Re: How do I track down Google Login, Developer Token, and Client Customer ID?
Hi Patrick, Google Login - this is the credentials you use to log in and manage your AdWords Account. Our client libraries can accept an email and password and obtain an AuthToken from the ClientLogin service (which is deprecated), or you can use OAuth2 to avoid writing down your password (recommended). Developer Token - you can find this value in your developer MCC account under My Account - AdWords API Center. You'll need an approved token if you want to work with non-test accounts. ClientCustomerId - this is the Customer ID of the account you wish to make calls against - format is 123-456-7890 (dashes optional). - Kevin Winter AdWords API Team On Tuesday, May 21, 2013 2:16:57 PM UTC-4, Patrick Williams wrote: Is all of this information readily available in the Adwords interface? Re: AdExtension Migration
Hi Pete, Upgraded a legacy campaign with extensions to Enhanced will not automatically convert the extensions to upgraded extensions. This is a separate option in the UI (or a separate step via the API). Re: PLA Reports
Hi greez, It depends on what you are trying to do. The Keywords performance report breaks down metrics by keyword. Criteria report includes keywords and other data. The KeywordId + AdGroupId can be used to uniquely identify keywords (and tie the Ad Performance Report to the Keyword report). Hi Justin, It's not possible to modify the bid modifiers for that criterion type via the AdWords API at this time. Re: How to set geo-targets in new campaign (python)
Hi, The two types of geo targeting at the campaign level are the campaign criteria for Proximityhttps://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201302/CampaignCriterionService.Proximityand Locationhttps://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201302/CampaignCriterionService.Location. The Proximity target allows you to specify a GeoPoint with microdegrees (i.e. float times 1,000,000) or you can specify the address (which gets turned into a geo point behind the scenes) - both options allow a radius. Re: CustomerSyncService to find deleted adgroups
Hi Shruti, We don't break out changes at a per-field level. One approach would be to check for entities that have had their fields changed and then get a list of all their current fields (of which status is one) and then update your local copy to reflect it's current status (i.e. DELETED). - Kevin Winter AdWords API Team On Thursday, May 9, 2013 11:55:01 AM UTC-4, Shruti Habbu wrote: Hi, Is there a way to find deleted adgroups using the CustomerSyncService? Re: Query regarding rate sheet
Hi Shruti, The idea is that mutating a single object (campaign, keyword) will count as an operation, but retrieving multiple objects in a single request will also only count as one operation. The reasoning is that its actually more expensive to return 100 items 1 at a time, 1 per request versus 100 items in a single request. Re: Policy Violation after Validation
Hi Nils, I think if you sent those same ads to the AdGroupAdService instead of the MutateJobService, you'd still get the policy errors. The validateOnly process is a best effort - it won't necessarily apply ALL the validation that a real request goes through - just most of it. Think of validateOnly as a good sanity check, to make sure the request is mostly right. On actual mutate it goes through the whole gauntlet of checks. - Kevin Winter AdWords API Team On Wednesday, May 1, 2013 5:53:48 AM UTC-4, Nils Hempel wrote: Hallo Google AdWords Community, I have a problem with the validation of my Ads and Keywords as well. Re: Does the AdWords API support authentication via service accounts (OAuth 2.0)?
Hi all, The PHP does not currently support service accounts out-of-the-box - it requires a combination of Google Client Libs integration to achieve this. For Python, you can pass that credentials object into the AdWordsClient constructor like this: https://code.google.com/p/google-api-ads-python/source/browse/trunk/examples/adspygoogle/adwords/v201302/misc/use_oauth2.py#75 . However, you need to explicitly impersonate a user. Can I ask why you are using service accounts? Service accounts are used to impersonate specific users while using Google Apps for your Domain. For most cases, simply performing the auth flow once and persisting the refresh token is sufficient for non-interactive usage of the API. We're working to make it easier to use OAuth2 with the various client libraries and would appreciate feedback. - Kevin Winter AdWords API Team On Wednesday, May 1, 2013 8:06:47 PM UTC-4, Brent Hoover wrote: Speaking about the Python lib: Firstly, I cannot seem to acquire anything from the API Console for AdWords that has a client_secret, so all the interactive examples do not work for me. Re: Does the AdWords API support authentication via service accounts (OAuth 2.0)?
