that you are extrapolating Venus to Libra.

Anyway I certainly was looking forward to Saturn's transit in Libra,

and Rahu being my Atmakaraka.

I saw nothing in the NYT piece that conflicted with the testimony in the trial. 
If you are concerned about who was on top, Trayvon punched Zimmerman in the 
nose and Zimmerman fell back. Trayvon straddled him punching and slamming 
Zimmerman's head against the side walk. Zimmerman screamed for help, a male 
witness saw it and called 911 but would not come help Zimmerman. Zimmerman 
shoots Martin and then gets him off top and then Zimmerman pins Trayvon down to 
make sure Trayvon didn't have a weapon. This is what the women witnessed.

Matthew Shepard was profiled and murdered by homophobes because he was gay. 
There the notion that Trayvon was a homophobe profiling Zimmerman because he

before, there were witnesses and evidence supporting the witnesses and 
Zimmerman's story and they didn't have a case against Zimmerman after weeks of

went to trial. The media has led the un-informed public down a road that they

one not feel the pain and burden of Whites with their long history of slavery

as the defense lawyers pointed out, the assertions of the prosecution were 
incorrect because no one was there so there is no way of knowing what actually 
happened. They failed to say the same logic should apply to their own 
assertions. Meaning that your assertion that Martin was homophobic and started 
the fight cannot possibly be true because you weren't there and have no way of 
knowing. Plus, the real deal is that there was no Buddhist stupa in the gated 
community to ward off negative vibes, so the whole thing is your fault for not 
going there and installing one and teaching the Zimmermans and the Martins the 
importance of living in, praying to and wearing Buddhists stupas.

To complete the picture I should say that the Old Man normally only had long 
guns - a .22 rifle my brother still has, a 20 gauge double barreled side by 
side that bro also has, and a 410 gauge the Old Man bought my brother when he 
was 14. 

Pops acquired the .357 under mysterious circumstances. When I asked him where 
he got it, he claimed he bought it off a drunk man who wanted some whiskey so 
bad he sold the gun for forty dollars. He might have been lying (he was known 
to do that from time to time) but that's what he claimed. We were a little 
uncomfortable with it out like that and loaded, but the Old Man wouldn't budge. 
As he claimed, "If it ain't loaded and you need it, it ain't worth a damn." And 
yes he had it to kill someone should anyone ever have the temerity to break 
into the house.

That never happened, although he did threaten to kill several people over the 
years with it, one of whom was a TM teacher I knew. Andy called me to invite me 
to what turned out to be the official announcement of the TM Sidhi courses. The 
Old Man answered the phone (he had had a few drinks) and when he figured out he 
was talking to a TM teacher, he, among other things, offered to let Andy come 
up there whereupon Dad told him he would "ram the barrel of the .357 up your 
ass and pull the trigger to straighten your head out."

Andy declined the offer. If I recollect rightly, he threatened to use the 
revolver on four other people, in two instances it was because his tenants (he 
lived in one side of a duplex and rented the other side out) had brought over 
some "niggers" for socializing, not for working. And yes he made the tenants 
move out. Forget the equal housing laws, the tenants were in no mood to 
complain. Just a slice of Southern life.

It's an incredible blind spot for many people. Their
whole "American mythos" keeps them from noticing it
and how insane it is. Unless you live in "bear country"
(the only North American animal that would require a 
.357 magnum to take it down), the *only* reason to 
own a gun like that is to *kill people*.

I think I've mentioned here a friend from Santa Fe who
is a classic example of this "blind spot." In person
he's just the nicest guy in the world -- a talented 
guitarist and folk singer, loving father and husband,
etc. He *does* have a tendency to get monotopical about
Libertarianism, which is why I have had to block his
posts on some forums we share. He was also a Divinity
student in his youth, and almost became a preacher. 

But he owns over forty (40) guns. Some of them have 
been converted to full auto. In fact, he has over half
of them wrapped in oilcloth and buried in a trunk some-
where secret, in preparation for the day when "The
guvmint will come to get my other guns." Go figure.

Very interesting.

I saw a shocking documentary about the youngest kid in jail in
the US for life without parole (12) after he helped a friend kill
his stepdad. What a waste of lives but amidst all the handwringing from police, 
neighbours and family, *not one* person stopped to
wonder whether keeping two loaded pistols in an unlocked kitchen drawer was a 
bad idea. It's like some weird blind spot that was 
so taken for granted it wasn't even considered. It's just what 
they all do.

I wonder how England would be if guns were freely available?
We like to import everything else from the US: TV, shit food,
unfair business practises etc. So why not a liberal attitude
to weapons of mass destruction, how long would it take before
we're popping caps like it's some sort of solution?

Or would we be like Canada which, as I understand it, has
as many guns per person as the US but a much lower murder
rate?

Horrifying stats, turq but good to know so thanks for posting. Closest I've 
gotten to gun culture is finding out that my step Mom has a handgun. Her 
daughter, my half sister, has even taken lessons! Ok, I sort of understand in 
the former case because my Dad travels and they live in a wooded area and are 
obviously wealthy and she's in her 80s. But I wonder if she's ever considered 
the possibility that one of the great-grandkids might accidently find that gun 
and cause a tragedy.  


PS Was also horrified, though in a different way, by Wendy's subliminal 
advertising. Wonder if they'll change it now that the cat is out of the bag.

I've always thought of Poe as a bit of a weirdo, actually, but we do have the 
peerless Whitman. "Song of Myself" is an astonishing poem, as astonishing to me 
now as it was over forty years ago when I first read it. There are not many 
poets who have written from the perspective of unity consciousness, but Whitman

On the night of October 6–7, 1998, Shepard met Aaron McKinney and Russell 
Henderson for the first time at the Fireside Lounge in Laramie, Wyoming.[7][8] 
It was decided that McKinney and Henderson would give Shepard a ride home.[9] 
McKinney and Henderson subsequently drove the car to a remote, rural area and 
proceeded to rob, pistol-whip, and torture Shepard, tying him to a fence and 
leaving him to die. According to their court testimony, McKinney and Henderson 
also discovered his address and intended to steal from his home. Still tied to 
the fence, Shepard, who was still alive but in a coma, was discovered 18 hours 
later by Aaron Kreifels, a cyclist who initially mistook Shepard for a 
scarecrow.[10]
Shepard had suffered fractures to the back of his head and in front of his 
right ear. He experienced severe brainstem damage, which affected his body's 
ability to regulate heart rate, body temperature, and other vital functions. 
There were also about a dozen small lacerations around his head, face, and 
neck. His injuries were deemed too severe for doctors to operate. Shepard never 
regained consciousness and remained on full life support. While he lay in 
intensive care, candlelight vigils were held by the people of Laramie.[11]

Zimmerman had to act in self-defense against the racist, homophobic bigotry of 
African Americans, epitomized by Travyon.

How can one not feel the pain and burden of Whites with their long history of 
slavery when African American landowners shipped them from Europe, then being 
confined to housing projects with rampant guns, drugs, cheap wine, cheap meat - 
coupled with systematic racism denying them employment opportunities forcing a 
cycle of white-on-white violence, high crime rate, alcoholism and drug abuse. 
The burden of being constantly profiled, harassed and abused by the 
predominantly African-American police. God I myself spent 3 years around 
housing projecting witnessing the pain and burden of Whites.

Who can ever forget a bunch of African Americans torturing, tying the young 
homosexual Mathew Shepard to a fence and leaving him to die.

My sympathies are with Whites, Mikey boy and Zimmerman.
