Moderation! Okay this hole business is getting waay beyond a joke. The ultrapower situation began because Mason had code stolen and asked the mods to help with issues of clones. The problem is since then there have been so many possible clones, possibly not clones, modifications and other permutations that the situation has got waay beyond anyone's ability to prove or to follow. Right now the only person I would believe proof from about any of this is Mason himself since he was the one  who stated code was stolen in the first place.And no, ability to crash a server is not proof that code has been stolen, it is proof that the person crashing the server is a vandal. I am not going to try and go through back logs of code or lots of clones of beyond the bullit or god knows what determine who does what, much less try and sorted the convoluted and frankly childish mess this topic has become, which is probably good for a lot of people here since otherwise I would be handing out warnings, bans or worse since my god! this situation has got offensive. In the end we need to make a decision about this. We are not copyright lawyers or high priced cyber investigators, we are people who like games  try to actually make this community a decent place (something which I confess many people in this topic are making severely difficult!). In the end we have to decide what is good for the community and in the end we have people developing an audiogame! which, (unlike apparently many of these abortive ultrapower clone projects, is still being worked on and added to, and stil being played and enjoyed by many people. So, this topic will be closed! because frankly the situation has got insane! if however the developers of desafio mortal wish to start a new topic in new releases to discuss the game legitimately that would be fair enough. If such a new topic is started, then any accusations of cloned code or personal insults will not be tolerated and those making such accusations will receive warnings or worse. The only exception to this rule is Mason, since as originator of the code and the one who actually asked that stolen code be changed he is the only person at this point  legitimately could provide proof that any game has used said code, in which case a private discussion will be had with the developers of desafio mortal, and Mason. So failing word from Mason, accusations of stolen code please stop here! as in fact does this topic!I apologize if this seems high handed, but frankly this hole situation is ridiculous and is causing way more tocxic crap than its worth, and I think we need an end of it.

why do people like you ivan even keep fanning the shitstorm around this game? You do realize that there are a great number of games you could play, or as a matter of fact code, in all the time you spend trying to downtalk dm. To me, it looks like you're just sad that people actually like the game after rebuking btb, and now you're jealous and want it gone. Well too bad, I'm pretty sure its here to stay. AS people have said, if mason didn't want up to be leaked, if you didn't want btb to be leaked, well guess what? You could have prevented it. You could have actually thought about who you gave the code to, refused to give it to people you knew would share it around even if they were your friends, but you didn't. Now, at least partially, this mess is on your hands. Since you don't care about btb anymore, you might as well let it go. Dm also can't really surve as a bad example, the simple reason for this being that firstly the ultrapower source to my knowledge isn't freely available, you have to find someone who will share it with you. Second, no, people can't just keep taking ultrapower, adding some items and call it a new game. Do you know why? Because people will get tired of side scroling shooters, as I am, and just won't play those games taken from the ultrapower code. Dm is a one-time thing, and the reason it works so well is because they keep working on it and changing it from the mess of a game it used to be. Stw's code will probably never get leaked in the way ultrapower code was, because from what I know sam is a lot more careful about things like this than mason and doesn't hand his code off to any and all of his friends he sees fit to give it to. Now, if you don't like dm, fine, you don't have to like it, but for the love of beer, leave those who do want to play it in peace. Its not like they will force you to play it, so why do you have to be the typical internet troll and try to take it from them? Oh actually, don't answer that. This might sound harsh, but in fact, you've always been like that. Through the years I've seen you on the forum and in this community you've done nothing but hack things, crash servers, and cause drama. I'm sorry to say this but, the apoligies you've made in the past won't suffice. Actions speak louder than words and if you want to show how mature you actually are you could just let the matter drop.