Hi Brent, It seemed to me that service account was my only option, not an option I chose. I initially started down the path of doing exactly what you described, even using the Django sample included in the OAuth lib. However, all these examples, and in fact all API's except for service accounts seemed to require a client_secret which I do not see in my account. (I get a client_id obviously). What I do see is the p12 key, which tends to lead you to believe that you should be using that, and I believe the only type that uses that is using a Service Account. I would have no problem using the more typical interactive authorization as the application does have a web interface, but I could not see how to get the API Console to give me a client_secret for the AdWords API. (I tried a couple of other API's out and they provide the client_secret and the OAuth examples work just fine). Hopefully I am mistaken and there is a way to obtain a client_secret for AdWords and I can go down the simpler path of interactive authentification. If I navigate to https://code.google.com/apis/console/ and choose my project, then click on API Access, I see the attached screenshot that has the client ID and secret (that I previously created). If you haven't already, you can create a client ID to use OAuth2 - service accounts are not the only way (and certainly not the easiest way). What we recommend is to use the client ID and secret (from that page) to perform the OAuth2 flow once (for each account you would normally use an email and password with for ClientLogin) - save the refresh token and use it to obtain a fresh Access Token any time you need to make API calls. - Kevin Winter AdWords API Team On Friday, May 3, 2013 10:38:00 AM UTC-4, Kevin Winter (AdWords API Team) wrote: Hi all, The PHP does not currently support service accounts out-of-the-box - it requires a combination of Google Client Libs integration to achieve this. Re: CustomerSyncService (v201302): questions about lastChangeTimestamp, updated campaign criterions within CampaignChangeData, and new ads/criterions within AdGroupChangeData
Hi Julian, Our goal is to be able to detect changes to campaigns (and it's children, and it's children's children, etc) since a certain datetime untill now. We're talking about additions, deletions and updates -- in other words any and all changes. If CustomerSyncService is not the best way to go about it, how would you advise we proceed? It depends what you need to detect these changes for. If its simply to make sure your local copy of data is up to date, another approach might be to periodically download structure reportshttps://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/guides/structure-reports. Most attribute fields are there (but not all). It is unfortunately not currently possible to to detect each and every change to any field in AdWords. CustomerSyncService and structure reports don't cover every field for every object. The API itself doesn't have fields the UI allows you to edit. - Kevin Winter AdWords API Team On Wednesday, May 1, 2013 1:10:49 PM UTC-4, Kevin Winter (AdWords API Team) wrote: Hi Julian, 1) I believe this will be the end of the date range you request. 2) I don't believe its currently possible to detect changes to bid modifiers for campaign criterion. 3) I believe that the changedCriteria includes additions. Re: API responds with 403 on one machine and not on others
This is part of standard risk detection. The IP address your server uses to access ClientLogin is different from the IPs that the account normally logs in as (which is what it looks like when someone has compromised the account). As a result you'll get the 403. You can use the CAPTCHA unlock to whitelist your server, or you can move to OAuth2https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/authentication#oauthwhich won't have these issues. - Kevin Winter AdWords API Team On Wednesday, April 3, 2013 1:32:59 PM UTC-4, Jonathan Wu wrote: This is on a headless linux server. Re: How to add dummy data to my test account
We're working on a mini-guide explaining how to approach this. In the meantime, here's a draft: Test accounts will not serve impressions, therefore they will not have any metrics. It is still possible to download structural reportshttps://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/guides/structure-reports- but you will only see zero-impression rows, which means that segments will not work. To get around this limitation, we suggest displaying fake data. The Token Review team needs to see that your application can interact with and display report data. By mocking out the report call (i.e. pretending the report call succeeded and using a locally stored file containing fake report data), you can work with report data without actually having such data come back from the API. The reports come back in a predictable format. Let's say you wanted to run a Campaign Performance Report pulling Date, Campaign Name, Id, Impressions, Clicks, Cost. An example file could look like this: CAMPAIGN_PERFORMANCE_REPORT (Mar 20, 2013-Mar 23, 2013) Day,Campaign,Campaign ID,Impressions,Clicks,Cost 20130320,Widgets,123,1211,19,14.92 20130320,Sprockets,456,300,4,2.92 20130321,Widgets,123,901,12,9.86 20130321,Sprockets,456,340,5,3.86 20130322,Widgets,123,1065,16,11.23 20130322,Sprockets,456,509,6,5.23 20130323,Widgets,123,1005,15,10.12 20130323,Sprockets,456,287,3,1.12 By constructing such a file and storing it locally, you could have your application mock the call to the API - when the report is requested, return the stored file and process that rather than making an actual API call. You can create one file like this for each report you’d like to display. - Kevin Winter AdWords API Team On Wednesday, April 10, 2013 9:08:45 AM UTC-4, William Rufino wrote: Can anyone give me an idea how to test report api without data? Re: Find the keywords related to Ad
Hi Worg, Keywords don't have any direct connection to a specific ad. You add keywords to an ad group. That ad group also has ads associated with. At serving time, bids and other factors determine which keyword triggers an ad. If you want a list of all keywords that can trigger an ad, you should use the AdGroupCriterionService with a predicate that specifies AdGroupId EQUALS 123 where 123 is the Id of the adgroup to which the ad belongs. If you want a list of all keywords that actually triggered an ad during a timerange, an Ad Performance Reporthttps://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/reports#adwith the KeywordId is your best bet (but only gives you the id, not the actual keyword - you can use KeywordId + AdGroupId to find the keyword text via either a Keywords report or the AdGroupCriterionService). - Kevin Winter AdWords API Team On Tuesday, March 19, 2013 4:49:30 AM UTC-4, johann loreau wrote: Hello, I am looking for a solution to re find keywords related to a AdGroupAd- id. Re: Waiting to hear about your test account?
Hi all, In general, the accounts will be marked as test accounts before you receive an email. The quickest way to test is to make a request against the test account. If you use an unapproved developer token and the request succeeds, the account has been made a test account. Re: [8-5218000000566] Enhanced Campaigns; Retrieving bid adjustment data
Hi Reed, I think one of the main reasons to use a enum for the minutes is that we only accept a limited subset of values. It's intuitive from the field name what range of values we expect for the hour, but not for minutes. By using the enum, we make it clear to the developer that we only accept a subset.
