I sincerely thank bladestorm for post 101. So often we are perceived as wanting to have the last word on a subject when nothing could be further from the truth. We dont discuss with you the existence of God because we wish to anger you or challenge your belief system; we discuss the existence of God because we truly believe he exists. I have had to come to a conclusion as this discussion has progressed and am willing to admit it here and now, but before I do, I urge you to keep on reading after this admission, else you may mis something of the greatest importance. Skeptics and atheists ask for empirical proof on a regular basis. I am forced to conclude that yes, you are right, I cannot give it to you, anymore than you can give me empirical proof for the existence of King Tut. You may find evidence for his existence, can point to any number of archeological artifacts as evidence, but the truth is that you cannot assert it as proof of his ex
 istence. Evidence points to fact. Proof establishes a fact as undisputable truth. What you can do, is suggest that the amount of evidence favors the fact of his existence, just as I can do the same with God.So, let us go back to truth. The truth is that as far back as man can point, the concept of God has always existed in some form. The idea that a supreme creator exists makes sense to man, so much so that when man rejects God, he must inevitably choose to believe in something else, even science. The truth is that man must have something to believe in , even if that belief is in his own self and self importance. The truth is that man cannot go on living without something to believe in from the moment he first asks why. Why was I born? Why am I here? Why is the world the way it is? The answers to these questions provide a foundation for all that he does, a basis for all that he is, a backbone to support him and 
 his decisions, the way he chooses to educate future generations. Everything he learns implicitly and explicitly governs everything from how he treats his fellow man to what he will allow to influence him. Should he stop asking why, I believe it is possible that something with in him has died.If you choose to believe that you have nothing certain in life to face other than your death, if you would rather choose to believe that you are the product of time and chance that culminates into accident which by some inexplicable circumstance obtained the capability to internalise, to rationalise and, yes, even to hypothesise when no other animal has been able to do so on our level, you are free to do so and I will not ever hold it against you. What you cannot do, is claim that such a mindset is anymore absurd than my own. You cannot by token of what you believe suggest that you have any more right to rule than the lion who lives in the jungle, or the most massiv
 e of whales living in the sea, or the golden eagle soaring through the sky, or even the bacteria living in countless petri dishes throughout the world. You are not significantly different than any of these organisms. Your existence, like theirs, will fade away to nothingness with your death. I cannot make a point if a point does not exist because I cannot pretend and, and I dont believe anyone else can, either. Ive heard people who proudly proclaim that, if you believe in nothing, you should find something to believe in. I humbly ask, why is this necessary? Why can we not exist without any belief?

To add to Ians point, the Alure library does greatly simplify working with openal-soft. It can handle doing the stream on a different thread for you, and has other useful functions as well such as built-in support for .ogg files, and loading sounds/streams from memory.

Hey TouchMint:I probably played the Battle Arena game for like 3-5 hours straight the other day while I was traveling for vacation. Nice work! I just wanted to provide some feedback / suggestions for the next release.Screen Layout: Im assuming youre going to use a similar screen layout for the next release, which involves windows laying on top of one another. If possible, I was wondering if you could make it so that the different screens could be independent of one another...it makes navigating a hell of a lot easier. Its tolerable now, dont get me wrong, but I think itd be a lot easier to learn if things like the map/travel screen, combat screen, and battle selector were separate instead of layered.Button Feedback: Lots of menu buttons, particularly the ones in the player menu that has inventory, crafts, skillbook, etc, seem to have a named button and then an actual button you hit. Would it be possible in the next release to just
  have a single button? For example, when I see crafts button, I can swipe right and then theres another crafts button. The one to the right is the actual button, whereas the one to the left is just a label or placeholder? Im not sure exactly what happened there.Movement: In the current game, you cant actually tell where your character is standing via a label. I just tap different locations until I hear the footstep, and then I know the players location. Would it be possible to have the space where your player is standing labeled? Its not necessary, but it would definitely make learning the game easier for other people who have asked about the movement functionality in the other thread.Mob Health: Sometimes when I kill a mob, the mob next to it just says name of mob dead instead of listing the next mobs HP percentage. I think this has already been reported but I thought Id list it here anyways just in case.This is what immediately comes to mind in terms of accessibility. Please dont take this as a level of harsh criticism or ungratefulness for the changes youve made so far; the game is definitely more playable now than it was previously. Since this is a new game though, I thought maybe some of the structural concepts could be built to be inherently more accessible from its conception.On another note, thanks so much for the first game, its probably one of the most unforgiving turn-based strategy games Ive played for the iphone. It requires a lot more thinking and is definitely not something you can just grind through. Rewards for never dying through an arena, playing multiple characters and item sharing through the vault, and other incentives in-game give this a decent amount of replay value, and Im excited to see what comes next.