[[wow]], these people start to insult like you stole their lives and not their code which I will repeat 50 times, it is not stolen, you gave it away yourself because you did not protect it, end of story. Why don't we have STW clones if stealing the code is so easy and any dev can just do it? Why don't other games get cloned like that? And to compare with your STW example Ivan, that simply wont happen just because of one reason. STW code is not based on something else like BTB. Imagine this situation. X game gets released. X game is based on STW and it is clearly a clone and gets removed from the forum. Y game gets released being based on both x's game code and stw code. The developer complains that x's game code is stolen and does not want it. Does that make sense? No it does not. If all code was indeed yours and you actually did spend your time fully coding BTB and it had no code from other people, then sure you have all rights to complain. But for now, you might as well do some research since you said desafio was Aaron's favorite game and he clearly said in previous posts he could not run it. Favorite games which you cannot even run are very good. My favorite one from now is Garret's life simulator.

Hello everyone,I think that the developer is trying to remove this game from this forum because he had enough of the shit which people are doing with his game and server. I have played other games with the server functionality and they often use same commands to do the things. This is not enough to prove that this application is a clone or what so ever. I hadn't played BTB or UP so I can't comment on them, but let it continue for us, for blinds. If a quite good proof happens to come, then please share with us. But remember to not use your abusive language because it is not going to help you. Well, I hope that this game will be playable after you delt with it. Hope for good.

We are people who help the others in smaller things, kind of minor things than what an admin can do.The point is, I'm giving this message in the name of Desafio Mortal's team:Our only mistake was not to have given credits to BTB creators', which was posted in a BTCync folder.If I remember well, there was at some time a post where utilizing the game was allowed. If that's not true, my apologies.Ivan was a coward by getting in touch with us saying that he wanted to help the team and then doing what he did. .He allowed us to use the msound class from him, and I bet that if something happens  he'll say that's not true.Also, all the code was modified because it was a crap. So from what I understand, if I go steal STW's code or any other game, I can add to it, change so much and it'll all be good? not an admin, but some people have started to insult, and call others names. maybe it's just me. so how did you guys try out these commands without being an admin? I should give the thing another go, but when I played with it a few weeks back, I gathered in less than an hour, that it's still a clone. it's built on top of ultra power, or  BTB, I don't have enough coding knowledge to be sure. I actually left it for other reasons, but it seems as if it's time to dive into it again.

Well mister smart ass, you said it yourself, you’ve never played up or BTB. I have played DM, thank you very much. And from what i’ve seen, the only real difference is maps, along with a few other miner features like clocks, the hole first / hunger thing, and a few new weapons and items.Sure, it has more than BTB ever had. I’m not denighing that. My point here, is that it’s using code from both up and btb, which is inexcusable, no matter how you look at it. but hey, it’s fun, and it can’t be a clone because it has features x, y, and z, so who gives a fuck about the origin of the code. I’m having fun, that’s all that matters.It’s this kind of selfish atatude that will deter devs from actually making games themselves. They’ll look at topic’s like this and think hey, these guys are getting away with it, i’ll just grab the up or BTB source, add a few features, change sounds, and boom. Check out this brand new game.You want a game with realism? Go play stw. It’s a lot more legal, and while the dev’s maturity is questionable, he bearly ever plays, and the admins are quite nice and helpful, so it’s managed quite well for the most part.

@Arron.Yes, BTB was indeed made from ultrapower code, however the point i’m trying to make is, ivan and Colton changed way more than just sounds. He added mines, teleporters, stars, the beginnings of a robot class, the titlecheck thing which was never used  still, he sort of tryed and failed to add timebombs, a proper jailing system, i’m looking through the BTB code as I say all this. Point is, those things never hit up. So yes, quite a bit of BTB, was actually Ivan’s code, and since Ivan never gave the DM devs per mition to use that code, this game shouldn’t be allowed here.

And yet, it seems, initial versions of Btb were also built upon Ultrapower, so, where do you think that both of these stand? Both are building on each other's code if this is really the case.As it stands I do not honestly know what to do, with any of it. As a mod this drama is just ridiculous. It's so wide reaching because, unlike, say, cosmos, this is an actual audiogame, something this very site is built upon.@Ivan I know you are trying to help, and I very much appreciate it. But why even bother clearing the server, possibly slightly sabotaging the game in the process, clone or not? Couldn't there be slightly less aggressive ways of gaining proof? What makes this whole thing so ridiculous is, in both cases, we are talking about initially leaked code to begin with, for both games!

