Well I have officially taken the plunge and ordered a K2 today. After much
consideration about how to configure my K2 I decided that I will make a QRP

I might need. I was thinking about going the 100 watt option but I

i have a Prolific USBserial Adapter for a laptopK3 connection.
While the installation (installation? what installation?) under Ubuntu

You will not be disappointed. Just last night I worked 160 meter Delaware
and Kentucky, QRP 10 watt SSB to 10 watt SSB, and many other QRO stations.
I can work any state on 160 with 5 watt CW. Astonishes the Big guns. Its
all about antennas anyway.
Roy, AB7CE,
What I just don't understand is why QRP operators have to sign /QRP after
their callsigns when in a contest. It takes longer and the guy on the other
end has to copy not only their call (often QRP stations are weak anyway),
but the /QRP as well. I too am astonished when I work some EU station

Switched to a different transceiver
There is no 'have to' about it. Many, in fact probably most, QRP
operators do not add /QRP to their callsigns. It is questionable
whether it is legal under most amateur licences anyway.
I have been using my K2 at 5W for nearly 9 years now and have worked
all sorts of DX. I never use /QRP when
Here is a strange problem that seemed to be intermittent last night
and now has disappeared.
Last night in the 160 contest, when I turned on the subrx, I lost
transmit power. (It had been fine up until then.) I was operating
at 100W with (or without) the ATU into an okay ~1.5:1 load. When I

Here is something I was also wondering could I utilize the AUX on the sub
receiver with the MFJ 1026 either along side the KXV3A in out connections?
The reason for asking this is I use diversity receive and was not sure if I
could incorporate the MFJ unit as well?
Thanks

Hi Dohn,
Interestingly, I had the 1st problem I've ever noted with the B

I pull slightly on VFOB nothing changes. If I push on it slightly it works

Any other ideas?

When you put the rig in AM Sync the rig will follow any changes in the received

Please keep us posted when you zero in on the culprit.
I had a similar RFI issue with one of our DirecTV boxes. I narrowed down to
the RG6 coax feeding the box. I added one ferrite choke to the cable

More interesting findings:
I disconnected the coax cable to the DVR: RFI is still there! So the cable
coax+DVR does not seem to be the source of my RFI on 20m.
With the coax cable disconnected, but the DVR still connected to the TV via
HDMI cable, the RFI is there if I'm playing a recorded

Mike,
The thing that is wrong with that logic is that AM-S has an AFC
associated with it (capture range). So the frequency that AM-S can

If you cannot determine the beat frequency, I would suggest you first