Is it safe to assume that we can use _javascript_ audio more generally, now? I tried this... *checks timestamps* 13 days short of a year ago, but it wouldnt work outside Chrome.*Checks* Apparently the Audio object works in Firefox now. And either I forgot how to make keyboard events, or the pre HTML5 version is no longer valid. ... Probably the first one.*Considers modernizing the JFTag... really wants to stop recreating that same game that a whole two people will get*K, lets try HTML5. Worst case is that I still cant finish anything, but thats not a platform problem so much as a quite possibly literally cursed by an Akrasia demon problem. (I whine about that too much. Lets whine about how confusing Aria is instead; thats bound to be more productive.  )

Hello,I do believe in the belief that we dont exist after we die. At all. Does it make my life pointless? absolutely. Whatever I do, unless Im like Einstein, will be forgotten and I will just not be in this world, anywhere. Or in any world. Even if Im like Einstein, someday the humans remembering me will die, and even the half-life I had in their memories, if we hold the belief that you can live on in peoples memories, will end. Assuredly, this is a hard concept to live with-why does my life matter? why do I exist? wouldnt it be better to die today than live a life that will lead to death anyway?I admittedly am still a teenager and havent faced any of lifes problems that people in their later years will. Maybe my beliefs will change then. But until then, I have the capacity to hold on to my beliefs because I have no reason to change my beliefs. I appreciate the fact that you believe in an extra-planar entity. Im sure if I
  was raised in a different environment, I would have too. My parents arent deeply religious so thats why I was free to choose what I was going to believe in, and I dont really believe in anything. Science is the highest candidate, because to my brain it can be understood, it can be proven. Isnt that what humankind wants? belief in an unquestionable, provable, rock-solid faith? So if I would believe in something, my highest candidate would be science.As to god, I cant comment on the existence or non-existence of it. I personally havent gotten any proof of its existence, but who am I to go against a good chunk of humanity who believes in religious texts?Anyways, what I mean to say is I wont be in any religion, but I dont dislike you for holding yours. I will even kindly listen to you if you tell me about the virtues of your religion. But, the choice is mine. According to Christianity I have been given free will, and if 
 I can only go to heaven by following a person who restricts my will or tells me to believe in something, and if I dont it doesnt respect my choice-it sends me to hell, that is really the short end of free will I have gotten. So I apologize, no religion sounds right to me. Science isnt either, I admit that. Science has grown so much that if something cant be proven by science, it doesnt exist. These, at least, have the evidence of their existence. But, as I said, I do not have any proof of gods existence other than the religious texts, and it might be that there were a million religions back then and only a few survived. A one in a million chance, as it were.

At least with chrome and html5, with version 44 of Chrome coming out soon to the stable channel, (its still on the beta channel at this time,) Chromevox should have not many problems with these things hopefully.Cant say with Firefox and NVDA though...

Greetings all.Bladestorm360, Ill keep what you said in mind about the religious people; thanks for that. Nocturnus, I do agree with you about the existence of God. To everyone else, lets hope that there is no solid proof against Gods existence. If there was then my very nature would compel me to reject it out of hand because to accept it would be truly repugnant. I would die of a broken heart and nothing and nobody could ever make me happy again. If that didnt happen then I would most likely turn evil because my very nature is evil. I do state freely that I was never an innocent at any point in my life and especially not as a baby. Ach, the sound seems alot more piercing and in this recording, although the panning effect is still holding.You dont necessarily have to pay for extra sound effects, although I suppose it all depends on what you have in mind. I get all my sounds from free Audio Tools and public domain sources, then mix them around in Audacity. The piercing sound may be the blob of poisonous water near the beginning  (that still stands as a problem, thats multiple objects all making sound at the same time)The problem with sound effects is that every time I attempt to make my own, everybody screams that theyre horrible... (Sol was going to have a completely different set of sound effects before an overhaul at last minute)