People don't seem to get that this game cannot be called a clone and it is called so just to get it in an even worse position. A clone is an exact copy of something, and only people who did not spend time playing this game will actually tell you this is a clone. The only matter of why this topic might be closed is the code on which this game is based, or the drama that arised behind this.

@nidza07,  it seems like you have a bone to pick with Ivan.  Throughout your posts you kept bringing up him stealing code,  kept reminding him that he also clone something, etc.  I get it, stealing code is bad. It doesn't mean that you have to shove it in someone's face every time they post on the forum, though.  I think we have established it that once again, this game is a clone of another one. all Ivan needs to Barry  it even deeper, is a recording of   Him creating a new account and coming online, doing all the ultra power commands on the server, providing Skype messages, etc.  him creating a new account will ensure that the commands work without the admin rights.  To folks who say that we don't need to kill a game just because it's a clone, keep saying it and see what happens. People would start releasing clones on regular basis.  Right, I'm done.

If he saved it properly, nobody would use it in the first place. Your post except that comment makes no sense as you just talked about 2016 in which time if you forgot the topic was very well closed and the game was no longer discussed until now. Regarding you Ivan, perhaps by accident or intentionally, you missed post 118? I would not be even surprised if that happened to be the case.

Oh and let me remind you, that when the game was first released in 2016, it had the same packet key as BTB, btb.dev.22 I think. Also /123 to restart NVDA on the hosters machine returned can’t do that if you weren’t an admin, it even has some of the same titles as btb, see titlecheck.bgt. Oh, and let’s not forget how if you tryed making a char called masonasons, or used mason’s old email address the client died.Wish I could get the dam thing to open, I could give you guys even more proof that it’s a complete and utter ultrapower clone.As for ivan’s motives, might I remind you that a big chunk of BTB was his code? Colton was even the developer of up at one point.As ivan already stated in another topic, he’s pissed because they’re using his code and not even giving him proper credit for it.

Yes Ivan you guessed it right. My favorite game is being exposed. and now I will cry. How is it exactly being exposed? ? By a bunch of immature people trying random commands and guessing things? The game has been available for a long time even outside of this forum, and it wont be killed no matter how hard you try, but with that message I think you have clearly shown your motives. Nothing about preventing stealing code and being good police, you just want the game down probably because they did not accept you as admin.

I can't see why people wants to close this topic. What we will get after alot of messages? The topic will be closed, and nothing else will change. Don't think because they will close this thread people will stop playing or developing said game. Personally I never played UP or whatever other clones people just released, but I think this drama is just boring every time it gets any kind of attention. Try to protect sources in a better way before complaining when people will make clones.

What does DM have that BTB doesn’t? Nothing.@connor, the difference here is that Ivan lernt from his mistakes. These guys haven’t stopped, and probably never will.What’s worse is they’re denighing it, even making false claims that they’ve rewritten it when they clearly haven’t, ivan proved that much, and I logged on the other day on my other PC, and /clearserver does indeed work.If i can get it working on this box, i’ll try some more BTB / up commands to see if they work.

So it went back to what I was talking about a few days ago, how people were sending me messages begging for the sourcecode. At this point does that even matter? I was able to use a lot of the admin btb commands I wrote, and I was also able to clear the entire server because I new the command, was not documented ever. I don't think they know some of these commands even exist, beause they never coded this themselves.

No luck.I actually agree with Ivan in that the few times I played it reminded me very much of BTB. The planes and shit people were talking about, come on, those are just slightly advanced doors.I think it would be helpful if someone could host a BTB server so that those who had never played it could realise just how much of a clone it really is.

For some reason the game won’t run, it just plays the door close sound and nothing. I don’t have cheat engine installed so not sure what’s going on. It worked fine for me before. Anyone know what i can do?

