Reformat the disk and run scandisk prior to copying any data to the disk. This may give you some hints on what's wrong. It could well be that your harddisk is slowly dying. Or it could be the harddisk controller on your motherboard or the power supply. Sometimes it is really hard to tell and you

It is possible to get a diagnostic utility from your hard disk manufacturer's Website. This will give you a number of options but to be sure you will need to use the an option which writes all possible patterns to the disk. This is the only way you can be sure of the disk, scandisk may pass the

There is no such thing as a slimserver browser. I must admit I don't have windows but the web interface is independant of any browser build. When you bring up the web interface via the shortcut in windows it should start your default web browser (at least that's how I understand it). As for the

Perhaps you're referring to an abbreviated browser window, which is just another browser window without the menus and URL bar. This is not considered good browser behavior anymore because you can't see what URL you're visiting nor can you access any controls to stop certain things from happening

You'll be able to see it if you shine a bright light at the display. I managed to capture where it is by taking some photos for a rewview I wrote. See attachment and note the receiver's position relative to the Slim Devices logo. The receiver is the small circular part.

As I understand it, Windows power management will power off your computer unless you use the keyboard or mouse. There's no way for slimserver (or other software that runs as a server) to change that. Squeezeboxes support Wakeup on Lan, but that's quite a different story. That wakes up the

There are windows system calls that an application can use to prevent suspend/shutdow. and events it can monitor when these occur.. But its been so many years since I did any perl coding that I don't know how they are accessed. Most of the threads on standby seem to be about getting the PC