Since ive started working on dm 2 again, yes this will be a sequel to project alpha, and since I couldnt get voice chat working properly, would you guys mined if I released the update early so that you guys would have environmental effects, and a few bug fixes that youve been waiting for for a long time, including yes, the dreddid nvda not speaking over menu items bug? Oh and, this next update does allow you to put spaces in not only your character name but your ship name as well.

Im not sure what that is, really. What I know is it speaks whatever comes to your clipboard or something like that. Bladestorm mentioned it in the guide for playing japanese games, but now the link, along with several optional tools he uploaded are all gone. Im not sure if anyone still has it. Im actually just looking for some more flavor while playing BK series.

I like the sound of that for the Rocket Hideout! That should make things fun. When theres a complete region, Ill do another Nuzlocke challenge and record it with Audacity.  Incidentally, I just beat Brock with only a Butterfree. Sleep Powder plus Confusion combo. Mistys going to be a trial, though. Hopefully I get some good catches in MT Moon and the routes on the way to Cerulean. Im not catching duplicates.

Although I dont know how well it did or not, if I recall correctly, Grail to the Thief is on Steam, it can also be purchased through the authors web site as well. I believe he uses PayPal for that. It would be interesting to know what percentage of his sales were through Steam. I wouldnt be surprised if he sells more copies outside of Steam.

Although there may be direct download links on mediafire, I havent found a single one that doesnt also throw a bunch of ads at you at the same time it starts the download.I use free accounts on both dropbox and yousendit, if sendspace is anything like them, its pretty easy to access files hosted there. There are ads to support the free account, but they dont get in the way of accessing the hosted file. And besides, it shouldnt be your responsibility to make his game accessible to all, if the developer really wants everyone to play his game, then its up to him to make sure they can get it. Not you or anyone else.Honestly, if you wanted to play a game and encountered all the problems Ive encountered just trying to download it, how relaxed would you be at the end of it all?There are plenty of other games I can play without all the hassle. I just tried another half a dozen times to download the game and everytime was blocked by an impassible CAPTCHA on the very first mediafire page Im presented with after clicking the download the latest build link on reddit. The CAPTCHA offers an audio puzzle, but so far, all that has ever gotten me was a page full of advertizing that I close, back on the mediafire page, the CAPTCHA is still there but now offering a video puzzle, no audio puzzle was ever palyed.At this point, Ill just have to consider this game as inaccessible due to the mediafire brick wall, and move on.I will now be adding mediafire to my restricted sites list, after this experience, I never want to go near that site ever again.Before I added mediafire to my restricted sites list, I decided to try one more time, finally after fighting with this all night, I got the direct download link and was able to download the zip file. Im still not exactly sure why your having such a major problem here, or why other people have been okay, sinse personally each download Ive had from mediafire has been no trouble, indeed less trouble than Ive seen with some file sharing systems in the past. Oh, and yes, sometimes you do! need to work with developers to get access correct, although Im not convinced myself this is an access problem as opposed to one at your end somehow.here is a sendspace link to download the game, however please dont bight my head off if you have an issue with it, similarly, as I said above, remember that your reading a console window when you run the game. Plus at the moment there is ascii art in some places such as in fights. Its easy enough to avoid, and the developer is working on a no ascii art version along with other changes but that hasnt happened as yet, likewise see my above com

@Gene, you seem to have made up your mind so theres not a lot else to say. My appologies for trying to help.@zseli The problem at the moment with the sound alteration is that when i tried it it changed the hole system volume of windows, not just that of the games playing sound files, thus meaning the balance between Supernova and the sound was the same, I even accidently muted my system when attempting to turn the music and background sfx off. Im not sure f this is a soundcard thing or what, but Ive mentioned it on the reddit. Fortunately, supernovas voice at %100 is loud enough to play over the menu music.

 killing count decreases by one... umm... for example, every six hours. this system solves one more problem. if you are dead, you are dead, you know  and you will have some amound of time you cannt apear in the game again, cause youre dead. in real life you will never rise, thats for sure, so its the middle between playing and realism. you can resurrect and play next, but not right after your death.

