I couldn't browse anything when I tried the browse by Music Folder
option. It would just say loading music folder, and then time out.

SqueezeCenter on Linux. I've tried various combinations of Ubuntu,
Fedora and SqueezeCenter 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.1, 7.2 and even 7.3. So far,

I currently run Suse 11 with Squeezecentre 7.1, but have had
squeezecentre 7.0 onwards working on Suse 10.3 and Clark connect.
I choose a basic headless setup, with Samba so that I can access the
files from Windows, and it just works!

Just to throw my hat into the ring, I too am looking at developing an
iPhone remote control for the SqueezeCenter although I'm going the
commercial route instead of the open-source route. I do hope to do a
limited beta first using ad-hoc distribution.

So this weekend I loaded Ubuntu 8.0.4 and Squeezecenter on my laptop,
the same laptop that was running Squeezecenter on Vista (luckily I had
a spare HD kicking around).
I used smbfs to attach to the MyBookWorld Edition where all my music

each device's MAC address (serial number).

I have just performed a rescan of my music-folders with no problem at
all but when I try to rescan the playlist (which have work in the
earlier versions) the scan seems to last forever1 Anyone experiencing
with the same problem?

a NAS which I can access from Vista just fine but SC 7.1, 7.2, and 7.3

I've got loads of logs in my firewall from the Receiver and not sure why
they are there.
The set up is
1x Receiver
1x Controller
squeezecenter 7.1 running on Debian stable (installed via apt)
I can connect to the squeezecenter and play music, but after I'm
finished I turn off the Receiver and
seperated the autoplaylists into another folder, but would prefer them
to be automatically ignored.

This is normal, the receiver doesn't really turn off. It will try to
contact the server from time to time in order to reconnect to it.
You can connect the SBR to SqueezeNetwork just before you shut down the
server to stop this.
What shouldn't happen is that the server shouldn't turn back on.

No, what happens is that a sampling effect called aliasing causes all
the material above the nyquist (22KHz) to get
