Re: [AFMUG] RackInjector + ePMP 2k

2018-01-09 Thread George Skorup
No, this is just my bench setup for now. So no surge suppressors,
bonding and stuff to make things more confusing.

Honestly, I've just been using the on-board GPS on the ePMP stuff until
now, mostly because we've been doing omni micro-POP sites or one or two
sectors. But we're going to start doing more full clusters and I want
everything at the same site on the same timing source.

And I don't know WTF is going on, but I can't seem to find APC PRM24's
anywhere. Found some on Amazon only to have the seller tell us their
stock was wrong and they don't have any. Now we've had some on order for
weeks from Solid Signal. Apparently they don't have stock either, so
they said they'd drop ship from Tessco or something like that. And.
they're waiting on them from Schneider/APC. Bastards. So that's mostly
why I've had two RackInjectors sitting in my office doing nothing and I
figured I'd at least power them up and play around. As if I don't have
enough other shit to do.

Radio is set to sync source = CMM3. Status shows CMM Sync Down.

Now the obvious question is, I'm guessing I needs it to be -4/5
+7/8 like traditional Canopy? The 2k is 802.3at compliant, so I'm
guessing that will be fine. But the OEM brick is different. I
assume the answer is yes, but I don't want to blow things up.

Unless I'm doing something else wrong. The RackInjector shows sync
and yes, the sync pulse is enabled on the port.

Probably another question is, will the 2k support "Cambium Sync"
like the 450i and 450m? Or are they going to make us wait for the 3k?

Re: [AFMUG] Employee clocking out and such...

2018-01-09 Thread Adair Winter
Our guys clock out when they get back. They don't clock in until they get
to the office or if leaveing straight to a job they can clock in right away.
But if I send the an hour away from home/the office to do an install. I
feel like it's only fair to pay them to drive home. Now obviously if home
is further than the office, they don't get paid for that time.

Re: [AFMUG] Employee clocking out and such...

2018-01-09 Thread Darin Steffl
They clock out when they leave their last job. We don't pay for the first
30 minutes of their commute to/from their first and last job. So if they go
to their first job in the morning 45 minutes away, we pay for 15 minutes.
If their last job is 45 minutes from home, we again only pay for 15 minutes
of that drive. If it's 20 minutes, they don't clock in until they arrive
on-site, etc.

You are not obligated to pay for commute times for employees who take their
vehicle home. The 30 minutes is a reasonable expectation for commuting. You
wouldn't be able to say 3 hours is reasonable though and try to get out of
paying them for that long of a drive. This might also be different if your
guy lives 45 minutes away. Then that is a reasonable commuting time that he
would do anyway so you don't need to pay him for that time.

We do our best to have guys go to their first job right away in the morning
and keep them out of the office.

I've got a hydraulic reel trailer, but I've found that it is just as easy
to cut the drops ahead of time, roll them up, and load them into the van.
This is also nice, since I splice both ends of the drop, I can go ahead and
splice the drop fiber into the enclosure that goes on the house ahead of
time.

Do you just spin the reel by hand to spool out what you need?

We just use the large reel. Get a reel holder that you can pull behind
a vehicle.

When he came in, I was pretty shocked at what he was able to do.

As I'm getting into larger quantities of fiber, I'm finding that I will get the
best pricing on 40,000 ft reels of drop cable.

If we do that, then I'll need some kind of payoff system to transfer cable onto
smaller spools for field techs. I have no idea where to begin shopping for
that, but I'm betting somebody here has been down this road before. What
