Hello,
Here is my story -
Bought a 4 month old K3/10 off ebay (yes) from another radio operator in
Texas. Unit arrived in excellent physical condition except that it won't
transmit any audio using the MH2 hand mic.
The radio has -
* K3/10
* KAT3
* 2.7 kHz 5 pole filter (standard)
* 5ppm
I am looking for a P3 with SVGA, or a just a p3 and the SVGA from someone else.
Doesn’t matter. I can put them together.
Thanks, 73,
Bill, W0WFH

Hi Everyone,
I have tried my K3 on 6 meters and was treated to a pile of large S3 birdies up
and down the band. Tech support says that condition is normal for 6 meters and
to solve the situation when a birdies lands on a real signal is to use the
filter shift. Not a real good solution to the

Check the position of JP5 and JP6 - they should be on pins 2 and 3 for 1

It is also possible that the Q6 circuit is not functioning properly. It
is bypassed for the higher drive power, and only in-circuit for 1 mW drive.

I have several birdies on both 6 (K3) and 2 meters (K3+XV144) - most can be

Dave,
It's virtually impossible to avoid some weak birdies on each band in a
high-dynamic range, down-conversion superhet. That said, on 6 m there should be
very birdies in the weak-signal area (the part of the band typically used for
CW and SSB work).

Birdies are radio internal not source external. If you disconnect the antenna

It does exist for some systems. There is a Repeater Book app for

Mel,
That capability is available right now to hams using APRS if the radio
supports it. I do not use it that way since if I am using APRS I have text

program can show you repeater locations along your route and
Thanks Mark. I knew of the APRS system, just thought a simple method would do

Using a signal generator provides S9 on all band *but* 80 -- there it's

While the K3 is not designed for direct operation at 600m and below (filtering

It would really be nice if K3 would support 80m as a transverter frequency.
If it did it would enable 3.5-4.0Mhz to reflect the full 500Khz from a low

Why not use 40 m (7.0-7.5 MHz) as the I.F.? This is already available (see XVn
IF menu entry), and there's no reason why it can't work as an I.F. for a
low-band transverter.
