice developers could find out what GW Micro's installer is doing and replicate this behavior when the user enables the assistive technology support checkbox. [libreoffice-accessibility] Comments on using Calc 4.0.5 with NVDA
Hello. I've done some preliminary testing with Calc and NVDA. NVDA properly reads the cell coordinates as well as any data contained within the cell as you use the arrow keys. This is how screen readers handle spreadsheets in excel, and this is good news. However, if I type any data within a cell, pressing arrow keys after I enter any data reads too much information, namely the title of the open workbook folowed by instructions telling me that I can edit or enter data. It does this every time I use arrow keys to move from cell to cell. When I compared this to the behavior in OpenOffice, I noticed that OpenOffice does not have this bug and allows me to just hear the cell and its corresponding data while arrowing through the spreadsheet. Again, Libreoffice only begins reading too much information after I enter data into a cell. [libreoffice-accessibility] Issue Resolved/NVDA Reading too Much Information in Calc
A while ago, I wrote to this list reporting a problem where NVDA reads too much information in Calc. This occurs after I enter data in a cell. After I enter data in a cell, pressing arrow keys reads the title of the open workbook, the words formula bar and a prompt telling me that I can enter data in this cell. This made me wonder if disabling a toolbar might fix the problem. When I noticed that the formula bar was checked, I unchecked it and the problem has been fixed. While I consider this a bug, this is a reasonable workaround as blind users can work in Calc without needing the formula bar enabled. I am so thrilled that I now have good access to Writer and Calc again. I have filed this info in NV Access's bug tracker. Hello. I've been using LO 4.0.5 Writer with NVDA and accessibility support worked well. When I installed 4.1.1, accessibility support became broken. With the assistance of our sighted systems administrator, he was able to get me up and running and I wanted to share what he discovered. When he enabled a.t. support, it asked him to select a JRE. I only have Java 7/25 installed but he went to the advanced options and checked use a JRE. Even when he did this, the Java version remained unchecked and he had to manually check this version as well. This was the only version which appeared in the list of JRE installations. I'm wondering if the installation could manage this a bit better so that it might check the JRE, especially if only one is installed. [libreoffice-accessibility] Libreoffice 4.3 and Calc with NVDA
Hello. I've had a chance to download and install the official 4.3 build and did some testing with the almost latest edition of the NVDA master branch. I am still having a great deal of difficulty successfully navigating in a Calc spreadsheet as I receive little or no speech feedback from the screen reader as I use arrow keys. I do not have this problem in Writer, although the read all function seems to stop prematurely after reading a few lines of text and I believe this also occurs with OpenOffice. What is very odd is that spreadsheet navigation works perfectly with NVDA with OpenOffice and I'm under the impression that OO and LO are using the same Iaccessible2 code. Anyway, I wanted to report this and am wondering if others can verify my findings. Btw, I've gone into the view menu and disabled all toolbars and have ensured that items like the sidebar are disabled. However, I'm open to suggestions as to techniques I could try in order to improve Calc's accessibility. Thanks for all you're doing. [libreoffice-accessibility] Definite Progress/Calc Accessibility Issues with NVDA

Pressing the f2 followed by escape still does not reliably read cell coordinates or data as I move through the spreadsheet with arrow keys. However, at that point if I use ctrl-alt-N to exit and restart NVDA and place focus back into the spreadsheet, arrow keys work reliably and I can hear cell coordinates and any data which may be contained within the cell. RE: Re : [libreoffice-accessibility] Re: LO and Mac
Hi. I've been a screen reader user since 1991 when I started out with DOS 3.X and so I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about this topic. When you are dependent on using a screen reader, it helps if you can memorize shortcut keys. The more keys you can memorize, the more efficient you will likely be with computer navigation. For people who just don't do well in memorizing shortcut keys, teaching them how to use a program's menu bar or ribbon UI can be of great help, as this presents a simple way of getting to all of the commands contained within a given program. Many shortcut keys are quite intuitive and easy to remember: ctrl-S for save, ctrl-O for open, ctrl-P for print, etc. The alt key places focus in or out of the menu/ribbons and alt-f4, at least in Windows, is used to close the currently active window or, in many cases, running app. -Original Message- From: Tom Davies [mailto:tomc...@gmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, December 03, 2014 6:15 AM To: MENGUAL Jean-Philippe Cc: Alex Thurgood; Accessibility@global.libreoffice.org Subject: Re: Re : [libreoffice-accessibility] Re: LO and Mac Hi :) I am mildly curious about how people work with screen-readers when they are completely dependant on them. I have often used Ctrl w to close a document/tab but keep the main window open = usually most useful in a web-browser but still useful in other apps sometimes. -Original Message- From: Tom Davies [mailto:tomc...@gmail.commailto:tomc...@gmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, December 03, 2014 6:15 AM To: MENGUAL Jean-Philippe Cc: Alex Thurgood; Accessibility@global.libreoffice.orgmailto:Accessibility@global.libreoffice.org Subject: Re: Re : [libreoffice-accessibility] Re: LO and Mac Hi :) I am mildly curious about how people work with screen-readers when they are completely dependant on them. [libreoffice-accessibility] LibreOffice 4.4/Quite Nice
Today, I installed LO 4.4 and opened Calc using NVDA 2014.4. I must say that someone must have been doing some work quite recently. With 4.3, we had accessibility but I believe it was necessary to move to the formula bar and then move back to the worksheet in order to reliably hear cell information while using arrow keys to move through the worksheet. I notice that 4.4 doesn't require this and allowed me to hear cell coordinates and data contained within the cell without the need to move to the formula bar first. I admit I haven't done much beyond this but, if this has been truly fixed, I must say I'm quite impressed. -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: accessibility+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/accessibility/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Does anyone know if Outlook is automatically filtering out certain messages? I could find no such settings in the settings panel but perhaps I was not searching carefully enough. Next, I attempted to subscribe with a Verizon account. While I received a verification email in ten seconds after sending the subscription request, sending an email to the link provided in the message generated a confirmation, indicating that my message was invalid. Next, I used this Gmail account and the subscription went through without a hitch. I admit this isn't a LibreOffice issue but I'm wondering if anyone has any theories on why some of these accounts were not cooperating. My email client for all of these accounts is Thunderbird although I did try to subscribe via the Outlook.com Web site, with no confirmation. [libreoffice-accessibility] Question/Help Tips in Pull-down Menus
Hi. I'm using LibreOffice 4.4.1 with the latest offline help pack. I'm using NVDA 2015.1 as my screen reader on a Windows 7 32-bit machine. In previous versions, I remembered that the offline helppack generated help text for many of the pull-down menus, such as the items found in the File or Edit menus. I'm not sure when this changed but I notice that those help texts or tool tips aren't reading, although they are when navigating from within the Options dialogs. Re: [libreoffice-accessibility] Problem using Libre office accessibility features

Am I missing anything? Any help would be welcome, thanks in advance! Sorry--no seat of JAWS or Windows Eyes to test against. But, NVDA functions "out of the box" with LibreOffice exposing accessible events mapped to the the Linux Foundations IAccessible2 v1.3 API. The project does not bridge to MS UIA. And the old Java Accessibility API "Java Access Bridge" was stripped out when implementing the native IAccessible2 mappings. [libreoffice-accessibility] Initial Comments with LibreOffice 5.1 and Screen Readers
As I stated in a previous reply which I sent to this list, I'm running Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit edition with NVDA 2016.1 and Window-Eyes 9.3. Thankfully, the accessibility experience appears to be what I'm used to with older versions of LibreOffice. There is an odd issue with Calc which I initially thought was corrected but, as I now remember, I think the fix was only a partial one. When using Calc, I am able to easily navigate from one cell to the next using arrow keys and NVDA reads the contents of the cell if "report table cell coordinates is enabled in the Document Settings dialog. However, when I open a new workbook at that point, NVDA may read the first two cells but then stops reading as I move arrow keys. If I alt-tab to the last open window and then alt-tab back into the workbook, cells are read normally as I use arrow keys. Window-Eyes 9.3 still causes Writer and Calc to crash when they are opened. When running Window-Eyes, the first time I opened Writer it told me that Writer crashed and would save recovered files but subsequent attempts to open Writer yield no output. It's as if the program never opened. This behavior occurred with a previous version of Window-Eyes and I will therefore report this to AI Squared, the developer of this particular screen reader.