HiLet me state my point of view here. First, I don't think that this game is an UP clone, or atleast in its concept. When it comes to gameplay, it's far from being it a clone, but when it comes to the code's infrastructure I'm not sure, I stand here neutral. You would ask me why? Because sometimes I doubt it. What makes it have the same issue UP and BTB were having, which is you won't be able to jump while running left? Unless they have borrowed some code from UP, which as stated above I'm not sure. Either way, I don't think that this topic should be closed, and I hope they'll continue their development and improvement of the game, they're really wonderful and I liked the game frankly. What attracted me to playing this game is as well as its great concept and the depth of its gameplay, also the good and kindness of the players and admins and their awesome treatment. I wish them good luck in this game, and I will continue to play and support as long as this hard work continues.

To the person who asked about them not converting to a 3d map engine, I can tell you exactly why. They can't do it. They're stuck using maps from UP, how doI know? They send me messages at least every week to ask me or try to get me to send them my tk code. If they're so good at rewriting code like the admins say they are, why not just rewrite the map engine and do it yourself?

HI,Did anyone see my previous posts in this topic at all? I am aware of what decisions have been made in the past, but those are in the past. Those are when it spiraled. I'd argue it's not spiraling and that it was more a case of emergency. As it currently stands, we do not have full on proof if the newer version still has stolen code, or, as we no doubt all hope, the code has been changed and it's just using similar concepts. While I could very easily just close this topic down and be done, what happens if we then learn that the game had indeed, been changed and is no longer using code? What will that say for new devs? That, if anything has an inkling of concepts similar to anything from before, it could be shut down? I don't think so! If we don't have any new proof, then what do you expect, when I've also been looking for that proof myself and can't find it?To those comparing stolen code to piracy... I've spoken to a developer who I'd argue is extremely experienced, and one of the only people I'd trust on this subject, and we are talking about a much, much more complex issue. Piracy is very clear cut. Stolen code is not, and while it's certainly not accepted, we can't just close a topic because it seems so similar to a previous work just becasue it uses the same sounds or camera system, heck what if the dev is using said camera system for familiarity purposes? Just because 2d platformer uses the same camera does that he mean he cloned Yukio's code? Nope! I'll say it again. What happens if this topic is closed and then the eventual proof comes out that, in fact, we were wrong and the code had, indeed, been changed?

I don't like the developer if he really steeled the code of Ultra-Power but I can't say anything on this topic, because I didn't play Ultra-Power, not even a single time. and the game is dead by the way. Hello all,As it stands with this particular game, the situation is, unfortunately, just too complex to make a decision over.The fact that when I sent a thread to the mods list and basically just got one response, from just one other mod, back saying leave it be, well, I think it's time for the public to decide what makes, and does not make, a good game. Safe to say stolen code is bad, absolutely no denying that. Stolen code and making money, also very bad. Yet what actual proof do we have? If it's using the same sounds still, what if it's different code under the hood now? It's about rights and stuff, but if the original creator isn't responding about Ultrapower, then how do we know what to do? Do we enforce a rule back from when tings got out of hand, and just stop it? Would that make us too draconian? It's about the gameplay, so the base is a bit like Ultrapower, yet we also have many side scroller-type experiences, even adventure at c, which is a game created from scratch, has you pressing enter to move from map to map when you are in a hub world. Does that make it a clone? Heck no, does every game that has a map where you press enter to go from area to area suddenly become a clone?Unfortunately the way I see it is, well, I honestly don't know with this particular situation. I could close the topic, bt people seem o like this game. What would that make people think of me, and by extention, the mod team, for shutting down discussion of a well-liked game? Aren't we supposed to be promoting audiogames? Yes, but the trouble is, when it comes to the stolen code situation, I will say we do not have proof.