Anyway, yes, in real life you are ded for ever, but that would mean creating new char every time, so leave that as it is.but if person wouldnt be able to log on when it is killed, that would help a lot, because even if said person doesnt want to change, he/she cant kill all the time, because s/he cant log on.Anyway, I support this idea and I hope Sam does, too.

Hello. This is my first post in this topic, i want to say a few things. Firstly, Geen: I am using windows 7 and firefox and i can get to the download very easilly, but after the download window pops up then i get an add window, thats true. I can just close that off though. As for the game, i can give you some suggestions. Not just for geen, i mean the whole comunity. To change the volume of sounds and music, press 3 enter 3 enter and it will give you a set of volume options. All the functions are being controlled with the numbers so there is no leters typing envolved. I also found out to get out of the way of the aski text. I use the object review mode in nvda to find the information that i am looking for. I also have a question. How do you get that raveyard thing? Does it paste automatically to your clipboare or something? Because when i die it just says programing and aski text and what ever, then thanks for playing, press a key to continue. A
 nd it doesnt paste anything to my clipboard. Hth, and i hope that i get an answer to this question.

Youre right, the developer himself didnt put those ads there, and maybe he doesnt see a penny for them being shoved in his visitors faces, but he did choose to use mediafire knowing full well those intrusive ads were there. Worried that the game might have inadvertently done something to cause the unexpected restarts, I have since moved it to a sandbox, were any attempts to write to the system will be kept in the sandbox and not affect the host system. At this point Im not sure how far to trust this program, so, better safe than sorry.

Youre right, the developer himself didnt put those ads there, and maybe he doesnt see a penny for them being shoved in his visitors faces, but he did choose to use mediafire knowing full well those intrusive ads were there. Id have found another way to share my file than to subject my visitors to such intrusive advertizing, such as dropbox or yousendit.What happens after I click the link to download the file is, I hear the download start, but before I can access the notification of the download to have it continue, the pages with ads start popping up interrupting the download, yeah, the download was interrupted because when I get back to the original page with the download link, the notification of a started download is gone, and so is the download link. That might be useful later, but was useless now. Ive had to terminate processes before and other than a very occasional loss of that programs data, never had any problems with it, though I still hate to exit an application that way. Worried that the game might have inadvertently done something to cause the unexpected restarts, I have since moved it to a sandbox, were any attempts to write to the system will be kept in the sandbox and not affect the host system. At this point Im not sure how far to trust this program, so, better safe than sorry.There is a new version out (0.74), I just tried half a dozen times to download it and was blocked by
  a survey or a CAPTCHA every time. I give up! This game is not worth the frustration and hassle of just downloading it. I do not believe this game belongs on a web site dedicated to accessible games for blind and visually impaired people because from my experience, just downloading the game does not pass any accessibility standards Im aware of.Sure you all dont seem to have any problems, or you are just ignoring them. But if just one complaining person is having accessibility problems, how many people who dont bother to complain are being turned away. Is ignoring the problem fair to them? To make my small voice heard, I will not patronize or support this developer in any way, nor will I recommend that anyone else patronize or support him until he abandons the very inaccessible mediafire site and finds an accessible alternative to share his game.Im very annoyed, pissed off, and gone!

