First off, machine still boots with old config, so until I want to install new
kernel, no problem.
Second: It indeed is empty pkgdatadir. I added
export pkgdatadir=/usr/lib/grub
to /etc/grub.d/00_header
and then it runs this script, but fails on the next one with the same issue.

Upstream clarifies in its CMakeLists: #always disable, for now.
