linuxconf/netcong network routes config doesn't work in MDK 9.
linuxconf writes an /etc/sysconfig/static-routes file, while the new
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-routes script uses a different file
(/etc/sysconfig/network-script/route-if) and a different syntax (old

As of man-1.5k-2mdk, makewathis creates his indexes into
/var/cache/man/$LANG, but apropos (and whatis) searchs only into
/var/cache/man ...

Sorted it out last night, although I use HardDrake to set the OSS driver. I
think that ALSA just does not support SoundBlaster Live properly (along with
some other sound cards from what I gather in some of the other messages).
Other than that everything is looking OK, although I'm not using USB
Try installing the latest initscripts package from Cooker - that appears to
fix a lot of problems.

I used Mandrake Control Centre to change the sound driver from OSS to ALSA.

prnters. And it doesn't work for non root users. I know it worked before
but in this RC3 it doesn't and is practically useless for users who are

My point is that the Gnome ESD sound system does not work correctly for me in
9.0 RC3.
Simply running esd from the command line produces digital noise which I guess
is the ESD start tune. It suggests a timming problem.
ESD works fine for me in MDK 8.2 on the same hardware using ALSA
I have an ATI ALL In Wonder 128 Theater Tuner with TV-out.
When I switch from xfree to terminal 1 (Ctrl-Alt-F1) and back to
xfree The computer freeze, the keyboard ligth begin to flash !
Nothing work I have to pull the plug !

Well, the subject says it all, the machine freezes completely when I
turn my Lexmark Z51 USB printer on.
No mouse, no keyboard (both PS2), no remote access, nothing, the machine
is completely dead. This is new to me, I have done this several times
and never had any problem.