@Wyvern, thats crazy! nice to know the titan loop is gone, though I will be interested to see what happens to game balance when the towns and mining are fixed.H, Gene Im genuinely confused at all these shenanigans, sinse Ive not had any of these issues at all, indeed I downloaded the latest beta today. Sinse its just you and firefly that are having this problem, (and firefly seems to have got around it), I do wonder if there is something at your end, indeed I did wonder if you were clicking on the right link, however if the direct download link from the mediafire page (as I posted above), wont do, god knows, the Developer uses mediafire because he finds it easiest to upload. Ive suggested dropbox with the issue people are having, though given this issue only seems to occur with a couple of people I do wonder if there is something going on with peoples browser or windows version or whatever that is conflicting with mediafire, or 
 if people are clicking on something wrong on the mediafire page, sinse there are a lot of advertising links it is true and Id imagine clicking on those wouldnt be helpful.The developer is indeed reading this topic, but apparently has had lost password issues and hasnt got around to requesting a new one from the forum as yet, what with him coding like a possessed dire monkey demon for all these dayly updates .As regards the game, it runs in a dos style console window. Im not sure how jaws works with those, you will possibly need the jaws curser. the reason there are no key commands is all instructions are listed on screen, eg to fight hit 1, to run away hit zero The menu meusic is rather loud and there isnt a way to alter thus far without altering the system volume which wont help over all balance, th
 ough music in the game is much quieter. If you cant raise the volume of your voice (I find it okay with supernova set to %100), then just hit 1 for new game and type in the name for your character and hit enter, then the game will begin. there should be an on screen button to close prematurely if you want without needing to use the task manager, though as I said I dont know how Jaws interacts with these sorts of things so someone else might be able to provide more informationn.Hth.Lastly Gene, might I suggest you relax. As you know from working in computing for a long time nothing is perfect. Programs have bugs, websites dont always work, and of course when you add accessibility onto that things get even more crazy, especially when exploring the accessibility of games off the beaten track. Have a good sware, punch the wall, then move on and try to do something about it. I was going to suggest perhaps I could mirror the files on sendspace, as I 
 do have a sendspace pro account and uploading them wouldnt be difficult, but frankly with your attitude Im a little scared to sinse if you had an issue with sendspace I dont want to be at the recieving end of a tirade.

Sorry for the late reply, heh. I can get a general sense of things in this, such as the rapid sound of cliffs and the slower sound of slopes, I didnt hear any sound indicating the position of the enemy before it was destroyed though, and sometimes the combination of terrain sounds could be abit disorienting. Still, Ive checked the recording and listened to it a few times and im definitely getting a much better 3D positional audio effect than before from the left to right. It might help overall readability to put in more supporting sound effects like sounds for the player walking, landing, bumping into things, or tettering on edges to help reinforce the environmental queues.

@magurp244 I have seen the petition for accesssibility to steam and even signed it, however whether anything will come of it I dont know. Same old debate about mainstream companies showing interest in accessibility, namely money and the blind community not having enough of it. Plus as I said, while there certainly are! games on steam that arent fps, Ive heard some pretty nasty reports from developers of games even with retro graphics let alone text. I know choiceofgames run major campaigns each time they try to get one of their titles on steam, including getting all their none steam customers to vote because the majority of the general steam users are so wedded to big 3D graphics and call of duty style fps, god knows what an audiogame would be like there. Of course, I could be proved wrong, and if this petition achieves some good and steam becomes accessible, and lots of audiogames get sold through it that would be amazing, but Im afraid past e
 xperience isnt encouraging me. Myself, I think Crashmasters suggestion of finding a reseller and selling a stand alone version as opposed to going with a specific client like steam is the best Ive heard thus far.

It is pointless for a number of reasons.1. There is a shutdown button right on the start menu.2. And if you need to be able to shutdown from abatch file or a program, as burak noted, there is the Microsoft provided, and safe, shutdown.exe command file that can be used from the command line, a batch file, or called from another program.

Hey Sam. Let me shed some light on why the compass is important. You may think we dont need it all the time and this may be true for some people. But think of it this way. A person is busy building something and once theyre done theyve forgotten which way theyre going. Sure, the sun might work, but maybe, just maybe, they need a compass to know exactly which way theyre facing. A compass would be quite useful especially at night. I also think once people get to rotating and stuff theyll misjudge there direction. So they may think theyre going north but they run south right into the sea. And also, the rotation system does seem a bit off. When something says slightly to the right and you go one degree to the right you should be dead locked onto it. But it just seems off. Just my thoughts.

