It appears that Red-winged Blackbirds may be declining in many areas,
as.we used to see many more Red-winged Blackbirds in Estes Park than we do
now.
Friends of mine around the country are saying the same thing. SO maybe
they were a bit more common in the past.

Many Swainson’s thrushes in flight calling overhead here in Littleton, JeffCo
now. I had a veery a minute ago as well. Lots of warbler/sparrow chips as well.

About 830, just before the wind started howling, there were 6 immature sabines
from the sand spit. For once I had a stiff tailwind to push me home on the
bike. There have been 5-6 Sabine’s daily for a few days now. Fun birds!

The Lesser Black-backed Gulls were there at sunrise. They caught me off guard

Hello. I will be travelling to Colorado from Chicago for the first two
weeks in August. I'm looking for birding spot recommendations. I will be
backpacking to Camp and Rawah lakes, which is north of RMNP. Then, I will
be driving south to the town of Heeney and staying there for several
nights.
Whimbrel found by Dale Pate at the Chatfield marina sand spit continues with
willets at 1:45pm.
Whimbrel was Green year bird #155, followed by least sandpiper, yellow headed
blackbird and brown headed cowbird. Spring is here.

We saw the jaeger about 850 from the dam. It came flying from the east
side/plum creek and went into JeffCo and bombed the gulls on the swim beach.
Hadn’t seen the bird in the hour before so it was hiding pretty well.
