Re: [Dx4win] An exceptional occurred
I recently went through this same exercise. Received help directly from Paul. In the end, after several tries, he suggested I note all settings, then delete the .cfg file. After doing so I logged back into DX4WIN then clicked on FILE/PREFERENCES and re-entered all the data applicable to my station. Luckily I had written down the info needed to allow DX4WIN and my radios to communicate (IN "RADIO" tab). I then exited the program being sure to SAVE when asked. The problem was corrected. Hope this will help. Re: [Dx4win] FW: [DX4WIN] On-line DXCC Application is up
03 April: LOTW only. 105 claimed credits. About 15 minutes from submitting application (DXCC) to being able to see changes in my band/mode totals and to print out new adjusted awards list totals. I believe its an automatic, no human interface system. It is surprising to see old QSOs being confirmed on LOTW. I had several from 5+ years ago that came up today that did not pop up on 01 March 2012. A few folks are going back to much old logs and inputting that old log data. I have had a few confirmations from 20+ years ago via LOTW. I have some QSLs to confirm QSOs for band/entity but must go through HQ; includes a few deleted entities and 160M QSO/QSLs. That would rule out the On-Line system that requires field checking of QSLs, not in a rush so I will keep collecting more QSLs and let the HQ backlog decrease. I believe the 3 systems will now contribute to reduced processing times for the slower methods. This can only be an improvement for us. Hq needs a THANKYOU from those of us out here. Thanks Rick. That gives me some ideas and items to check with the users of N3FJP in our FD group. [Dx4win] Freq logged in DX4WIN
I am not sure if I have a DX4WIN problem, using V8.05, or an ELECRAFT K3 problem. When in simplex/transceive the RX/TX freq of the K3 (VFO=A and VFO=B) is the same. OK, that's normal. However when I go to SPLIT operation on the K3 the frequency displayed and logged in DX4WIN is the TX (VFO=B) freq which can be from 0 to whatever KHz removed from the RX freq. Example of problem: During SPLIT operation mode RX = 14.024.00 (VFO A on K3), TX = 14029.00 (VFO B on K3). DX4WIN displays and logs 14029.00. How do I get the RX freq to be indicated and logged in DX4WIN? A friend using DX4WIN V8.04 and an ICOM IC-746PRO correctly indicates and logs the RX freq in SPLIT operation. OK, it may seem a minor point but it is more important to me to log the DX station TX freq (my RX freq) than it is to log my TX freq. From a friend who has K3 and DXLAB, both the RX and TX freq are indicated and logged. Maybe this is a feature that can be added to DX4WIN??? [Dx4win] Strange occurrence
V8.04 Somehow all my C values in the REPORT/DXCC/LISTING all changed to S. W and M are still OK. I am able to verify status of each entity/band/mode in a separate data program. In the REPORT/DXCC/SUMMARY I no longer have any values in Confirmed column, my Submit column is same total as the Tot. Conf column and only one value in MIX row for CHECKED column. BTW, I do not care about the CHECKED column. If it implies checked and accepted for an award I think A would be more appropriate. The C, W, M values in each COUNTRY WINDOW are OK. I upgraded from V8.04 to V8.05. Problem still exists. However, when working a new band entity the COUNTRY window now shows L instead of W. I do not know if I caused this problem, that is possible, but if I did I do not know what I did. In reading the manual I do not find any help. John I have GROUPS 0, 1, 2, and 3defined. If I search for any of the 4 groups by group number I get only those QSOs for that group. When I total the number of QSOs I selected in FILTER (group) of the 4 groups I get the total number of QSOs in my log. That tells me the filter function by groups is working properly. Not sure what you mean by illogical fashion. I defined my needs for groups and the log does sort (filter) by those needs, in otherwords, my groups. I have my entire log for N7KA going back to June 1978 is entered into DX4WIN. Group 0 identiined as all QSOs prior to 01 JAN1983 (the date that VUCC started). I lived in Tucson, AZ in 01 JAN 1983 so have defined Group 1 by the 6 digit grid square I was living and operating from. Group 2 is defined by my current 6 digit grid square beginning 24 FEB, 1985. Group 3 is defined as the grid square I operated portable on 6M Sunday 20 June 2010. They all sort properly when I select FILTER and enter the group number. At start-up my correct group 2 is displayed in the QSO WINDOW GROUP box. (that is what I have set as default) If I change and SAVE the group number in the FILE|PREFERENCES|QSO group box, this becomes the group number displayed in the QSO WINDOW upon starting the program. You MUST do QSO|Real-time after the program is booted to set the program to begin logging for the day, otherwise you get data from the last QSO entered in your log. BTW all 4 of my groups do come up at start if I have defined a group as the default. l also keep my group number and description written on paper and stored in my manual as backup; group number description, date range, and any other info I determine is relevant. 73 de Arne N7KA - John Shaw jns...@internet.co.nz wrote: Using version 8.04. When I set the group to 0 in the preferences and then go to real time entry the group is 0 so I cant reproduce your result for that one. If I set the group in preferences to a group not previously set up and go to real time entry it does come up as the group set and will log it as such. As a consequence after that if I go to Filter|Edit Group Names the new group generated this way does not show up in the list and am not being able to use Filter|Select to find that QSO, it can be searched for by using F8. Since F8 search can be used it can be set to another group using QSO|Multiple QSO Operations. So other than being able to do something in an illogical fashion it would seem to be function ok. If I want to have a new group of QSO's I have always generated the new group by using the Filter|Edit Group Names function before logging or importing a QSO to that group in my log. As a aside note I don't log any QSO's to group 0, start from group 1 then you will be able to do a group filter search for any and or all QSO's in the log. 0 is a group of everything, including itself, a group of all groups if you like. 73 John ZL1BYZ. __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Dx4win] K3
I can not get the K3 (RS232) to interface to Version 7.02.15. I can get th e K3 to interface on another program I have been testing. The 2nd program NOT running when I try to interface the K3 to D X4WIN. I tried the TS-2000 as the selected radio which I am told should allow interface. Same COM port for both programs. I am not looking at radio control from computer, just BAND/MODE display selected on the K3 (for now). After I get the K3 interface (RS232) working I want then to add a TS-2000 (mainly VHF) as a 2nd radio. ( I need to add a card to gain additional serial ports.) And yes, the other program is a challange, which I do not really need. Every program has its GOOD and BAD points. I will be upgradingDX4WIN. BUT FIRST, the K3 issue.
