I personally think all the banter about KPA1500 fan noise has created
confusion. Yes, the amp has three fans with five selectable fan speeds..and
since the amp is small the fans are necessarily small and therefore must run
faster …. and as the fan speed increases the pitch and noise levels
I have experienced power level changes with s/n 45 since day one. I had
envisioned setting the K3s config to ‘power per band’, adjusting the power
level to just below 1500 watts on each band, and then being able to switch
bands and magically find that the power level is still sitting exactly
KPA1500's that have been manufactured so they should be
getting used in all types of environments now. I hope to order one for my
station, eventually.

I find both the K3 subreceiver and P3 very helpful in cracking DX pileups.
Without the subreceiver it's really not that big of a deal to toggle back
and forth between VFOs to monitor the pileup, but it's still much better