Regardless of how accessible the client is, I wont buy any game that requires running a distribution client along with the game.In my experience when I did use clients like Steam and Origin, and others. When there was a problem running the game, nine times out of ten, the problem was with the distribution client and not the game.

Im gonna hold off on this one for a little while yet, but it sounds very interesting. Thanks for all the work youre doing, Wastelander. Its appreciated.GeneWarner, dont spit in our ears and then tell us its raining. If you are going to boycott a game or developer, and then are going to turn around and try to get others to do the same, that is an attack. It is an attempt to minimize his ability to grab an audience. Call off all personal desire to play the game, and delete it? Okay fine. Thats your prerogative if youve gone through too much to justify going through even more hassle. But the instant you even hint at getting other people to mount your bandwagon, that constitutes a form of attack.Frankly, you are in the minority here based on the posts Ive read. Others have had issues, but not near the ones you have. This doesnt mean your issues dont exist, but it does mean they might be the exception instead of 
 the rule, which means that trying to convince others to not play the game is doubly fishy since they may not have all the issues you had.Im going to tell you a little story, and then Im going to butt out for awhile. Last week I was on a website I like, and I noticed my computer was getting a little slow. I run it a lot, and sometimes it does this. I restarted it. My hard-drive beeped a couple of times, and then wouldnt boot. After quite awhile and a couple of shutdowns, it finally did boot, and everything was fine. I didnt blame that site I liked though. I blamed the hardware.In your case, you just happened to have Windows throw up an issue after mucking around with a game. It couldnt possibly be because your OS had a hiccup? It couldnt possibly be because your hardware had a hiccup? No. You had to blame the game, even though a game like this is quite literally incapable of screwing with an OS or with hardware enough to cause such an 
 issue. You did it largely because your frustration was already high, and you started jumping at shadows. Again, it constitutes an attack of sorts. Instead of chalking it up to bad luck and/or bad timing, youre suggesting that the developer is even more sketchy than youd already managed by repeated criticisms of his hosting website.This story, and its resultant moral, spell out a simple message. Dont assume. Also, dont attack developers, particularly when said developers are actually doing yeomans work trying to make a game even more accessible for us. Were a small market with a small number of worthwhile games; put bluntly, dont ruin it for the rest of us just because you had a bad time of it.

His first is thread safety.He is correct that the OpenAL API should have been designed so that each method returns an error in order for it to handle thread safety internally.Because it doesnt, you have to handle the thread safety yourself.This is not quite as bad as it seems.First off, for most games, and let me say *all* audio games, your gam
 e loop should stay on a single thread.This makes your life tremendously easier.The one place this is problematic is streaming audio instead of buffering the entire file at once, since youll want a separate thread to ensure those streaming buffers stay full even if your main game loop lags a bit.For this my SoundContext locks a list of open sources whenever you need to add a new source.And it locks again when my separate thread enumerates this list to call tick on each sound.My sound.Tick method either works to fill the empty streaming sound buffers or does nothing if the sound was small enough that I chose to buffer the entire thing when it was first loaded.So I have only 2 threads, my game loop thread and my sound streaming thread.All locking behavior is contained within a single SoundContext class.2. Camlorns second complaint is the lack of callbacks.I havent needed callbacks, and they are a pretty uncommon c

 second, that is once every 16 ms.This has to do with how fast the screen needs to be updated so that your eyes see smooth motion.So sighted games already live happily with less precision than Camlorn is asking for.Id venture the precision you need for updating audio position in 3D space is even less than that required for updating visuals.I think those were the 2 biggest issues in his blog post.Im not saying that OpenALSoft is perfect or easy, but people do use it successfully.And some of the things Camlorn wants out of it are either more extreme than a game needs, or can be solved by doing things in a different way.I hope this information helps others make informed decisions.

