IMO, MMY's model of the Rishi-Devata-Chandas would be closer to capturing the meaning of the dove in the New Testament. Yadava the Krishna was also an historic figure and an avatara similar to Jesus. As such, God takes on the forms of his previous saints and hence you have what are called avataras. When Christ Jesus said, Me and my Father are one he was saying that the Brahm or immanent dynamism of creation (the personal God consciousness) and Brahman, the Absolute beyond creation were ONE, or Unified! What MMY calls dynamism and silence. IMHO. It appears that Christ is trying to say that through him, the absolute and the relative have become one.

[FairfieldLife] Fiesta Mayor, continued
Sitges' normal population is about 25,000. Last night it was closer to 200,000. That's how spec- tacular the fireworks show was. I had already pre-picked my viewing spot, so was set up there with my ladyfriend and our picnic basket full of goodies when the show started. I had done some scouting around for the best place, and decided that it was the Sitges Beach Club, a private high-rent club right on the beach. Of course, only members are allowed in. But in their wisdom the owners of the Beach Club left a little raised grassy area just outside their fence, on which we spread our blanket and enjoyed the same view the members did, without spending tens of thousands of Euros a year for the privilege. The show started at 11:00 and went on for 40 minutes. They cut out all the street lights in Sitges, so it was as dark as it would have been for a similar show in the 16th century, with the cathedral lit only by the fuegos artificiales themselves. Whoever this Sitges resident is who is considered one of the living masters of pyrotechnics, he really is. He managed to actually *draw pictures* in the sky. Bursts would look like the planet Saturn, or a series of interlocking circles or triangles, very much like yantras in the sky. Way cool. At the end of it all, we just stayed sitting where we were and let the other 199,998 people deal with being cows caught in the herd. It was quite amazing to see -- all of the streets jammed with bodies, trying to get either back to their cars or to the nearest disco. It took half an hour before the crowds had thinned out sufficiently for us to move from our comfy spot. Suffice it to say that there was dancing, revelry, and merriment. It has been said, and with some truth, that if you can't get laid on the Saturday of Fiesta Mayor in Sitges, you're dead. And I use the phrase some truth because about ten years ago some woman discovered that she was having sex on the beach with a guy who had had a heart attack and died early on in the experience. We contented ourselves with hanging out at the Budda Bar and watching the crowds dance past, and allowed the younger folks to explore the wonders of testosterone in the noisier clubs. This morn- ing, the streets are clean again and free from crowds and trash (the street cleaners here are nothing short of amazing), and the police report says that there were no deaths, no auto accidents, and no major crimes. All in all, it was a pretty civilized invasion. Not all towns could handle that many people so gracefully. And all handled with an absolute minimum of visible police presence. In Paris there would have been twenty riot police on every block, and there would have been more incidents. Here, nada. Go figure.
[FairfieldLife] Tropic Thunder
I am not normally a fan of Ben Stiller movies. But Tropic Thunder is one funny movie, and I have to admit to laughing myself through it in kind of a They can't *really* get away with that, can they? state of shock and awe. You've heard the buzz. The person who is getting the most attention is Robert Downey Jr., for playing a self-obsessed Australian method actor (his Russell Crowe accent is perfect) who under- goes surgery so that he can play a part in a Vietnam war movie written for a black man. And Downey *deserves* all the buzz; his is one of the funniest performances in years. But what's really being made fun of is method acting, not the blackface. Downey's character describes himself as the kind of actor who stays in char- acter until the DVD voiceovers are finished. The blackface jokes are made more palatable by Downey being able to bounce off of Brandon T. Jackson as Alpa Chino, rapper turned actor. But even these examples of milking self-deprecation for humor pale in comparison to writer/director Stiller's scenes as Tugg Speedman, whose action star IQ is probably measured in single digits and whose attempts to play a serious role as Simple Jack failed miserably because he didn't take the Forrest Gump or Rain Man approach and instead went for full retard. But for me the performance of the movie, a true masterpiece of having fun with parody and self deprecation, is the guy who plays the studio head Les Grossman. I'm not going to spoil it for anyone, because it took me half the movie to figure out who it was, and you should have the same oppor- tunity. Over the top stuff, but really *funny* over the top stuff. Just the remedy for when life in Kali Yuga gets so weird that some humor-impaired old bat actually expects you to take Hillary Clinton seriously.

