Why do we not start a Remedy Online Book wiki where everybody can add their
comments/experiences and then compile the book from that? Might be a good
start and all can comment or add when they like to...

Hello everyone,
I am trying to build a URL to open a specific category in the Service Request
Management Console from an external application.
There is a URL Builder in SRM7.6 but not in SRM2.2. I was looking at the field
ids which get included in the URL but obviously the field between
Thank you very much Guillaume,
I was able to re-create the application with another name (good luck
there was a def file exported a while ago) and re-point all links to it.
So for the moment we will not touch the database as we seem to get rid
of timeouts.
Thanks again for your time and
I would be interested in such a book. Maybe I could manage the Spanish
translation.

Hello Larry,
The application published by ARSmarts (www.arsmarts.com) can do that for
you (and much more). They just started a new beta program, so it is a
good opportunity for you to test it for free.

Neha,
Are you just seeing a white screen when the form starts to open? If so the
person logged in does not have write permission to the directory where the arf
and arv files are created.

Hi,
Windows actually has a setting that allows you to switch between the 2
keyboard types. Here is an informative link on the topic:

I have seen this sometimes and it appears the form definition file on the
workstation becomes corrupted. When this occurs for a user, I log on to the
Admin Tool. Select one of the form's active links, disable, save, enable and
save again. This forces the client to update the def file.
Server:
If it is all forms not showing, I’ll go with the no permissions on the home
directory where the arv and arf files are stored. Also if this is the case, you
should not have any problems displaying these forms in the Mid-Tier or on the
Dev Studio.

I’m wondering if anybody out there is using Weblogic 10.x with ARS 7.1 Mid-Tier
UNIX/Sybase. Remedy compatibility matrix states that the highest version of
Weblogic that is supported with ARS 7.1 Mid-Tier is 9.2. BMC will only state
that Weblogic 10 is not support, but will not say if it will

Do you have a list of what uses each queue? I don't know the exact

What this means is that you need more threads in those queues to handle the
Hi List
We are planning to upgrade our existing ARS server from ARS 7.1 patch 5 to ARS
7.6.04 SP2. Currently we are using Oracle 10g R2 which is minimum version of
Oracle that is supported by ARS 7.6.04 as per the compatibility matrix.
I wanted to check is there any merit or does BMC recommend
I would recommend you consider the further supportability of Oracle 10gR2 by
Oracle as the primary factor in your decision.

Hi David
Thanks for your response. Yes we plan to upgrade to Oracle 11g but we are
planning to upgrade to ARS 7.6.04 in one change window and in the following
week upgrade the DB to oracle 11g.
The reason for this is that we have around 5 AR servers (server group setup)
and 13 mid-tier to
What OS are you on? For unix/Linux ARS 7.6.04 requires the 64 bit Oracle 11g
client which will work with the 10g server.
Also I am with you that you never want to do both a DB upgrade and an
application upgrade at the same time.

Hi Andrew,
They have also different information on older documents,
The document Performance Tuning for Business Service Management dated
from October 2007 states on page 19:
If the thread count is set too low, the AR System server will have low CPU
use, poor throughput, and potentially poor

Have you had any luck getting your connection?
I was able to make a view of the Linked Oracle Table in MS SQL Management

I then went back into the MS SQL Manager and queried the remote DB from
FYI - in 7.6.04 ARS config guide page 26/462 states:

Maybe it is returning an array which remedy cannot map back to a single field.
Since the service supports multiple phone numbers as input according to the

That's a big limitation of using native remedy web service consumption, only
way we got around this was
Yes the AR System does not support a array to return results to. This a single
row output.
Use it with SoapUI or SoapSonar, enter any valid or invalid phone number and
you get a single row output.. I used SoapUI in the first place so I know what
to expect as result to build a few fields in

We are on Unix and know we need a 64 bit Oracle 11g client. But wanted to check
if there are any issues that people have faced using 11g client with 10g server.
As BMC support is saying that we would have to test ourselves if 11g client is
fully compatible with 10g server
