@zuckuss Normally I'd object to getting someone else's key as that is considered cracking, but I think this is an exception since the game has already been bought. It’s ridiculous that he’d charge $40 for a game with little replay value, and another key costs you an extra 40.

Aww man! Looks like I'll have to try harder next time. And yes indeed, we did have gamma testing for the life emulator. Let me clarify though, we were testing out our new gamma ray on someone, and it worked. That person no longer exists. Thank you for being the best gamma tester we ever had, you will be missed.

I believe having two forums is a great idea. As stated before, this is just like having multiple social networks. I don't believe that anyone who makes another forum is power hungry just for making another forum as some people have implied on this topic, it's someone trying to make a community of their own to see if they'd be able to do it and maybe even do it better. Plus, in light of recent events some well-standing community members and developers have left the scene and stated that they will not be making a return, so we need to give them something other than this forum to fall back on.@ivan_soto Why do you have to stomp all over a project, regardless of who makes it. We will also be adding other things that we originally thought impossible to do. We are now opening the door for custom weapon and item support, so if you want to send us those kind of sounds you can. Please make sure you have the rights to these sounds, we don't want to include stolen sounds in this project. You can also have more than one kind of the same sound. I guess you might be able to call me a kid, I'm 18 and I can do a lot of things now because of that but I guess my brain hasn't developed as much as it will, and won't until I'm 25 or whatever age they say that is. I personally like online games, or rather, liked online games. Regardless of strategy which Conner pointed out, (BTW that is a good point,) there's still a level of mindlessness to these games. Sure, in Crazy Party you do have to think a little bit when trying to pick a card, but it's not like some of these games that people want to see like city simulators and stuff like that. Me personally, I like to have games where you're not having to think a lot, because after all that is what games are for right? Now, I'm not saying I won't play games like that every once in a great while because I will, but generally I just like to play stuff mindlessly. I haven't gotten into online games recently, mainly because I can't find any good ones anymore. Keep in mind that this is all just my opinion, feel free to disagree if you'd like.

No, the game isn't really centered on combat. I'd say it's centered more around the story and exploration. As stated in the review though, there are over 20 side characters to talk to with their own story in one way or another. Combat is just one of the factors that play into this game. I can't say much on the subject without giving spoilers, all I can say is you definitely won't be disappointed if you buy the game, and I strongly recommend it.

Based on the description I gave it doesn't look like much, but it's a lot more than how I've described it so far. The game is a little over a gig in size, and most of it has to do with the overwhelming amount of story dialogue. As you might be able to guess, the story is fully voice acted. I believe the project razed over $1 on Kickstarter, and the names of the supporters are all listed in the credits at the end of the game. I'd prefer to have other people record falling sounds though, because it would just sound weird if you didn't. You'd record a behemoth monster and if he fell down a pit or whatever he'd have a human scream, which wouldn't make sense.