I wasn't going to comment again, but, well, here we are. the game is based off of ultra power. they modified, and changed, and coded in new features, but the base of it is still ultra power. just think about it. if the game was their own, why would they still be making a 2d side scroller life simulator? why not make a 3d life simulator, similar to STW, from the ground up? better yet, why is killing still one of the main points of the game? the answer is simple. ultra power was a side scroller FPS. the guys are trying to convert it into a life simulator. credit goes where it's due. they have worked on it, and that is obvious, if anyone looks at it. however, anyone who knows the ultra power situation, even if they don't know how to code, can recognise ultra power in the thing. I'll admit, I fucked around with ultra power. quite a few versions. it is, after all, not hard to get sources. if you look at the key commands, or for that matter, the camera, they are absolutely identical to DM. same sounds, everything. that doesn't mean I won't give it a try in the future. it won't die any time soon. but if it is in fact a clone, which it almost certainly is, curious minds wonder why they are allowed to charge for store items. it's like me stealing redspot, convert it into a life simulator, and open a store. so while I don't mean to sound like carter, we do really need to figure out if it's a clone. personally, having a read me, and no, not a manual, but an actual getting started thingy, maybe I would have stuck around, exploring maps, and what not. as it stands, I sort of walked out. we'll have to reinstall the thing again. and yes, I used to play the thing last year, found all weapons, had everything. but then I sort of lost it, and gotten out of it. personally, I still can't fight, the lag is so bad.

I've discussed it with some people who seem to have my exact same opinion.But when you login and play, you play and have a good time, right? The stolen code situation usually stays in the back of your head, at least that's how it works for most people. It definitely seems forgotten, or at least put on the backburner for the time. That's what I've seen from this topic. New feature released guys, have fun! How long is that time? The original coder doesn't matter in frequency or my opinion.I'm probably done here, since I never really saw this going anywhere from the get-go. The previous post has quite a few examples though.

Oh here we go, I knew you had to mention something regarding stolen code discussion even though what we talked about is not in any way related to that. Actually, do some research and you will see that there actually are not that many accessible memory editing programs so that you can just grab one from the pile. I know of game cheater which is by now extremely opsolete and does not work on 64 bit systems, or cheatomatic which I have never actually used. Cheat engine is by far most up to date and videly used program for these things, and this is not the first game I see that detects it. Sure, looking for it installed is a bit stupid for the reasons I already mentioned abowe, but I do not personally know as I said how much it would affect performance in BGT to constantly look whether a process is running. OnToys for example looks for whether cheat engine is running and not installed, but that is an entirely different thing.

not to mention, cheat engine is one out of a bunch of programs that do this. All you have to do is grab another from the pile. I think the question should be what do you take to come up with such a horribly half engineered solution? Maybe the same thing that makes the user decide stolen code is actually good. Actually, where does everybody get that they don't have the right to tell you what you should and should not install? A program has every right to refuse to run if something else is installed. Nobody tells you what you should and should not install, just if you want to install it then don't play the game, very simple. I am guessing that they don't want to check whether cheat engine is running all the time as that could affect performance, so they just check whether it is installed instead. The only problem with this is that the detection, as seen is sometimes very unreliable. Moreover, you can just get portable cheat engine and it wont complain just because it can't look in all possible directories to find your cheat engine so this is really not the right way to do it, but that does not mean they have no rights to do it.

animal metal: I have one thing to say about their supposed "reason": bullshit. One and simple word. Cheat engine doesn't make anything slow. If the game is slow when its installed, its their fault, not cheat engines. They have absolutely no right to govern what people install on their system.

yeah that's stupid, you can't expect everyone to have the skill to find and eliminate all of cheat engine's keys from their registry. Also, I don't see how having cheat engine installed is reason enough to stop you from playing. I could understand checking for its process being run, etc. but to just have it installed. Bah. I'll install whatever the hell I want on my system thank you very fucking much.

Knowledge of Ultrapower would be helpful to boot, which very few people lack these days. So what do you suggest? I do believe there is no point discussing this with you with your lack of arguments and way too biassed opinion. Stop accusing admins for nothing. They are as confused as any real user with neutral opinion would be, and the fact you hate developers does not mean they can immediately shut this topic down and say that they did not develop anything. The truth, accept it or no is that they did develop lots of things. Whether UP code is used as a base or no is hard to proove now, but it is not that they did nothing and just get money for that.
