Hi Linda,
I meant to write cmd-D, apologies.
But the redraw method works for me -- I frequently double-click with the text
tool and nothing appears to happen. Immediately redrawing the screen reveals a
handle that I can then double click to edit. I'm not sure why this doesn't work
for you,
Neal, the redraw screen is not do anything either. I have restarted
Finale, restarted the computer, Everything.
Maybe using the expressions tool IS the best way for this, since text block
seems to be disabled. Trouble is, it's only disabled part of the time.
Using the measure attached text
This is a long shot, but I found that text blocks don't always work if my
double-click is too fast. (I've programmed my right-click to be a double click
and this works on everything except text blocks.) When I double click a slower
way, then I can get access to the text block.

I am having a lot of trouble with text blocks (which I really, really need
for a current project).
It only lets me enter them about half the time, and I cannot for the life
of me figure out why. Sometimes I double click on a place in the score
(with text tool open) and it lets me enter it, move
sorry linda, don't have a solution/answer, but in any case, wouldn't
it be easier to use text expressions? unless you absolutely need
centred or justified texts, the expresison tool has lots of powerful
settings that can automate your life for you...
If you really need to enter measure-attached text blocks, make sure to
use Scroll View.

Hi Linda,
I answered this for you last time you asked. If you double-click with the text
tool and nothing happens, you need to redraw the screen (shortcut is cmd-R on
Mac). You will see the handle for the empty text box you just created --
double-click on the handle to edit.
And please
Also, Jef is right that there is absolutely no reason to be using
measure-attached text blocks, they are entirely obsolete. You should use the
expression tool for that. You should only ever use the text tool for
page-attached text blocks. Switching to the expression tool for
measure-attached
Well, first of all, I don't remember asking getting an answer before, but I
believe you, so I apologize if I asked it in duplicate. I am so slammed
with deadlines that it could have gotten away from me. Nevertheless, two
things;
1) Redraw screen in mac 2012 is command-D.
I did that. Nothing
