Run as in cost. You said it up converts...but if nothing is HD what is there to up convert? Up converting dvd players take dvds and push them to 480p AFAIK. But if your source is standard 480i, then it's never going to be better then that. Do standard directv boxes do 480p? Upconverting, when

Agreed, upconverting really does make a difference. I use an upconverting DVD player and while it doesn't look as perfect as 1080i, it is still quite impressive. It certainly looks a whole lot better than some of the 720 stuff that is being broadcast as HDTV. Richard P. You said it up
