Normally module versions are unrelated to the NetBeans version. So a
NetBeans Platform app doesn't update versions the same way a
Maven-based NetBeans Platform app (where for convenience we have only
major versions like RELEASE82,
So now, both IntelliJ and Eclipse use calendar versioning (2019.03)
but it seems crazy to suggest this for NetBeans?

It would be quite awesome if our language plugins would be written in

Just a tangential note here. I always found the NetBeans concept of
mime paths amazing and quite elegant in allowing embedded languages. I

their errors directly from the IDE.
I expect that all the error reporting will stop working for NetBeans

Maybe some people used to own specific areas but people move to new
projects, new companies, etc. Only a fraction of the people that
worked on NetBeans are active on the Apache mailing list.
It's best to start looking at code, ask questions (or make small PRs)
and see who answers :-)

I am bundling JDK 10.0.2. I am skipping JDK 11.0.1 as there were some
bugs with it showing up for NetBeans but I'm not entirely sure it
affects the Platform or just the IDE...
Once JDK 11.0.2 is available I think I'll start bundling that.

That SHA1 confused me too.
The SHA512 for the release artefact seems quite essential. Somebody
changing the artefact can easily update the hash too, but if the hash
is publicly listed in the email then it's almost impossible

see, but people only really care about the final law.
