Hello,
We're about to upgrade our current backup system from a Sony SDT-1
DAT Tape drive to something detatched (external) and with a larger
capacity.
I've been looking around at tape drives and backup software, and I had
Amanda recommended to me. Upon looking at amanda.org, I didn't see a

When you run ./configure for Amanda, use --with-dump-honor-nodump.
Remember to remove config.* (or "make distclean") before re-running
./configure.
You might take a look at your /tmp/amanda/sendbackup*debug files and
make sure it

Hi there.
Anyone is working on this topic?
I know that we are all "command-line" oriented, here :-) but when I try to
propose amanda to my customers this is the main question (not "reiable?" or
"scalable?" ... strange people) ...

I don't think this is an amanda issue, since practically everything
fails with mtx. I can't even make the drive eject the tapes manually...

John's list was posted 26 Jan. It was derived from the addresses
subscribed to the amanda lists. He posted a couple of well thought
caveats. One to add is that using Amanda somewhere in an organization is
not the same thing as using Amanda throughout the organization.

Hi all!
This may have been answered somewhere before but I couldn't find it. I'm
trying to compile Amanda 2.4.2p2 on a Sun V880 with Solaris 8 10/02. I
get the following error:
checking for flex... flex
checking for flex... (cached) flex
checking for yywrap in -lfl... no

I'm going to be doing daily incrementals as well as weekly full backups.
both will be on a 2 week cycle.

Is anyone out there using the Exabyte X80 or X200 libraries with
Amanda? On what platform?
Thanks.

My current project is to convince a local utility that switching to
amanda from their defunct no-longer-supported backup system is a good
idea.
The IS manager wants to be assured that Amanda has wide usage at large
companies or organizations. I know the National Institute of Health
and the US D

Hi!
First of all congratulations to Jonathan Johnson for his little Amanda!
I have a tricky issue with my Amanda 2.5 and native Kerberos V (all from the
Sourceforge CVS). I managed to compile everything correctly (well... correctly I don't
know, but it compiles!), but I cannot set up any kerber

Hi,
I have browsed the online mailings and just really want to confirm some
settings for the dumpcycle and runspercycle.
At present I'm just setting up a full backup system, then work to daily
incrementals.
I have got the system to work by running a onetime backup using my
configuration, so
I have a FastStor DLT1 changer with Quantum DLT7000.
The drive somehow forgot that there's a tape loaded.

man modules.conf is a good place to start. You could also make a new
initrd, but modules.conf is the way
list the modules in /etc/modules

Hello all.
Thanks for all the help in the past.
I've got my tape to work using scsi emulation. I load the relevent modules
and everything works, untill I reboot. How can I get these modules to load
when booting?
Thanks, Trevor.

Hi All,
I'm using amanda on linux box with ext2 file system.
I would not like to ever backup files with nodump flag set.
Is there a way to set honor level for dump (-h option) to 0?
