By far, I believe that in the long run, if you are interested in working
more DX stations running split pileups, the KRX3 will serve you much better than
the P3. With the audio of the sub-receiver in your right ear, you will find it
easy to identify stations working the DX. You will
If you want to be even more effective for CW pileups, add and
SDR/SKIMMER to the subrx IF output. You can see the calls of the
stations in the pileup on a band map/waterfall display. IDing the
frequency last worked is considerably easier with both KRX-3 audio and
the SKIMMER display.
Any comparrison made through a microphone and with no direct connection to
the audio input is pretty much useless. Plus, I haven't seen any mention of
antennas. Does the same antenna feed both rigs? Lou WA3MIX

Try going into the CONFIG: menu and locate with the VFO B knob, KAT3.
Rotate the VFO A kjnob until the display says installed. Now close

Rich,
I basically agree with you about adding the KRX3 first, but it would be
interesting to see how the P3 works with only one RX and split VFOs. That
might still be a pretty potent combination. I am sure others have that
setup and it would be interesting to hear some of their comments.

There is absolutely no substitute for hearing your own signal on the air.
Not even the K3's built-in monitor.
Commercial broadcast stations (at least when I was messing around in

everyone could hear that was driven by a
Another idea for hearing your own signal is at websdr.org. Pick a receiver,