It created an enormous credit line of good will with the American people. It also allowed McCain, the errant son of the admiral who was the commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific during Vietnam — his jailers dubbed McCain the “Crown Prince” — to give himself some credit. “He has been preoccupied with escaping the shadow of his father and establishing his own image and identity in the eyes of others,” read a psychiatric evaluation in his medical files. “He feels his experiences and performance as a P.O.W. have finally permitted this to happen.” The ordeal also gave a more sympathetic cast to his carousing. As Robert Timberg wrote in “John McCain: An American Odyssey,” “What is true is that a number of P.O.W.’s, in those first few years after their release, often acted erratically, their lives pockmarked by drastic mood swings and uncharacteristic behavior before achieving a more mellow equilibrium.” Timberg said Hemingway’s line that people were stronger in the broken places was not always right. So it’s hard to believe that John McCain is now in danger of exceeding his credit limit on the equivalent of an American Express black card. His campaign is cheapening his greatest strength — and making a mockery of his already dubious claim that he’s reticent to talk about his P.O.W. experience — by flashing the P.O.W. card to rebut any criticism, no matter how unrelated. The captivity is already amply displayed in posters and TV advertisements. The Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell, the pastor who married Jenna Bush and who is part of a new Christian-based political action committee supporting Obama, recently criticized the joke McCain made at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally encouraging Cindy to enter the topless Miss Buffalo Chip contest. The McCain spokesman Brian Rogers brought out the bottomless excuse, responding with asperity that McCain’s character had been “tested and forged in ways few can fathom.” When the Obama crowd was miffed to learn that McCain was in a motorcade rather than in a “cone of silence” while Obama was being questioned by Rick Warren, Nicolle Wallace of the McCain camp retorted, “The insinuation from the Obama campaign that John McCain, a former prisoner of war, cheated is outrageous.” When Obama chaffed McCain for forgetting how many houses he owns, Rogers huffed, “This is a guy who lived in one house for five and a half years — in prison.” As Sam Stein notes in The Huffington Post: “The senator has even brought his military record into discussion of his music tastes. Explaining that his favorite song was ‘Dancing Queen’ by Abba, he offered that his knowledge of music ‘stopped evolving when his plane intercepted a surface-to-air missile.’ ‘Dancing Queen,’ however, was produced in 1975, eight years after McCain’s plane was shot down.” The Kerry Swift-boat attacks in 2004 struck down the off-limits signs that were traditionally on a candidate’s military service. Many Democrats are willing to repay the favor, and Republicans clearly no longer see war medals as sacrosanct. In a radio interview last week, Representative Terry Everett, an Alabama Republican, let loose with a barrage at the Democrat John Murtha, a decorated Vietnam War veteran who is the head of the House defense appropriations subcommittee, calling him “cut-and-run John Murtha” and an “idiot.” “And don’t talk to me about him being an ex-marine,” Everett said. “Lord, that was 40 years ago. A lot of stuff can happen in 40 years.” The real danger to the McCain crew in overusing the P.O.W. line so much that it’s a punch line is that it will give Obama an opening for critical questions: While McCain’s experience was heroic, did it create a worldview incapable of anticipating the limits to U.S. military power in Iraq? Did he fail to absorb the lessons of Vietnam, so that he is doomed to always want to refight it? It was quite amazing to see -- all of the streets jammed with bodies, trying to get either back to their cars or to the nearest disco. It has been said, and with some truth, that if you can't get laid on the Saturday of Fiesta Mayor in Sitges, you're dead. This morn- ing, the streets are clean again and free from crowds and trash (the street cleaners here are nothing short of amazing), and the police report says that there were no deaths, no auto accidents, and no major crimes. All in all, it was a pretty civilized invasion. Not all towns could handle that many people so gracefully. And all handled with an absolute minimum of visible police presence. In Paris there would have been twenty riot police on every block, and there would have been more incidents. Here, nada. Go figure. I don't recall that you've ever mentioned what the average temperature is there? What was the temperature like for the show? Is it hot this time of year or fairly mild being on the Mediterranean?

