Hello All,
Doing bird surveys in Kit Carson County this week has produced a few
interesting sightings. I had a Harris' Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow and,
last week, a couple of Eastern Phoebes. One of the more amazing things for me
has been the number of Sandhill Cranes moving through the
Rivoli's is the old name for those who don't know.

My yard as well was inundated with sparrows. Many Chipping, Brewer's,
Clay-colored, Field and Lark. The Field Sparrow and the Lark Sparrows are yard
birds for me in Northglenn (Adams cnty). Great fun! It would be nice to get

coming through. I had 40-50 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 2 Orange-crowned and a

Many years ago in Wyoming I observed Gray Jays using a similar technique as the
crows attacking Red-winged nests. Their target was a Yellow-rumped Warbler
nest. One bird flew near the nest and was chased by the parent warblers. The

Just got back from viewing the Western Gull. It was at the swim beach around
3:15 this afternoon. The wind was horrendous, putting up so much sand at one
point that I could not see the gull from the parking area with my scope! It was
eventually forced off of the beach by some kids

I took a walk around Croke Res. in Northglenn this morning. This is a
Northglenn natural area that is located one block North 104th Ave on Huron
St. It is a fun place for a quick walk and at times can be very birdy. It is

Many years ago out at Sawhill ponds I saw a Red-winged Blackbird land on a
cattail that was too weak to support his weight. As the cattail bent toward the
surface of the pond a huge Largemouth Bass came up under it and engulfed the
