always create locally modified g77 packages (and have
already done so for our cluster running woody); it's just a little
inconvenient, and I'll have to do it again when we upgrade to sarge. If
you think it's unwise to change the default I certainly understand.
Thanks for your time,

Hi,
I can confirm #354463 is still the case with refblas3-dev 1.2-8 and
lapack3-dev 3.0.2531a-6 on Debian sid. This bug in some cases
causes static linking of binaries against liblapack.a to fail.

Really? Aren't there a number of GNOME packages that use FFTW?

I also see the spurious conffile questions reported in #399829. The
upgrade in question is in Etch from firefox 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.7-2 to
iceweasel 2.0.0.1+dfsg-2 (I believe this is the first iceweasel package
to enter Etch).

downgrade from configuration C [*] (otherwise the python2.4 - python2.3
downgrade gets completely botched) and that tzdata replaces files in the
Sarge libc6 package.
[*] YMMV if you have other python packages installed.

looks like it will not be part of the Etch release at this point anyway.)
I really have no idea what the problem could be so I'll tag this as help.