But even these examples of milking self-deprecation for humor pale in comparison to writer/director Stiller's scenes as Tugg Speedman, whose action star IQ is probably measured in single digits and whose attempts to play a serious role as Simple Jack failed miserably because he didn't take the Forrest Gump or Rain Man approach and instead went for full retard. But for me the performance of the movie, a true masterpiece of having fun with parody and self deprecation, is the guy who plays the studio head Les Grossman. I'm not going to spoil it for anyone, because it took me half the movie to figure out who it was, and you should have the same oppor- tunity. Over the top stuff, but really *funny* over the top stuff. Just the remedy for when life in Kali Yuga gets so weird that some humor-impaired old bat actually expects you to take Hillary Clinton seriously. Speaking of old bats remember the Kathy Bates character in At Play in the Fields of the Lord? Especially the ending where flips out and dances around nude in front of the natives? :D I finally saw 10,000 BC last night as the BD was in so grabbed it. I guess Michael Phillips (At the Movies) and I are the only ones who liked the movie or thought it was okay. But I think it was just over the heads of most people. I recognized what they were exploring in the film and it is something that if you haven't read up on or listened to on shows like Art Bell you wouldn't get it. The movie was inspired by a Graham Hancock book Finger Prints of the Gods and I'm sure many here are familiar with his books. http://www.grahamhancock.com/ I won't say it is a great film but in many ways far better than a lot of the crap the sheeple go to in droves. There was a power outage Friday in my area which wasn't fixed by afternoon so I went to the local theater (not affected by the outage) and saw Mirrors which is based on a Korean film Into the Mirrors. Keifer Sutherland stars in his usual a little over the top style. Again not a great film but a bit better than direct to DVD so played theaters. This was another film that the studios didn't screen for the critics (usually a bad sign) but in this case the public gave it a good review. It's another Alexandre Aja film (The Hills Have Eyes remake). I felt the script could have used a little more development and was probably effected by the strike. I would have liked to have seen what Stephen King would have done to the concept which has a surprise third act.

Today I passed the afternoon with my son and his mother, my wife. Recently we had a big challenge in our life. I don't know if I can say that I have passed this challenge or failed it. I know that all I could do is stay on purpose and keep my love and commitment to my wife and my family above all else. Living in Brazil as an American I do not have a lot of resources. Even I have a lot of limitation. For example because I do not have a permanent visa I can not just go out and get a job. As someone who has accepted money for investment I have certain responsibilities and limitations corporate as well as ethical, therefore for me to take a job in a country that my working without the appropriate documentation is in direct violation of the laws of the country and can lead to immediate deportation, I have had to depend on business partners for everyday existence. When all of my so called partners were no longer sending money I was able to keep going for two more years, on my own creativity. Finally one day the guy from the housing court was at the door to put me and my family out of our rented apartment. WOW! even though we knew the day would possibly arrive, we were shocked. Especially since funding that had been promised for one year and held up in the current banking collapse was about to be released. Anyway having to leave our apartment on an unplanned day, we were subject and dependent on my wife's family. In these moments families panic and being caught off guard I did not know how to respond. Needless to say I was flabbergasted. Yet I kept my head the best I could and when I found myself and my son in the home of my mother in law, and I was being asked to leave, I felt a fear and definite hurt. Yet I packed up my things and left. I had enough money to get a hotel room. I went to cheap hotels but they were the kind of places that would cost more than I was saving. So I found a moderate hotel. I could have gone to Rio and stayed with friends for no immediate cost, but I would not have been able to see my son every weekend or keep my presence with my family. I stayed within 10 minutes by car. Have you ever thought you were passing through something that was totally insane but knew you had to pass through it? That was what this has been like. My son was born shortly after my dad died. Even as my dad was dying I invited him to come to Brazil and fill the vacancy that was now available as my mate in Brazil was pregnant. He died in New Jersey, when I returned