Just because you do not know how to do it doesn't mean it's not possible. See here: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Enjoying_your_music_from_another_place P OK. let me rephrase. You cannot do this, without a public ipv4 address. One thing that you have to keep in mind, is that once public IP-addresses have run out, you will be put behind a NAT of the ISP for your ipv4-to-ipv4 traffic. Do not expect that these CGN (Carrier Grade Nat) services will offer port-forwarding. The only way you can then have ipv4 peer-to-peer connectivity will be via some kind of relay. OK, you can get a connection via a VPN-service somewhere, but this actually is pretty much the same thing as buying a public ipv4 address. Or you can get yourself a business subscription at your ISP -which includes a fixed ipv4-address- but do not complain if you need to pay (say) 20 euro a month extra for that. Why would you get throu all this problem is you can just move to ipv6 and have full any-to-any connectivity between any device on the planet? - between your phone/tablet and your SB - between your SB and a shoutcast server operated by somebody on her private LAN-network at home - between your SB and the NAS of a friend on his home-LAN - between your SB and somebody elses in a peer-to-peer broadcasting network. - to receive ipv6 multicast stations (RP-embedded ipv6 multicast addressing allows ANY ipv6 router to act RP for a multicast-stream so everybody is able to start a radio-station using ipv6 multicast). If you just use your SB to listen to an internet-radio station of some large media-concern, ipv4 and nat and nat-after-nat will do just fine. But if you want to go beyond that, ipv6 is an opportunity which allows for all kind of new and decentralised services. Learn to use it and image what you can do with it. Cheerio! Kr. Hi Pat, All very true. But don't expect it to happen to anything in the current SqueezeBox line. None of the old products are going to change significantly. The Touch and Radio might, but I won't hold my breath. Of course. I do not expect this to be written this in a week neither. The only point I wanted to make is that one should not concider ipv6 as just a fix for the fact that the ipv4 address-space has run out. It's much more than that. (see my other messages on that, I try not to repeat myself to much :-) ). It will take time for ipv6 to get deployed and for people to have this ok, as any device on the planet can now talk to any other deivce, so perhaps we can use it for ... moment, which is needed for the new applications to dreamed up, coded and appear. But, of course, if a box does not talk ipv6, there is no way it can participate in this. :-) I hope that the ipv4exhaustion will do its work. I see that the SB-code will get upgraded to support ipv6 this year. I've made my point so I rest my case. Agree the the rendezvous capabilities of IPv6 are great, and will make TV and movies much more interesting. But I don't see a need for audio, it so low in bandwidth requirements. True. It would allow everybody to start their audio-stream from his/her own private network. And it can also be used for other kinds of data like status-updates or playlists. Is there an advantage or disadvantage using 64 bit over 128 bit encryption with the SB player? Yeah, that helps when the device has the correct encryption passphrase. ;) It's kind of like trying to use your house key on your neighbors front door. Re: [slim] Cover art only displays for first track in Album
If you have an normal album then all the tracks should have the same album art. If SBS scans an album with tracks with different embedded album art, Squeezebox Touch shows only the album art of the first track. In the web interface you see for the album the album art of the first track but when you play an another track you see the right embedded art. If you want to see the right embedded album art on the Squeezebox Touch you can choose the more button (+) and then show album art (do not known if this is the right name because I use another language) I can advise you to look at your tags with an tag-editor for instance Mp3tag. -- wowo *Squeezebox*: 1x Touch + 1x 3 Classic *SqueezeboxServer*: Versie: 7.5.3 - r31792 *Plugins*: Album Review 2.9.3; Biography 2.9.4; Custom Browse 2.10.3296; Custom Scan 2.8.3223; Trackstat 2.10.3031 *NAS*: QNAP Turbostation TS-239 Pro II (1,6Ghz, 1GB); firmware 3.3.6 Build 1110T; QPKG SqueezeBoxServer 7.5.3 *Tag*: MusicBrainz 0.12.1; Mp3tag v2.48 *Other programs*: Album Catalog Creator v2.0.5 'Last.fm' (www.last.fm/user/Wowotiel) wowo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18033 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85343 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Transport doesn't play...
It's been a largely uneventful experience to be honest, yeah a few things could be improved, but I tend to not to fuss to much about details if something basically works. -- JohnWH JohnWH's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12401 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85414 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Transporter question
Thanks Gary. Interesting thread. My take away from that thread is that I should get an Ethernet cable. The TCP ACK on the WiFi may induce noises. -- vett93 vett93's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13301 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85411 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
