I assembled the radio and it has now worked the frequencies for a month,
no failures; guess that means it passed QC @ Elecraft as a kit also.
Of course it wasn't as much of a task as the K2, some thirteen plus
years ago

Have had a Traffie Hex-Beam up since 2002 (Halloween day)
on a Wilson 40 foot tubular tower = works well with the K2 and
with the KX3 it even works on 6-meters
I will have to try it as a receiving antenna on the lower bands

t, to many a ham as a general purpose antenna. Simple to construct: as
a dipole, 51 feet each side of center, with 32 feet of 300-Ohm twin-lead
and then 68 feet of coax. It didn't seem to matter much if one used
52-Ohm or 73-Ohm coax. :-)

Hi All K2 transceiver fans
Built in July, 1999 is my K2/at transceiver # 136 operational on CW &
SSB @ 10 watts
I also have a gray shirt from Elecraft, with K2 # 136 by K1ND
embroidered on it
IT complements my K4/at # 0200 very well

While a broadcaster - I usually purchased foot switches from either box
houses like BH or music stores for guitar amp control.
They should be in the $15 range with a cord 1/4 phone plug.

I use a Yaesu MD100A8X to my K3. The up/down buttons works fine for frequency
up/down.
My request: Selectable use of the buttons, I would like to have band
up/down.

I built my K3 a year ago. I used a basic ESD mat wrist strap, a good set
of Philips screwdrivers and pliers. That was about all that was necessary.
I built mine so I would know how it was put together when I had to take it
apart. I had to fix a Kenwood and its disassembly was a minor issue

If you install the unmatched filters according to the IB, The 2 receivers
will sound like they are slowly alternating between the two speakers or
earphones.
If you are using SSB then just set-up the filters using the average offset
for both and you won't have that effect and save a $ or
for wish list 2010:
Pin 3-5 DOWN/UP/FUNCTION user config with macros.
Possible?
