I prefer the sound of a good analog CW radio like HW16 when looking at the
newer full house radios. Many of the new SDR radios mask subtle amplitude
variations of the signal and some atmospherics as well...

Something else I've noticed since getting the KXPA100 is the Select knob on
the PX3 gets flaky if it's turned too fast. It seems to work fine if you
turn it slowly. For instance when setting the Ref Level if the Select
control is turned very fast the display just jitters and doesn't change

I think we often become much too critical and forget that the KX1 and
KXPD1 are designed for portable use, particularly light backpacking and
portable operation. I therefore believe it is unfair to compare them
with other paddles and transceivers. I own a KX1/KDPD1 and a KX3/KXPD3,

adjust the paddles as tightly as I normally prefer. The adjustment
screws have rather coarse threads and it seems like theres only about a

Hello Chris - I am using my K2/100 with N1MM and do not notice the noise
that you are referring to. I use the K2/100 with two laptops - one an old
P1 266mhz with only 80 meg ram (yes, it works fine with N1MM as long as you

I'm working on K2 #4607. I'm to the point of Alignment and Test,
Part II. A couple of problems have come up.
1) The K2 is failing the PLL range test with a range of 9.47kHz.
L31 is currently 10uH. I've emailed elecraft regarding this.