Re: [libreoffice-accessibility] Windows LO with JAWS

LibreOffice implements a native Windows accessibility bridge based on the opensource IAccessible2 API Reference: http://accessibility.linuxfoundation.org/a11yspecs/ia2/docs/html/ Unfortunately for JAWS users Freedom Scientific has never seen fit to implement modular support for IA2, so the short answer is it is known and JAWS willl not work with LibreOffice. You will need to install NVDA as a free and open source Windows backup to JAWS. The screen reader navigation is a bit different--but fidelity of IA2 accessible content is much better. Re: [libreoffice-accessibility] Using Libre office with the Jaws screen Reader
Chantal, For heading styles you can press control 1 for a level 1 heading, control-2 for a level 2 heading, etc. You can do this for heading levels up to 5. When you read the line of text with the new heading JAWS will verify your change by announcing the heading level before the line of text, just as it does for Web pages. As an example, if the line of text contains a level 1 heading and contains the text "hello" you would hear, "heading level 1, hello." For some reason pressing insert-F to speak the font and formatting dialog does not correctly identify the correct heading level. I will alert Vispero about this bug. Opening and saving documents is similar to other text editors. Ctrl-O can be used to open files, ctrl-S for saving, etc. Let me know if you need specific help with this. Re: [libreoffice-accessibility] Using Libre office with the Jaws screen Reader
Hello. I should add that many years ago it was true that JAWS did not support LibreOffice very well and, at that time, NVDA was definitely a better screen reader to be using. However, over time this has changed. Chantal, I'm afraid that I don't have the specific answers to your questions as I am only a casual user of Writer and have used it to perform what some would rightfully consider to be very basic editing. I don't know if a tutorial exists which is geared toward users of screen readers. I would be more than willing to participate in such a project if I improve my Writer skills as I really believe in what the Document Foundation is doing and have always appreciated their work since LibreOffice was first launched. I have a background in product training and support and have written professional documentation in the past and so assisting with a tutorial for visually impaired user is something which appeals to me. And if I ever do work on such a tutorial I promise not to write the type of run-on sentences that you see in this message. It is a bad habit of mine. [libreoffice-accessibility] Accessibility Regressions Observed With Writer 7.5.1 and JAWS 2023
Hello. Using Windows 11 22H2, the February update to JAWS 2023 and LibreOffice 7.5.1. I just upgraded from LO 7.4 to 7.5.1 and I have noticed two accessibility regressions with Writer and JAWS which make using Writer a total blocker for JAWS users. 1. JAWS no longer reads text when navigating in a document using standard navigation commands, such as left arrow, right arrow, down arrow, etc. JAWS just announces "edit" or is totally silent. This problem does not usually occur using NVDA 2023.1 RC1. However, I have seen this behavior occur once or twice. If I restart NVDA and move focus away from and then back to Writer once or twice the problem goes away and navigation works as expected. 2. When navigating in a pull-down menu JAWS is silent and no longer reads the item that has focus. Example: press alt+T for the Tools menu and press down arrow to navigate in this menu. JAWS is now silent when moving from one item to the next. RE: [libreoffice-accessibility] LibreOffice Calc 7.5.4.2 and NVDA 2023.1: NVDA Not Consistently Announcing Cell Coordinates When Navigating Using Arrow Keys
Michael wrote: >So far, I cannot reproduce this with LibreOffice 7.5.4.2 and NVDA 2023.1. At first I was baffled as I was encountering this behavior rather consistently. However, I now understand why you weren't seeing the problem as well as how to correct it. In NVDA's Document Settings I had the "Cell Coordinates" option in the "Table Information" group disabled. Once I enabled this option cell coordinates are being announced correctly in the manner expected. Normally, if this option is disabled you will just hear NVDA announce "cell" instead of the coordinates, such as A1, B1, etc. However, if this option is disabled I think you'll encounter the issue. If you start at cell A1 move to the right a few times and then move back to the left. You should notice that NVDA attempts to read the cell coordinates but often reads the incorrect reference. -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: accessibility+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/accessibility/ Privacy Policy: https://www.documentfoundation.org/privacy
