Has anyone successfully interfaced a K3 and THP HL-1.5KFX amp so the K3
tells the amp what band to be on? If so, I would appreciate specifics on
how you did it.
Thanks,

I had the opportunity to do a small introduction of my recently arrived KX3 at
the San Diego Six Shooters meeting in Santee, CA last week.
It was a nice time and many questions were asked and answered. Fortunately for
me there was an old time Elecraft expert in the crowd who was a K3 owner
A few months ago a ham buddy of mine, K0CEH, came over to see my HF
antenna. While in the shack, he asked about my K3 KPA500, and I gave him
a 1-minute demo, and told him about the upcoming KX3. Shortly afterward, he
went to Dayton, saw a KX3 at the Elecraft booth, and ordered one.

I saw this press release and thought I share it. It seems Icom (Japan) has
introduced their new all band/all mode amateur transceiver. It will likely
be some time before we see some version of it in the USA. More info can be

HI Guys,
I have a used W2 that has the 2kw transmitter that is not functioning
properly.
I can get it to read out swr on the led's if it is on the 20w range

It might be interesting to get the W2 Utility running, and see if you

Ok I found the problem with the W2, or problems.
1) The interface cable or CAT5 cable apparently was bad.
2) Power if not coming from the radio apparently the unit is not happy,
I was using the AC adaptor from my MFJ analizer as I did not have a
power cable that would fit it ready to go.
Greetings, I would like to find an excellent P3 with
SVGA adapter. Anyone have one to part with? If
so details please. Thanks, Mike

Need some help to start with.
I have a KX3 purchased in May. It has the roofing filter and the ATU unit.
I have not updated the firmware yet. Still with the one loaded in the
factory.
Recently the radio went mute. Also when trying to match the antenna with
the ATU, SWR displayed 25:1.

Good news Don.
Some of those adapters are pretty flakey with widely varying output voltages
and lots of ripple on the voltage, even those supplied for use with other
electronics. Sometimes the first thing inside the electronic unit being

I would discourage one from arbitrarily doing an EEINIT unless you have
a stored K3 configuration file that you can load afterward.
EEINIT sets all menu items back to the default settings. It may be
necessary, but do know that you will have a lot of calibration to do
unless you have that
I would be checking the dc resistance of the the 50 ohm output bnc back
through, as it sounds more
like a short than an open circuit.
Quite often an open will only attenuate a rx signal rather than silence it
altogether as a short will do.

1. Set the KX3's RX ISO to OFF. This is a MENU function.
2. Put the KX3 on a freq on 40m. Leave it on RX.
3. Put the main station on the same 40m freq.

Hi Andrew,
The best solution is to put a tuner in the trailer that automatically tunes
when it senses RF and a high SWR. Several manufacturers make such tuners.
Connecting the random wire to 100 feet of coax and then having the tuner in
your rig do the tuning will result in high SWR in the coax
Hello,
I got a K3 kit in April which included the K144XV. It went
together fine and had about 10 watts output on 2M. I made a few FM
contacts and a couple of SSB contacts, the last one in the June VHF
contest. I tried 2m again this month and noticed the power output only
about .5 watt max.
Download the K3 Schematics from the manuals section of the Elecraft
website. The K144XV schematic is included in that PDF file.

I would suggest that you take your KX3 to the aluminum skinned trailer
