Thanks for taking the time to do those recordings for us.
In a nutshell I would say that the noise reduction would greatly reduce my
listening fatigue. In both ssb and cw the resulting audio is softened ie
similar to reducing audio bandwidth.
I prefer this effect to simply reducing IF
Any strong unmodulated carrier seems to work. Theses are the things that
you would use the autonotch filter for.
Not sure if this sounds exactly like caddisflies but I saw a horror
movie 25-30 years ago that when bad stuff was going to happen the
caddisflies would all start making a very loud

Since there is no OpNote on this combination I thought I'd publish
what I've learned to date.
So far so good:
1. The combination is a K2 (QRP stock with all internal modules less
the ATU. No modifications to any module.) , RIGblaster pro, and an XP
configured

firmware program could report it is there. (alternatively, maybe the K3
can report it like it does key err) I'm not keen on zapping the front
end with a high signal level from an uncalibrated source to find out if
it is working.
I had problems from my Mac using Safari but moved to a Windows
platform downloaded to a flash drive and then moved to the Mac to
installKudos to the developer of the NR improvements...a much
needed upgrade in my view...night and day in fact.

totally different from previous versions. Just a question : it seems that
any change of settings (FX-Y, especially X, i.e from F3-3 to F2-2) is not
taken while you don't press NR OFF/On again.

I believe that the boot up detection is only to determine whether the
jumper is installed, not whether it has been activated by a strong
signal. I really don't see a need to report that the jumper is installed
on the display since one would surely remember if the jumper has been
installed.
It would give mod installers without means to test a way to assure
themselves that they have properly carried out the task.

I have been unable to successfully ftp download from the Elecraft Beta
If mod installers don't have at least a cheap DMM to do testing with,
they have no business anywhere near the K3 RF board with a soldering
iron. Why continually add things to the menu?

personally wanted assurance and so I used my k1 a dummy load and my
dmm to test. I think there are others who would appreciate assurance
that the mod is in place correctly and don't want to hook a

I just got stumped by this, too. In order to turn the sub RX NB on
and off independently of the main RX, you have to set CONFIG:VFO
IND=Yes. This allows the main and sub RX to be on different bands (so
pay attention when changing bands!) If CONFIG:VFO IND=No, the sub RX

While checking with a local ham CW on the 10 meters band, we found that the
tone at his receiver was no pure it sounded rough, only on this band, the
other HF band were OK. After discarding SWR, ground, paddle cable and other
connected cables I found that the problem is with the RS-232 cable
We had a nice SSB net today on 14.316 MHz. The signal levels were just OK.
We had 19 participants including net control and ran for
31 minutes. The discussions involved K3 knob and encoder problems
(especially the four knobs to the left of the main tuning knob).

QRM'd who here. He stated that the other station informed him as soon

Now switched from CW to SSB portion of 40m by pushing A/B - horrible noise of