Hello guys...For anyone who's new to the audio gaming community and doesn't know what Battle Zone is, I'll explain a little bit.In 2011, Philip released a game engine known as BGT, and his goal for making it was to allow people to code audio games easier without the hassle of having to hunt down a bunch of libraries to make it happen. Throughout BGT's development, Carlos Macintosh, affectionately known as Keywasfull, began work on his new title, Battle Zone. At first this was just a simple side scroller, but it quickly evolved into a huge game that gained wide spread recognition among hundreds if not thousands of blind people in the audio gaming community. Interesting fact, it was also one of three games that gained a tun of reputation at the Governor Morhead school for the blind in Raleigh, North Carolina. The other two were Descent into Madness and The Last Crusade. Eventually, Carlos dropped support for the game some time in 2017, 7 years after the game was developed.Now, I know what you're thinking. "What the hell does this have to do with you. You're just some random guy who posts a lot of stuff on the forum." So, bare with me just a minute while I explain myself.I'm a high school student in North Carolina, and I am a major geek. I will tinker and screw around with just about anything I can get my hands on, which explains why I've broken a lot of things in the past and got into trouble a few times. Just a month or maybe two ago, I was messaging my friend Jack and I said, "You know, Battle Zone was a great game, but Key isn't supporting it any more, and he recently open sourced it, so lets do something with it." So we went to his website and tried to get the game. Unfortunately, we got a 404 error when trying to download it. I talked to him and it seems that he no longer has the latest version of the source , so he gave us the source for version 13.1 which is close enough. I asked him just to clarify if I could do what I want with it as long as he's credited as the original developer, and he said yes. So, off to work we went. Originally we wanted to complete the version that already exists by adding the third boss to it, and then making it bigger. Jack said he wanted to hold off the third boss for now. So I asked Key if I could append the name pro to the end of it, and he said yes again. He also stated that he was pretty much done with the project.So with that, it was called Battle Zone Pro. Now, here's a little tidbit about me. I am extremely ambitious and have really huge ideas for what I want to do with something. Because of this, I wanted to make Battle Zone a platforming game. Jack quickly talked me out of this, informing me that this game, being a hack-n-slash at its core, was never intended to be that way. Now, my new idea is to make it like bzr, with the same story elements and everything that made the original Battle Zone so great. So, that's our story. Lastly, I'd like to tell you how all of you can play into this.One of our goals for BZP is to use sounds that we have the rights to instead of stolen sounds. So far we're doing a good job with that, but one thing that makes it more difficult are the enemies. Our idea is, if we can get people to make enough enemy sounds for us, then it'll make our job easier. That's where you guys come in. We don't have a planned release date for this revamp, so there are no time constraints. All you guys have to do is submit your voice clips here in this topic, or send them to me via email or pm. Here's the list of sounds that we need for the enemies. We need at least one of each, but you can have more if you want.Death soundFalling down a pit soundLight pain grunt.Heavy pain grunt.Swing grunt sound, i.e., when the enemy swings a Millay weapon.TauntYou can record them however you want. If you want to send a single file with all the clips you can do that, or you can send them in a zip. You also don't have to make it human, if you want to make it a chipmunk on steroids or a behemoth with sunglasses, you can do that. So, bare with me just a minute while I explain myself.I'm a high school student in North Carolina, and I am a major geek. I will tinker and screw around with just about anything I can get my hands on, which explains why I've broken a lot of things in the past and got into trouble a few times. Just a month or maybe two ago, I was messaging my friend Jack and I said, "You know, Battle Zone was a great game, but Key isn't supporting it any more, and he recently open sourced it, so lets do something with it." So we went to his website and tried to get the game. Unfortunately, we got a 404 error when trying to download it. I talked to him and it seems that he no longer has the latest version of the source , so he gave us the source for version 13.1 which is close enough. I asked him just to clarify if I could do what I want with it as long as he's credited as the original developer, and he said yes. So, off to work we went. Originally we wanted to complete the version that already exists by adding the third boss to it, and then making it bigger. Jack said he wanted to hold off the third boss for now. So I asked Key if I could append the name pro to the end of it, and he said yes again. He also stated that he was pretty much done with the project.So with that, it was called Battle Zone Pro. Now, here's a little tidbit about me. I am extremely ambitious and have really huge ideas for what I want to do with something. Because of this, I wanted to make Battle Zone a platforming game. Jack quickly talked me out of this, informing me that this game, being a hack-n-slash at its core, was never intended to be that way. Now, my new idea is to make it like bzr, with the same story elements and everything that made the original Battle Zone so great. So, that's our story. Lastly, I'd like to tell you how all of you can play into this.One of our goals for BZP is to use sounds that we have the rights to instead of stolen sounds. So far we're doing a good job with that, but one thing that makes it more difficult are the enemies. Our idea is, if we can get people to make enough enemy sounds for us, then it'll make our job easier. That's where you guys come in. We don't have a planned release date for this revamp, so there are no time constraints. All you guys have to do is submit your voice clips here in this topic, or send them to me via email or pm. Here's the list of sounds that we need for the enemies. We need at least one of each, but you can have more if you want.Death soundFalling down a pit soundLight pain grunt.Heavy pain grunt.Swing grunt sound, i.e., when the enemy swings a Millay weapon.You can record them however you want. If you want to send a single file with all the clips you can do that, or you can send them in a zip. You also don't have to make it human, if you want to make it a chipmunk on steroids or a behemoth with sunglasses, you can do that. All we ask is that you don't steal sounds from anyone else, and try to use a mic that doesn't have tuns of background noise or buzzing or anything like that.Thank you to anyone who decided to sit through this post. Plus, I could play whatever I wanted for as long as I wanted. It seems like he's offering this just to make money. I don't care to much about his track record as I haven't bought his games anyway.

OK, this is strange. I ran the check up program and clicked register missing files. It closes out without any sort of dialogue, and DXKEY.dll didn't register. I tried going in and registering it manually by running CMD in admin and going to the path the file was in, and it gave me an error saying the file didn't exist, even though I checked and it's definitely there. What do I do now?

Hi...So, I'm sure your all used to seeing that OCX error. I tried to install WMAAudioRedist, but when I launch the program, it doesn't even pop up a dialogue, it does absolutely nothing. I even tried running it in admin mode. Does it not work in Windows 10, or am I doing something wrong?

