Text messages may be a wonderful donation method for those in the US, but it leaves donors outside the US out of the loop. I tried to make a donation to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief fund via the web site on Thursday morning. The form repeatedly threw an error saying my card was declined.

It certainly doesn't hurt to offer. And it doesn't hurt to consider where they're at or where they're coming from either. Many times a kludgy interface is due to it being dictated by the back end where an apparently easy tweak can wreak havoc on other layers (talking to the DB, e-commerce, etc.)