to Brazil and we went to Ob-Gyn the Doctor did an ultra sound and the baby waved and kicked open his legs to show he was a boy. So I have always had the belief that this being may well be my dad. I could never leave my dad no matter what. So I stayed. The US Laws are stupid when it comes to immigration, illegal aliens come into the US everyday but for me to bring my family it is a great process. So not being able to do so coming back to the US was not an option for me. Getting kicked out of Brazil for deliberately breaking the law (Taking a job without documentation) would be financially irresponsible. So I have done my best with the circumstances. In order to resolve my life I have even had to accept ridiculous changes in the amounts of funding I was to receive. So since I was asked to leave my mother in law's home I have spent more money than I thought I could. I believe I am at the end of this process, because I believe it has been a test. Having kept my eye on the result I have wanted I was able to buy an exceptional home . Set up various investment ventures in Real Estate such as the possibility of building homes in a city that is like the one that was mentioned in the post on earlier on the American Way. Toyota is even going to build a factory here. So I am writing all of this to say. Even though I may question if perhaps I am a little nuts. I have really gotten to see what happens when one puts principal ahead of security. I had received money to make an investment 3 years ago. The investors backed out they only want to know when I will give their money back or have money for them. My original partners abandoned me 3 years ago. I could have chosen to run away but I did not. In the three years from 2005 till 2008 I was able to send my step daughter to a Waldorf School and allow my wife the time to devote to our toddler. From 6 months pregnant to 3 years old my wife was able to dedicate herself to our children. In Brazil this is not valued, but for me it is very important. I believe that within the next couple of days my funding will be finally in my account. I will put forth the first payment on our home and hopefully get my family back in order. This has not been easy and I pray I can let go of any resentment. I learned that I can not hold people responsible for what they do not

If not, sorry, you may not understand this. There are different means (averages) for normally distributed traits in different ethnic populations. For example European-Americans as a group have an average IQ 10 to 15 points higher than the average group IQ for African-Americans, 5 to 7 points higher than Hispanic-Americans and 3 to 6 points lower than Asian Americans. If you control for income the European-American, Hispanic-American and African-American difference disappears, but the Asian still remains. But the important point here is that within group differences are much, much larger than between group differences. Needless to say I was flabbergasted. Yet I kept my head the best I could and when I found myself and my son in the home of my mother in law, and I was being asked to leave, I felt a fear and definite hurt. Yet I packed up my things and left. I had enough money to get a hotel room. I went to cheap hotels but they were the kind of places that would cost more than I was saving. So I found a moderate hotel. I could have gone to Rio and stayed with friends for no immediate cost, but I would not have been able to see my son every weekend or keep my presence with my family. I stayed within 10 minutes by car. Have you ever thought you were passing through something that was totally insane but knew you had to pass through it? That was what this has been like. My son was born shortly after my dad died. Even as my dad was dying I invited him to come to Brazil and fill the vacancy that was now available as my mate in Brazil was pregnant. He died in New Jersey, when I returned to Brazil and we went to Ob-Gyn the Doctor did an ultra sound and the baby waved and kicked open his legs to show he was a boy. So I have always had the belief that this being may well be my dad. I could never leave my dad no matter what. So I stayed. The US Laws are stupid when it comes to immigration, illegal aliens come into the US everyday but for me to bring my family it is a great process. So not being able to do so coming back to the US was not an option for me. Getting kicked out of Brazil for deliberately breaking the law (Taking a job without documentation) would be financially irresponsible. So I have done my best with the circumstances. In order to resolve my life I have even had to accept ridiculous changes in the amounts of funding I was to receive. So since I was asked to leave my mother in law's home I have spent more money than I thought I could. I believe I am at the end of this process, because I believe it has been a test. Having kept my eye on the result I have wanted I was able to buy an exceptional home .