@Techmaster20, you are correct on that matter. The issue is this: boot camp is the best method on macs currently to install Windows - unless your mac has too SSDs, at which you can install boot camp and windows on the second drive and leave Mac OS X on the first drive. Boot camp is not as buggy as you think. due to the way windows works, it isnt meant to talk during the install. VMs also slow down a computer considerably because of the RAM allocation - and dont get me started on how you can just allocate 1 GB of RAM to windows - because it requires at least 3 to 4 GB at minimum, leaving your mac only 6 to 5 GB for all the other system components. You could allocate 1 GB to Linux OSes, but definitely not windows - unless you want it to crash because of an out-of-memory error. So, boot camp is the best if your looking for speed. VMs are good, but they are n

I have put the different branches to pyaudiogame up for people to checkout.For all branches you can get a screen by doing:from pyaudiogame import Appmy_app = App()my_app.run()Although note that pandas branch is built for the already built app object rather than the app class. Hay Wastelander, in your next version could you consider changing the main menu and options so all of the letters that make up a word are not spaced out?It would make the menus easier to read.also, a few little things.In my last adventure, I got to level 7, but then something kept sapping all of my EXP so I had to kill my character.I have no idea what that was, and the grave yard file didnt say either.Speaking of the grave yard file, you might want to think about finding a way to set a gender flag so that girls who might play this game arent called he in the ending summory.Also, I found a gamesaves folder with a save in it, but I cant load my save.Any idea when saving/loading will be emplemented?

Hi,I do want to point out, also, that a cumpass would be useful for everyone. Sam, think about it. If you were in the worlds largest desert, and you had all this equipment with you, including water, food, etc., wouldnt you want a compass, too? I dont see how a compass is impossible.Also, a simple way to stop random killing is to have something like alter aeon has, wehre you register for player killing. Sure, its not realistic, but a game cannot be completely realistic to the letter. So, a player would have to register for PK, and the other PKer would have to register as well to make it fair. Theres only one issue for this: if a players hunger is at a critical level, then they can kill freely or risk going insane.

Tehn you have to buy paper for making the maps, so you allways have to take care about enough paper. Maybe each area need different amount of pages. This mapmakerguild can also give you quests for cartograph some special or dangerous areas.Mainpoint is, that you can only travel around if you got maps.OK, i mentioned allready. Sounds for the mining would be very usefull. I think there is a little cooldown after each mining. Hello, Basicly, we had a cumpas before. Remember before sun was added? You could press f and sound would just play where north was, never muving. The best way I can explane it is: cumpas? We had it, so it is nothing new.Also: wach (unles being powerd by sun) wont have power for ever, the same goes for radio. Thats realistic? ...The point Im trying to make isnt remuve this damn radio and wach, but it is right, not everything can be realistic.. And cumpas actually is realistic. If you were going to the wild, would you grab this cumpas or just say my wach is never going to break, I dont need to allways know if Im facing exactly north. I, myself would grab this cumpas (and someone that isnt blind and can use it).P.S.: if this post sounded to harsh, Im sorry.

But you would need the mapmakerskill to make maps of the areas and towns so you can travel back to allready visited towns. Maybe you can bring in an option in your house or in a hotelroom to plan a voyage. For example:After you rent a room for the night you got the following options:1: Sleep2: Plan travelingAfter you chosed 2 you come to a menu where you can select all the towns wich are on your map.After you chosed, you have to leave the town and will normaly have to walk accross all the areas to that other town or dungeon.HAHA, realy sorry! Cackle, the reason I commited the games probable manual suicide command was because over the last few areas I sort of accidently killed a few black blood cultists when pressing 3 for a special attack, which poisoned me horribly, and got Skull rot, Searing SKin Rot, and Brain rot. Oddly enough toughening was chugging through all that, but not my hp regen. So I was slowly dying.. By the time I reached the bomb, I only had about a few hundred hp out o the grand total you saw up there and I thought, why not kick it and see what happens). For al I know the next event could of been a healer or a town with a healer (Or I probably blew both of them up with my suicide0. But eh, I had an interesting run.  Though, not sure how I exactly got 1.7 mill str. Is the giant mutation supposed to multiply current str. I know I got that from the mutation vials a bunch since looter at rank 10 and above (yes I got it that hig
 h out of interest, and then some) loaded a few black vials within mutation loads, but I though tit was a fixed added amount. Though on another point, I did get the confusion event happen a bunch of times, swapping agiity and str so theres that to consider. Though I wonder how things would of been weird if I had 1.7 mill intelligence.   Also on the note of money, cash seems to be easy to get once looter gets up to a reasonable (or unreasonable) amount as scrap metal tends to load in the 10s of thousands, or even the hundred of thousands. And they sell for $1 each. Though, I think there might be a bug on how it loads. At around rank 10 o looter, I got nearly 258000 metal from the metal events to load, but when I shifted that up higher, I actualy decreased to around 155k, and wouldnt budge from there. Also as nice as having that much metal load, I dont think thats normal <