[libreoffice-accessibility] LibreOffice Calc 7.5.4.2 and NVDA 2023.1: NVDA Not Consistently Announcing Cell Coordinates When Navigating Using Arrow Keys
Hello. I wanted to report this in case it's not a known issue. When using arrow keys such as right or left arrow to navigate in a Calc spreadsheet NVDA consistently announces the incorrect cell coordinates. This does not happen with JAWS 2023. Bibisecting shows that this starts at this LibreOffice commit: https://git.libreoffice.org/core/commit/235b30bdfa76b5c0514c7dfe2a0d13ab8ecf5be2 ("wina11y: Report actual app/toolkit name/version") Before that commit, LibreOffice was for some unknown reason reporting to be an app called "Hannover" with version number "3.0". Now, it's reporting the actual app name and version, which I think is the correct behavior. (See also the commit message for an example on how to query those values from NVDA's Python console. Note that this needs a "from IAccessibleHandler import IA2" in addition before running the given statements to import the required NVDA Python module.) My assumption would be that JAWS is still somehow relying on the previously reported app name and/or version to detect LibreOffice. If so, that should be changed/fixed in JAWS in my opinion. (I'd suggest to either query for the toolkit name, which is "VCL" or support not just "LibreOffice" as app name, but also "LibreOfficeDev", which is the name that the development version uses, and app names for vendor-specific LibreOffice derivatives.) Can you please report that to JAWS/Freedom Scientific (and keep this mailing list up to date on the outcome)? Please also mention in case any further input from LibreOffice side should be needed. The occasional non-announcement of paragraphs with NVDA (or also Orca on Linux) is something that I've also experienced from time to time, but I think that's a different issue and was the case in previous LibreOffice versions already. > 2.When navigating in a pull-down menu JAWS is silent and no longer > reads the item that has focus. Example: press alt+T for the Tools menu > and press down arrow to navigate in this menu. JAWS is now silent when > moving from one item to the next. This starts at this commit and looks like a regression in LibreOffice: https://git.libreoffice.org/core/commit/8d8e6c84e512c1a8b33aac75965b84481d1a1d13 ("[API CHANGE] Drop css::accessibility::XAccessibleStateSet") I have created a ticket in Bugzilla to keep track of this: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154303 Michael -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: accessibility+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/accessibility/ Privacy Policy: https://www.documentfoundation.org/privacy
[libreoffice-accessibility] LibreOffice Writer 24.2.1.2 for Windows: Pressing the Alt Key by Itself No Longer Moves Focus to the Menu Bar
Version: 24.2.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: db4def46b0453cc22e2d0305797cf981b68ef5ac CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22631; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: CL threaded In previous versions pressing the alt key by itself moved focus to the menu bar. While I can still press key combinations such as alt-f to open the File menu pressing just the alt key does nothing. Pressing f10 moves focus to the menu bar but pressing alt is a bit easier. Is this a bug or was it a deliberate change? I can't locate any options in Settings to revert this behavior. F10, or cycling F6 remains the core keyboard and assistive technology movement. Nothing has changed. Please note thought that for the current master against a 24.8.0 release, handling of the Alt key has been adjusted as for tdf#54169 ( https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54169 ) to follow os/DE settings. Which, with a MS Windows assistive technology tools enabled signal, should toggle enabled with a screen reader in use. You can check a current nightly of master and check for any impact. I've misremembered the progression. At 5.1 for bug tdf#92630 and handling on GTK3 we'd tweaked the mbEnableAccel and mbAutoAccel to be consistent cross platform. Which for Windows eliminated the key focus onto main menu 'File' with opening of that menu. See won't fix bug tdf#124048 Instead was behaving like and would only focus to the main menu default of 'File', without opening it. Requiring a cursor key between menus, or one of the main menu mnemonics, was now needed. and behaved the same entered from document canvas. Meaning the should toggle to the main menu, and *confirming your observation* of an issue at 24.2.1.2 release. However, at 24.8 for bug tdf#54169 we've cleaned up the UI response to and to follow the SPI_GETKEYBOARDCUES read from MS Windows 'Ease of Access center' action "Underline access keys when available" or from Win11 accessibility settings "Underline access keys". And with that the focus again matches the focus.
