i read in the kernel mailing list that UDMA66 isn't possible in the linux kernel yet. even with a patch its bound to cause lockups. http://kt.linuxcare.com/kt19990927_36.html#12 You can not currently use the second ATA-66 channel under Linux. Unless you have a rabbit in the hat to

sounds like a DNS issue, run a reverse lookup on the IP and see what comes out. you can also add this line to your /etc/resolv.conf domain yourdomain.com that will cause the system to search the local domain when you ping a hostname. for me if i pinged the host galactica, resolv.conf would

i have no complaints about netscape either. Sure it can crash..lockup. But it has never..once.. brought down the system. never brought down X either. i don't care if an app crashes, as long as it doesn't take anything else down with it. NT does it to me all thje time..doing normal things then

i may be wrong but i think the esound daemon does this, not though in the way you say. i believe, apps send the output of the audio to the daemon and the daemon opens /dev/dsp and outputs it there. any number of apps can talk to the daemon and the daemon can/will output sound from multiple

pine 4.x is good, the main reason to upgrade is it supports html based email, which if you communicate with people with stupid mail clients that use html(curses it silently) you won't have to kill them if they email you something you cant read :/ nate

1999-10-12 Thread aphro
real audio/video has a protection scheme, which lets the broadcaster decide wether they want you to be able to record the stream or not. there was a crack floating around for the winXX version to record RA but i havent seen a linux one(and i dont have the winXX one either, it was about 2 years
