I plug the printer, and after when I get problem (paper from cassette make
error)
I launch the debugging tool from 'administration/configuration' in the menu
of cinnamon. I didn't write a line of command. I never copy and paste
something I don't understand.
I don't know why I can't access to anything by localhost:631/admin
I saw option in hosts.allow, but i didn't uncomment it.
It can be when I launch the debugging tool, i don't know, really.

Installing the Canon driver will do nothing for your problem with not
being able to connect to localhost:631. Leave it - you will end up in
more of a mess.

Your lpstat and lpoptions outputs show you managed to install your USB
printer. "job-sheets=confidential" is not a default so you must have
done something to alter the defaults during or after installing the
queue. How did you insall the printer? Using your browser or with
something like system-config-printer?

I didn't touch anything for the moment. an
I tried to install the canon driver for debian downoaded from canon but I
can't install it because libtiff4 is need and the process stops from
itself.
I don't know if in this case it write some .conf files.
At first I tried localhost et 127.0.0.1:localhost but I can't connect to
the server

The service must be running, otherwise 'lpstat -a would say "Bad file
descriptor".

lpadmin needs a print queue name to work with:

  lpadmin -p iP4800-series -o job-sheets-default=none

should be more successful. Done as a user with administration privileges
to cups; root or a member of the lpadmin group.

Maybe the service isn't running (or something). I'm not familiar with
systemd.

Perhaps something in this thread might be helpful:

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=193583

And this option (as root)?

I see in your response to B. that you have job-sheets set to
'confidential,' and that's your banner I believe.

This is the cause of your problem.

Do as Curt suggests and go to

  http://localhost:631/printers

Select your printer and, on the next page, choose "Administration"; then
"Set Default Options"; finally "Banners".

(localhost:631/admin should not have failed. Have you altered anything
in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf?)

Apparently the cassette business is a known problem (I mean others have
remarked that you must choose 'cassette' as the default tray).

It appears you have a banner page; have you tried navigating with your
browser to localhost:631/admin default options/Banners and setting
'Starting banner' and 'Ending banner' to 'none,' if one or both are
indeed set to 'classified?'

Another way, I believe, to turn off an eventual banner is to execute the
following command in an xterm (you might have to be in administrative
mode):

lpadmin -o job-sheets-default=none

The command

  lpstat -a

gives a list of printers known to your system. Please post the output of
this command.

You know which printer you are printing to. Post the output of

  lpoptions -p printer_name

Hi, your English is fine :)

Congratulations on getting the printer working. It sounds like there
might be a setting somewhere that you can change. You'd be looking for
something that will say something-something about "include cover
letter", something like that.

It's been maybe 15 years ago since I ever last encountered that. I
remember seeing it for something related to FAX, maybe. It seems safe
to a-sume there might be a similar feature you can toggle (click on
and off) if you can just track it down with respect to printer
software.

Good luck with that last little hurdle!

Cindy :)

hello,
I have a lot of difficulties to use my Canon ip 4850 in Jessie.
The guntenprint driver reconize my printer. I doesn't get the paper from
the cassette; anyway I choose cassette instead of automatic and after
rebooting the printer print a dozen of page test.Nice !
The problem is, every time i print a document, the first page is
"Confidential" with all data of the printer and after it prints my document.
Not really ecologic for the paper lost.

Any idea ?
