I believe we ran the 5.x ARS against the Oracle 10 for a while. I know I've used the 8i client against a 10g server. If I remember correctly we only had to tell our DBA to make sure to set up the instance we connect to with a SID instead of the newer Service Name. Run your ARS telling it