Im unfortunately moving in three weeks, and between the new job and other planned things Im probably not going to get back to Stellar Aeon for a couple of months. Its currently in limited test mode - pretty much the only things you can do are fly around, mine asteroids, upgrade your ship, and find bugs. Its not really a game yet. When I have time to work on it, things go fairly fast, so Im expecting official open by year end.

Ah Ironcross, I do see your point, but at least with the current implemented way of telling direction its pretty much impossible to know.I agree with post 33. And if you think about it, there are quite a few elements of stw that are not real in the first place:1. you can cary 500 pots of water in your inventory.2. you can cary around a boat.3. you chop down trees with a knife.4. Theres an ocean, a stream, a grasssland, and a desert all in walking distance of each other. Are all these bad? No, but they prove that a game cant be entirely realistic.

Hey to all!Some of us were playing this TheWastes over the last days.And now i am very curious if there are some other more accessible asciigames.I also tryed that WarSim of the same developer. But i am not sure if the game is full of bugs or if i am to stupid to check the controls and rules.So, is there any other stuff i should try?

I respect you, Sam for trying to make this work without a compass, because. I do think the north star idea is worth exploring. The moss thing is cool, but not all trees grow moss on them. Also I like the landmark idea too. I think the beeping would fix the items thing because say its slightly off to the left, but you got all the way there, and side stepped once to the left, you dont always get it, then you have to back up and turn by one degree and keep checking and keep turning and keep checking until it says its straight in front of you, and that takes time.

I do not know of all the different muds with soundpacks. Have you tried using the soundpacks command in miriani? How about checking the message boards? Oh yes, clients, vipmud is a good beginners client. Some like using mush, and there is or was the monkey turm client that is or was used. I hope this helps. I guess I could do a recording of setting up an account on miriani, but that is most surely not my favorite space based mud. The last time I played it, there was to some degree some trolling and the like going on when I left. It may have changed sense then and as far as I can tell, that is more than you wanted, but if I do a recording, it will most likely be a little bias because of that factor. PSNow, please dont band me dark?

Im trying to complete the tutorial, but Im having issues with the duggle kombos. I can knock him up in the air by pressing up and a front punch and I can also use a back kick before he lands again. But I dont see how I should make a jumping front punch, back kick, jumping back punch before he lands. Any tips?This tutorial is really frustrating me, since I need to complete that to unlock the story mode.

@FireflyAh yes, thats a nice idea actually, through that you could sort out travelling back to a nearby town, maybe it takes 10 areas so in 10 areas you arrive back in the other town (good for trading)Fight pits are going to be extended too, some may allow you to fight in them, some may not, some will be slave pits and some will in future have men fighting men, I am hoping to expand it in future with non-lethal fights between fighters like I did in warsim, in warsim you can find a place called a brawl pit (which you can own) inside two men will fight until one loses all health, if he goes too far into negative health (ie on 1hp gets punch for 20hp damage then they will die which is bad and costs the arena compensation money plus they are one less fighter)@Spiraling Wyvern In a way Im glad that big huge characters like that can be defeated past a certain level, though I plan to add more harsh things in the future to ensure it still stays challenging

Well watches can stay powered up if theyre kinetic, they sort of wind up themselves by the movement of the wearer, but point taken. As I said before, theres a lot to juggle in a great game. There are also survival knives that have magnesium strips inside, like the pommul is unscrewable. Well magnesium burns hot as hell, so all you gotta do is lay down the strip and strike the back of the blade against it and whoof, better than a spark from flint Also yeah, I agree, while chopping down a tree with a knife is theoretically possible, its not likely to ever happen, it would take forever, we need a hatchet or something.