Hello...In case anyone's wondering what I'm talking about, Sammy Says is or was a program where you could make books with sound. Basically, you can insert sounds or record them, and you could add effects to the sounds like speed them up or slow them down. There were also settings for teachers to alter in case the program was being used in a school setting. This might be my childhood talking, but I thought it was a really cool app. Can someone upload it if it still exists? Although honestly, I wonder if it ever existed or if this is some strange memory lapse or something. I doubt it though, I remember it way to well for it to seem fake.

Here's how I see it. It tells you you can't do M rated games, and you have to pay for a certain amount of time. Why should I pay for a limited service that I could easily get for free from my own home or from friends online. I could just go to my Dad and have him help me with a game and I don't have to pay him a cent. Plus, I would be able to play almost any game I want, of course excluding X rated games. I would understand setting X rated games as the limit, but M? Seriously?

I have an idea that's simple and huge at the same time. I'd like to see a Mario Cart type game. If anyone doesn't know about Mario Cart, it's a racing game, but you have a lot more than just curbs to deal with and possibly animals to avoid hitting depending on the game. @9 I see where you're coming from on the centralized server thing, but I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree. Lets say that I want to play the game with a friend, but I don't have the choice of making my own server. Next thing you know, some guy named averagejoe420 is shooting me with a rocket launcher and taking crates and stuff like that, and I don't get a chance to fight my friend because I'm having to give averagejoe420 my attention. We already have tuns of games that all have centralized servers, Red spot and The Killer to name 2 out of the dozen or so that probably exist. Although, I maybe exaggerating a bit as I do confess I'm falling asleep as I right this post.

I think you should have both a main server and a private server. You wouldn't be forced to make your own to play if you don't have the means to make it, and at the same time if you want to play by your own rules you can. I like to play by my own rules, I don't like being moderated by another person or team.

Exactly, we didn't say every game, we said most. Pay attention to our posts and maybe you'll see that. Even the games it does work with require tampering with Jaws to get it to work, so technically it doesn't work with the games it supposedly does work with. Although in AHC you can use w a s and d to move around, so you could use Jaws with it.

When it comes to screen reader discussion I think that your better off staying out of the conversation, it always turns nasty when you post your opinions. Also, just for the record, you make Jaws users look bad. I'm not just saying that because I use NVDA, if I used Jaws I'd say the same Because it's true.

I'll tell you what though. I will be doing an interview with Out Of Sight Games for the radio show assuming they're still feeling up to it. Once my paycheck from my other job comes in and with Joseph and Ian's permission, I will purchase 5 accounts and give them out to the first 5 people who post and can't afford the game. Why Must People Crack Games

Hello...I have a question which I don't think can be answered, but I was wondering, why do people crack games. I saw a tweet where someone asked a beta tester of A Hero's Call for a crack, and that's why I decided to start this topic. To people who ask for cracks of things, why don't you ask someone to buy it for you if you absolutely can't. Cracking games or asking for cracks is the equivalent of saying, "fuck the developer, I don't care about them whatsoever," and that's wrong. The game isn't even that expensive, it's 20 bucks. I used to be a cracker myself, but I have learned from my mistakes. If I think something is worth paying for and I feel that the developer needs support, I will support them, *cough* (hollywood edge is not 1 of them because their sounds are not worth $1.) Having said that, even if I don't support a dev, I absolutely will not go around posting cracks of their software or sounds or whatever they're doing. So, if anyone wants A Hero's Call but don't have the money to buy it, at least ask someone for it. The worst thing they could say is no, but cracking things will destroy your reputation.

@Nocturnus If someone could integrate text to speech somehow, you could code a network that can show emotion. I'm not sure how well that would work, but in theory it's possible. It would also give you the advantage of choosing what you want your cat's name to be. Personally, I'd like to have a full on  pet simulator, i.e, dog, cat, parrot, goldfish... you get the picture.

@Dark Usually moderation warnings get me to flinch. Not sure why that is but whatever. If I see someone say moderation towards me it causes me to flip out for a second or flinch or something of that nature. I think I have gotten warnings a couple times for saying stupid things, hopefully I haven't said something stupid to many times. I don't know why people can't just listen to the mods when they give orders and leave it at that, instead of going, "oh your rules are stupid, I hate you, etc etc etc." I would like to see more of those people apologizing for their actions, but I don't think that's gonna happen any time. Although, if someone can't spell banned right I don't think much about their insults anyways. Sorry if my post is all over the place, I just woke up and I'm a bit tired.

I'm Working On A Gamebook Based Off Of An AAC Stage

Hello everyone...Me and Jack are working on a gamebook based off of Chris's AAC stage, Macintosh Attack. Lord Alex is trying to reformat Windows XP and replace it with Mac OS 10, and your job is to stop him from doing such dastardly things. I asked Chris if we could do this and he gave us the go ahead. I wanted to right this gamebook because it will allow us to go to greater lengths then we ever could have using the AAC stage builder, and it gives me a great way to start righting gamebooks.  We also hope to allow people to choose who they want to play as, Alex or Sam. There isn't a release date planned, but I thought I'd come on here and announce it. Keep an eye out on the new releases room from time to time to see when we publish this title. If you have questions, just ask.

I agree. This is the point I brought up to a friend last year. He's not updating it, and he's barely supporting it, and as of now he's not at all. Why does he continue to keep it paid if he can't be bothered to give full accounts to people who pay. This is what drives me nuts about devs sometimes. I bought Super Liam a few years ago and never got a key. Now Liam made the game free because he knew he wouldn't be supporting it anymore. Why can't Jason do the same. Of course, I bought the game and got my account, so I'm not to concerned, but still.

One question I have is, what did you mean it was unusual to have German voice prompts with English voice actors? If you only have English actors, how would you make a German version? I'm confused. Also, it wouldn't be difficult to make the TTS prompts in German.

That being said though, my opinion still stands about Google employees being untrustworthy.@Dentin If my post provided the oil for a flame war, then post 86 provided the lighter. I would strongly advise not posting to this topic anymore. I get that you're trying to stand up for your position, but you're only succeeding in making people decide against playing your game, because they'll be afraid of asking questions or doing anything that might get them banned. There were also some autopilot improvements, for example, it doesn't keep running past the blades blindly and waits for them to turn off before running past them. @Post10 Bravely excepted the consequences of every action is an achievement you get for playing the game in hard mode, which you can access by pressing shift enter on the start game option. Basically you can't save your game, if you try it just saves and returns you to the menu. Once you reload, the save is deleted.

@Post 2 Playing the game and beating it with a goblin is a good way to get points. There's other methods of getting a high score as well.Play without allocating any skill points.Don't choose a secondary job.Kill every enemy on all the floors.Explore each floor in it's entirety.

There is no screen reader on the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo doesn't care enough to do anything for blind people. Honestly I don't know why people don't do whatever they did to Microsoft to get them to add Narrator into Windows 2000, but it's probably a complicated process.

Also Sam, you do make mistakes, and the only way you can learn from them is consequences. People will probably stop playing for a bit. I understand that probably makes you feel terrible, but let me put it to you this way. I used to stream games under the name Code Green all the time, and I spent most of my time trying to mimic PG13, thinking that was the only way people would listen. After a while though, people got tired of me and stopped listening. Now, no matter what I try, I can't get anyone to listen to me, and probably never will again. Does it upset me? Sure, but did I learn from it? Yes. Unfortunately, as much as it sucks, people will hate you and hold age against you. But when that happens, just ignore it, because replying to it will just fuel it more. To those of you who don't like his games, as I said previously, don't say things like, "Oh he's a kid, kids are immature." Just stop playing, or say something more constructive.

In my own personal opinion, why don't a lot of online games follow in the footsteps of RTR and allow people to host their own servers? That way, if someone doesn't like the main server but still likes the game, they can just make their own server.

I agree, Sam really needs to get rid of that. I've had that happen to me multiple times, it's ridiculous that he feels that he needs to cause pain to people, even if they do actually cheat. It's completely unnecessary, and I'm surprised a topic hasn't been made about this already.

I'm probably going to get minimal backlash for what I'm about to say, but I'll say it anyways. I believe there are a lot of games that have admins like this, (especially in Muds), because they're so power hungry that they look for any excuse in the book to abuse said powers whenever they feel it's necessary. When I was 12 years old, I used to play a Mud called Valhalla, based on some medieval viking story or something to that extent. Because I was a child, I got on a lot of player's nerves. An admin found out about it and told me that I wasn't old enough to play the game, even though it clearly stated in the newbie section that this was a family oriented game and children would be playing it. I ended up getting banned mainly on that argument. This is just 1 of many examples that are probably out there for admins completely abusing their powers and bending rules to their liking because they feel like it. If an admin is like that, just stop playing
 , that's what I did.

@Post3 I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Bavisoft have been gone for a while now, and if they did try to file a lawsuit against us, they'd lose. Not only would the Cort justify this as a scam sense people have paid for their stuff and got nothing, but my family makes more in a month than these people have in the past 7 years, so they'd be guaranteed to lose even if they were in the right, simply because they don't have enough money.

The links don't work because they're bitcasa links, and bitcasa was made unavailable for the average consumer because they now only support businesses. Stupid, I know. If we knew what people used to rip the pack file from the exes, then we'd be able to do it our selves.
